Look, you don't want me to continue this any further.
There's no love lost between myself and WoW. But that's just fucking dense.
Find another game.

Windows 95 had problems within the core software that was not discovered until later versions of the software even going to Windows 98 SP2 because they were not looking in those places to see where there were conflicts within the source code because the systems were completely unrelated. I just prefer using World of Warcraft because the developers actually talked about the bugs and how they were just being discovered now because they were added a new system. I am not talking about content or the amount of content that gets extended over periods of time, I am comparing software that has bugs and why they aren't discovered.

So glad they announced this, I couldn't keep it to myself for any longer The game is all in one piece now, they are just bug fixing and making sure everything works nicely with everything else. Imagine it like putting together a car, and you had the engine, chassis, wheels, suspension, interior, etc, all in your garage, but separated. Now they've put everything in one client and ensuring there's no code conflicts, etc. They are on track for release, so that's also freaking amazing!

You go from comparing it to about a fifteen year old MMO, to comparing it to a ~35ish year old OS. Brilliant. You sure know how to double down on stupid. Choose Fallout 4. Good god, everybody knows that that game has bugs, no one gives a shit. But at least they'd know what in the holy fuck you're talking about.

It's got nothing to do with the age of the game/program/system - adding new stuff to anything can make a system react in ways you can't predict/show problems you didn't know was there. And that's not just programming, that's probably any engineering. I work as an engineer - you can do as many risk assessments and procedures as you want, that new part you put on the product will have a problem with it and it'll probably be a problem on another random part of the product you thought was absolutely fine, but just suddenly started having issues. Which is why you have a verification plan, multiple testing along the the production line and yet products do still end up with faults in the field. It wouldn't surprise me if Programming was very similar.

I agree with Sartoz . They should have fixed the bugs before putting in the content. That way the content would have no bugs. Yes? Its far from being that simple. Millions of lines of code can have "interesting" ways of interacting with one another, Blizzard had this problem when adding their new internal systems for simplifying item crunch with Battle for Azeroth. They said that the change made bugs that were never noticed in old content appear now because of how things are interacting with each other and how they were interacting changed because of this new system. So creating a piece of content could be 100% bug free when implemented or they squash those bugs when first implementing, but code added months later could interact with it and create a new bug that they don't know about right away. Agreed. My response was sarcastic. However I didn't add the /s (I think that's how people denote sarcasm on forums? Dunno.) so I can understand where some might think I was being serious. Trying to fix bugs before the bug-causing thing has been implemented seems like an idea that wouldn't work well.

Like these can work with sarcastic/ironic responses:
"Trying to fix bugs before the bug-causing thing has been implemented".
Now this feels like a textbook definition of madness.

I find some emoticon works to indicate being sarcastic for generally unless there is something to indicate an emotion I tend to take it as a person being serious with their questions.

When Ben "It's exciting" Irving tells you not to worry, you should get real worried, real fast. Yes, I still have a grudge against that punk for his "brilliant" producing in SWTOR that led to the biggest exodus of players that game ever saw and in record time too.

EA's business model is to try to sell you at least one game every quarter (as opposed to make games with long term value) An MMO of any sort by them directly contradicts their philosophy

I mean, I found it kinda strange to hit alpha that late in development, but I guess they were honest with it. Is barely out of beta still.
