Why do they need a child? They have a staff that grants them immortality. And their entire life has been ruined because of their blood, as well as literally just seeing another family ruined, so why in the world would they want to subject someone to that at least at that time. It should have been a choice. Why is Dsrius’s blood important? He isn’t a Tainted One. And if he is then there was no reason to force the child since his family would have that blood regardless. And his teachings don’t need biological offspring. The element connecting Origin to Odyssey is that Amunet is a direct descendant of Kassandra/Alexios (whoever you played) and Darius (via his son/daughter). I think some people forget that Odyssey is the first AC game with dialogue choices and that it is game number 21 too (that total include the mobile/handled games). It's an action-adventure series with a fixed story at its core, not a BioWare RPG series with save importing. So you don’t have any actual answers to my questions. Also, that sure isn’t how they promoted this game.

I finished up chapter two of Legacy. I must have made a mistake, though, because, despite never giving the whiner a moment of encouragement, he shows up at the house when he was supposed to be on a boat and the next thing I know, Kassandra has a kid! What. The. Hell? I mean, I didn't like him, but I feel like this was excessive.
That feeling when you have to rescue a kid you didn't want, but had with a guy you didn't want.
The baby is adorable, though. That's one reason why I just embraced the whole thing and ran with Kass being actually invested in the relationship and baby thing. Made it much more authentic/believable playing the DLC for me. And YES the baby is really well animated and very adorable!!!!

I will say, though, the VA for Kass is approaching god tier for her performance in this chapter. Absolutely, whilst her performance is consistently good throughout the whole game and yes there are some real highs (the emotional delivery in intense scenes) and lows in some, she nails it consistently throughout the DLC I think.

However, player choice is an illusion and has no impact on the canon tapestry. Exactly, that's why you can only play as Kassandra and the fate of her family is predetermined. ...oh wait. People are mad not because there is a selected canon, they were clear about that. People are mad, because they advertised, for the first time in the series, the freedom of choice and not forcing any romantic choices on you. Then the dlc came and cancelled that out, for no good reason. It's one thing to have a canon and another to promise not to force the canon on you and then do a 180. They should have made the baby canon, but given you the choice to skip it in the dlc, like they have with so much else in the base game. At least Atlantis looks great and the money I put into the season pass won't be totally wasted...

So been unable to play last few days due to a damn nasty head cold, good part got lots of reading done, bad part concentration levels weren't conducive to much ACOD. Did get some in, continued the Phydias mission and used the massive amount of sailing (as personal respite ) and to plant Fast Travel markers over most places. It also allowed some opportunities to stumble on High Level Merc's who are now all dead and to kill some cultists. The last of whom I saw his icon on the map so detoured there and when I came upon him he was alone and being attacked by a Boar and a Spartan Brute. It was fun to watch and then I just one shot him with RA. Pic's I especially like killing the arrogant mouthy Merc's: Nigh time shot of The Celestial Crew on The Adrestia Statues Scenery

For me, I've long since ignored devs' promises and the hype over advertised "player choices" and so on before ACOD so the uproar did not have any impact on me. ACOD devs wanted to show the pathway of the bloodline, the canon continuation, and their intention to link up with the other AC stories, and thus have to ignore "player choices" when making the DLC. I fail to see the benefit of persistent pitch forking over this issue; nothing will change. There're bigger broken promises, false advertisement in other games than what's happened with the ACOD DLC. Ubisoft have apologised. They at least, have accepted responsibility compared to other devs / publishers who pretend to be deaf and persisted in continuing doing stuff that players do not want. Given the developments in their attempt to introduce rpg elements with the AC series, it remains now to see whether they wish to continue with it or fall back to the linear story telling of the old AC titles.

All he's saying IMO is that games developers have over promised on so many occasions with regards to "choice" and it's "real impacts" that he and indeed I have become wary of believing it and therefore are not as disappointed when it is not delivered. That this particular instance is a big deal for you is clear, that it isn't for others is not a crime and does not mean we don't empathise but we just don't need to keep nagging on about it.

That this particular instance is a big deal for you is clear, that it isn't for others is not a crime and does not mean we don't empathise but we just don't need to keep nagging on about it. No, that's exactly what they are saying. There is a difference between an overpromise and a blatant lie. This is the latter. They stated that the game would never force this exact situation on the players but it did exactly that. Among other quotes: “Since the story is choice-driven, we never force players in romantic situations they might not be comfortable with,” Dumont says. “Players decide if they want to engage with characters romantically. I think this allows everybody to build the relationships they want, which I feel respects everybody’s roleplay style and desires.” “We’re not forcing you to do something you don’t want to do,” she said. “So if you’re somebody who’s asexual, you don’t have to engage in something like this. It’s not forced. It’s very much your choice."And yes, people do need to keep 'nagging on about it' until they change the DLC to actually honor their word or definitively prove that they'll never do it again. If not, then yes as Obsidian said nothing will change because they got away with it once so why not again?

I fail to see the benefit of persistent pitch forking over this issue And I fail to see the benefit of the persistent posts saying "people don't get the lore" or "there were bigger issues" or "you don't get to change canon through whining, it's their canvas." Just as you're annoyed by "persistent pitch forking," I'm annoyed that every time the subject gets brought up you and others immediately jump in to state how it's not a big deal and people who are upset are irrational. I wouldn't have posted about this again, if there weren't new posts about how we should just shut up. Also, your point about the futility of complaining is dead wrong - MEA is a prime example of how complaints about shafting LGBT players have resulted in the developer actually implementing changes to fix that.

So I finished "A very bad not good day" or whatever its name was. And it was indeed a not very good day. Not the best of the Lost Tales but (still think that was A Brother's Seduction) but it was still lots of fun. Watching all those incidents. Though the bad things about having headphones now is its harder for people who aren't in said headphones to see what is going on. So during the first bit, with the blacksmith's death...wife blocked vision and started 'talking' to me, so I missed why he died. Had to hear about it later after talking to the general. Also it annoyed me: That they made Alexios set Ajax on fire. We should've had the option to say no...after all Alexios did try and prevent the idiot from riding off the cliff. At the end the final battle with the Eagle Bearer was lots of fun, and I don't have Spartan Kick so I just dueled with him...and then when I killed him I dropped him off the mountain. The guy was pissing me off 'yeah I didn't kill anyone but you caused chaos'. Bitch you told that one woman that she could turn a horse into a Pegasos if she fed it a fruit!

You are definitely right about my talking about the issue again. I've really no wish to talk about it but I let my annoyance regards the increasing shenanigans in media got the better of me and my seeing the wording "drama" over the ACOD DLC is a trigger. No worries, not going to happen again. Andromeda? Never mind. End of line.

Steam has only just started downloading this patch. I think they're a day late or the Hades chapter failed to load since I'm seeing posts regarding this.

"Addressed an issue causing enemy fire attack damage to be too high. Enemy archers no longer have the ability to apply players Critical Chance and Critical Damage stats engravings to themselves. No getting owned by archers any more." Thank the gods for this, I thought it was just me experiencing this because I am incompetent!!! Can now get rid of some of those elemental resistance engravings"Upped Ikaros's attack damage. You Are A Bird, Be A Bird" - this definitely changed for in this PT, Ikaros could could always kill sheep with one hit but this PT he couldn't. Hope this fixes it, hate chasing wounded sheep everywhere. "Mercenaries will now carry different amounts of iron and gems to be looted. It's not equal work, equal pay in ancient Greece, Misthios!" About time sick of killing the top merc's and getting pittance and a rare weapon.

Just got back in town this morning after spending most of the week visiting family, so I was finally able to jump into "A Really, Really Bad Day". I thought I'd try to be clever and see if there was a way to circumvent the tragic quests, but on the whole... I think I just made things worse. 1. Pirate Ships: Tried sinking all the unmarked Pirate Ships - no change. Disabling the ships - no change. Tried sinking one ship, then returning. It still counts it as mission complete, and no change. Bah. 2. Blacksmith: Tried moving the blocks away from the Blacksmith (after first placing them) - no change. Knocked out the would-be bandit blacksmith and brought him into town, thinking maybe I could convince him to take over. I left him sleeping near the forge while I did the other quests. 3. The Horse: Decided to let a bear kill the horse (it actually counts as murder of you do it yourself! ). The quest failed (and therefore no XP), but she survived (though wouldn't speak to me afterwards). 4. Ajax: Brought him into town, but there was some big commotion going on. Um... it seems that bandit blacksmith I brought into town earlier woke up and rampaged through the village, slaughtering a pile of villagers before going down. Oops.Yeah... my bad. 5. The Big Battle: I wasn't expecting so many villagers to get involved after the debacle leading up to it, so a bunch more died as I was trying not to accidentally kill them myself. 6. The Chicken Bearer: Well played. I wound up recruiting him in the end (he actually had some ship stats).

About time sick of killing the top merc's and getting pittance and a rare weapon. I quickly learned that while boarding ships in my Crit gear, my first duty as captain is to HIDE AT THE BACK OF THE SHIP or JUMP IN THE WATER ASAP to dodge the 15 arrows pointed at me.
About time Ikaros got some love. I thought he is getting old.
And I thought it made sense that the top mercs didn't have a dime to their name. Imagine it - "Hey, all, I just become one of the top dogs in Greece! Time to spend all I have on booze, sex and drugs before the Eagle Bearer inevitably comes for me."

I...am...so...rusty. Either that or I just always have sucked but no...just must be rusty.
So I started Legacy of the First Blade...so its really fun to me to see the controversy being talked about again because I can finally give a definitive opinion on it! *cough*
Anyways I have had a wild and good time but weirdly enough I guess after playing DA I its weird how some of this games annoyances are a lot more annoying. Namely trying to find quests on that map, and the bounty system. Either way I am still am having fun and enjoying the story and the quest names so far. The combat is as good as ever and its nice getting to hunt down another ancient order of evil...already killed two of them.
So lets see, specifics: First little camp I raided...oh by the way I am really annoyed at the Spartans also being under the sway of these bad guys. Anyways snuck up and crawled up a tower into a sniper position. They saw me after sniping a few of them...and I almost died, had to retreat and heal up.
Second attempt...found another wall pathway and climbed up way, tried sniping...was instantly caught. This was a lot more difficult, middle of the day and there was a lot of people down there so I think it would be quite difficult to do a stealthy run there...but then each Spartan I kill raises my bounty level (DA 4, I don't think you should do bounty levels!...I mean you could do it right but...no...no...no!) Anyways had a lot more luck though because I was on a raised level I devestated shotted and shield smashed Spartan after Sparten off the tower to their death.
Then there was some mercenary fun. First mercenary I 'snuck up on' and he was all like 'hey there is a bounty on you!' and I was like 'well here is an overpowered shot'...which I didn't see the two civvies standing next to him...so they rag dolled off the screen. Oops. Second merc I was hunting some bears and he just came up on me and recked me. I reloaded and he was there...at least I am pretty sure it was the same one, but he wasn't attacking for some reason so I wasn't going to wait around...and wanted revenge...so I critical assassinated him...and then he hit me like a brick shithouse. I was like 'what is this guy' and I saw the red skull...but I was comitted. I did lose, but knocked his health down almost by half. And then he kills me. Loads up again and I give him a respectful nod before dashing off to a safe distance. Which then I sent in Ikaros and he was level 85 next to my 61...Jesus! Also I am quite pleased by how I did.
Anyways one of the Order of the Ancients was really...bad. Lots of dead people and...dogs...in my wake. He was in this town and I was trying to join the Order...failed...he somehow was 100 + meters from me...so I tore off after him...forgetting most of my powers, got into a lengthy fight. Finally got him, wanted to confirm this kill but this one clear civvie came up behind me and whacked me with a spear.
