I'm sorry if this is another thread of problems but I can't start Dragon Age Inquistion at all. I did alot of research and I also called EA custormer service. I ended up installing the base game instead of the extra dlcs from my GOTY edition DAI. After reinstalling only the base game, i tried again and it opened Origin but the game wouldn't launch at all. I'm at a lost here. I do have Avast Free Antivirus and Windows 10, I did put both origin and DAI in "Do Not Disturb" mode. But that still didn't launch the game. I even tried running it on "Run as Administrator" and that didn't work either. Any help and advice will be welcome. I'm pretty sure that a thread like this exist but I just wanted to post this in case this was a unique problem or so.

If so, turn that first off and try to start the game..

I have Avast Antivirus. How do I turn that off? Usually if you have the icon in the task tray (small ^ upwards arrow to show them all), right click it to get a menu, there should be exit/quit something like that.

Oh no, another victim! I really feel you, as I had the exact same problem recently. DAI shut down as soon as I tried to launch it even if it was on Avasts white list.
The thing is I don't think you can disable Avast temporarily. So what worked for me was to deinstall it all together. Then I could run DAI and when I reinstalled Avast, it didn't create any more problems.
Fingers crossed that you'll have it running soon!

Hmm I have the task tray checked but I don't see anything else that says exit or quit.

Chenowl Blanc recently had the same problem with AVAST and DAI not working together. I believe her solution ended up being to uninstall AVAST, then re-install it again, after noticing that DAI worked once it was uninstalled. There are some details in her thread > bsn.boards.net/post/1143484/thread

Its been like 2-3 years since I played all three dragon age games. I just built my first pc earlier this year from an old gaming laptop (which i did play 3 dragon age games on before). I wanted to test out those games on my new pc. So far I beat both DAO/DA2 and i was soooo excited to try out DAI. But my heart was broken when it didn't launch at all. I was so frustrated i wanted to cry. Do you really need the Avast is the question I'd ask myself. You have Win10 and it has Defender. I have had some bad experiences with Windows Defender, I actually have it off right now. I like Avast. Its of course different from Kaspersky which i had years ago for a long time but I couldn't afford it anymore so I went to Avast. Its good for now to me.

I don't remember if this exist on Avast, but there's often a list of files or exe you can check as allowed to run no matter what. Some kind of exception list. Try to find that and put the whole DAI file or .exe on the exeption list.

Like I said its been a very long time since I played DAI. I can't wait to play the game on the highest settings possible. If you guys have any other suggestions please comment if you want. I would love to try out something.

After I got the game working and reinstalled Avast, I also put both on the list again, just to be on the safe side. So far, the game has been running perfectly, without any crashes or lag. So I can totally understand you felt frustrated, it was the exact same for me. It's just so annoying if you're looking forward to something which shouldn't be a bother, and then it ends up becoming one. But no worries, I'm sure you'll figure it out, even if it might not be the Avast-bug (although it sure sounds like it).

Ya know, Regack is secretly my SAM, being the Pathfinder and all...
And since she's actually an AI, well, she knows this stuff.
I'd follow her advice.

@pesky Powltergeist ok so I have uninstall Avast antivirus and after restarting the computer. I ran DAI again with and without "Run as adminstrator" and it did launch successfully.
I'm going to check out the thread to see what you did afterwards.
