Any one else have a problem with the game closing it self out when trying to enter the screen to change companions, or traveling between locations? I'm playing on the PC, so it's possible there is a mod conflict somewhere - but can't figure out what one it could be. (And no, haven't yet cleared out all mods and re-adding them one by one yet.) It seems to be happening more lately, and I don't think I've added any new mods. It's gotten to the point that it will sometimes take me 5 or more tries just to change companions. What companions I currently have active or what location I'm traveling from (although it's almost a given that it will happen when leaving Hawke's estate).
Wondering if anyone else has had this happen, and did anything resolve it for you?

I play with a lot of mods, but I've never had that happen. Is it happening more in a certain act or on a larger map? The bug while traveling seems to be more random and less frequent. The main location I have issues traveling from is Hawke's estate, but traveling from there always throws you into the companion picker screen. As far as changing companions, it has happened at every location. Sometimes I can travel to a new location, and it will then work from there. For example, if I'm having trouble at the Hanged Man, I can travel to the Chantry and sometimes get the screen to load there. Other times I've had to travel from the Chantry to the Hanged Man to get it to work. (Which is what makes the Hawke estate so annoying, I have to get to the companion screen to be able to leave/travel...) No one location seems to be bugged more than the other, and traveling to a new location doesn't always fix it. |

I have face mods, but nothing that changes them significantly like that. Perhaps when trying to load their avatars a mod, that changes that avatar, is crashing? But then that doesn't explain the travelling problem. It sounds like a slow mod removal is the only answer, urgh it sucks having to do that. We do have some guys around here who mod DA2 so hopefully some of them will chime in too.  |

I was afraid it would come down to slowly removing/adding each mod - was hoping to avoid that if possible, lol. I think you're probably on the right path with the companion mods - with the exception of the Hawke estate, the traveling one is more rare so that might just be an occasional fluke. I do have a number of companion mods that make changes to some of their hair/faces/armor. I'll start with testing those ones and go from there. Hopefully it's one that I only use during Act 2, so won't be so much of a problem the rest of this playthough (just have pretty much the Arishok fight left). If it is an Act 2 companion mod, could also explain why I didn't have as much trouble earlier in the game. ETA: Took the folder with my companion mods out of my override and opened the game - no trouble loading the companion screen or leaving the estate. Put in the Act 3 mods and started having the same issue again. Now to just figure out which of my friends isn't playing nice... Thanks  ETA 2: And it looks like it's Isabela and/or Bethany causing the trouble. Not surprised Isabela's causing trouble  , but really little sister? You're in the Act for all of 10 seconds and you've been wreaking havoc this whole time? Carver I would have expected this from, but not you. (Guess Bethany will have to go back to her original hairstyle and Isabela may need to straighten her hair between acts. Going to keep trying to keep Isabela's hair if I can, she looks good with curly hair, but if I have to I have to.) The process of mod testing wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it would be, thanks to you giving me a place to start |
