I totally agree with you. Those who keep announcing themselves, and everyone else as "MEN", are indeed little boys with a toxic and very fragile masculinity. You kids REALLY need to read the article I linked. Please... For all of our sake #1- What article? #2- I'm 51 ... I'm not a kid. I'm probably older than you, budgee.

Weesa old men (Age from 28-40) agree with and support each other here. Sadly I would say 80% of women are unworthy of marriage while 60% of men are unworthy on the other side (in the bigger picture, modern-western/globally, not locally). Given my views of marriage, I'd pretty well say 100% of men are unworthy of marriage. Not because of all men, but more because I really don't have a great opinion of marriage...it's overrated, overpriced and a real mess when trying to get out of one. It makes me cringe whenever it's mentioned as a relationship goal, so frankly I'd say marriage is unworthy of most women.

I have seen too big of a deal being made of that kind of thing, so no, not really. Some women turn real ugly when it comes to "the ring", the dress, the ceremony, but never concentrate on what happens afterward. Do you know how much bitching some people do if the wedding isn't perfect? I know someone who bitched and bitched everytime I talked to her, she was pissed about something her husband did at the reception and even years later, she still bitched about how mad she was. Then her husband died in a car crash and all I could think of was how much time she wasted bitching at him while she with him and now she was gonna miss him. There were other friends I've seen go through messy divorces and a girl who bounced around getting engaged to this guy and that and then would call it off. She just wanted to go around looking for dresses, it seemed. So no, after everything I've seen, marriage isn't for me.

I had a lovely wedding. But we paid for it ourselves and it was relatively small. One of the problems with weddings is that the focus is entirely on the big day and not a lot of thought goes into the aftermath (I am not referring to the honeymoon). Of course it's nice to have a day where you are the centre of attention and you are surrounded by the people you love.
Another problem is that you make promises to each other. And while it takes two people to make a promise, it only takes one to break it. It is nigh impossible to predict how a relationship is going to go. That upright, responsible man might have a drug problem. That beautiful woman might be an undiagnosed bipolar. What if one of you gets sick? Or dies?
It's possible that the person you thought you were marrying is not the one you really are.

I stopped wearing jewelry when I became a mother, it snagged on things way too easily and you can scratch the baby with rings that have pointy edges, or the baby can get ahold of necklaces or earrings...it all just becomes one pain in the butt. Same reason why I don't carry a purse, juggling one of those with diaper bags and strollers, everything gets tangled and I discovered light jackets with big pockets and only carrying the necessities was so much better. I don't miss either jewelry or purses, both seem to be a waste of money to me, now.

It's possible that the person you thought you were marrying is not the one you really are. Some people are meant to get married and some aren't. I'm not. I don't get excited over the idea of calling a man "my husband", in fact, I kinda choke on the word. It isn't the commitment that bothers me either, I was with my ex for a long time, but we were living common-law and raising a family. Whenever someone asked if we were gonna get married, just the thought of it ...nah. not for me. I admit I considered it a couple of times, but with what I've seen, heard and experienced, I have no desire to actually get married.

Actually, I'd say the degeneracy has improved since the 1970's, when I was a kid and I've never been a traditionalist, it wasn't in my upbringing. As for virtue and order, I question if it ever existed, or was it all just a bunch of whitewashing and putting on aires while keeping all the dirty stuff behind closed doors. The thing with today's society is that all the dirty stuff is being brought to light and dealt with, instead of being hushed up and silenced.

LOL...I don't even wear one of those anymore. I detect some chronophobia here. No...I'm just big boned and I hate the way wristwatches look on my wrist and they never fit right...any kind of jewelry/chain on my wrist is annoying. I used to have a $10 watch, but I didn't like wearing it.

You kids REALLY need to read the article I linked. Please... For all of our sake I didn¡t see it, it was toggled as a spoiler . I just did read it. However, I am just stupid (which is possible) or I don't see the correlation between my comment and the article you've linked. I must say tho, that I find it really interesting, and I even agree with it in some aspects.
Let me please sum up the article; 1. The woman being interviewed is a very intelligent REAL feminist. That is; not a dumb-ass early 20s middle-class college student but an actual adult woman who has struggled & fought for her place as an author. She says modern 3rd wave feminism is full of bullshit. I agree 2. You CANNOT claim to be a feminist & just bitch on Twitter & Tumblr about how you think you are oppressed. You have to live by YOUR IDEALS, which means no dating men who aren't part of the revolutionary movement, no working for a male-owned corporation or even buying your fucking socks at Wal-Mart. It's like being a REAL vegan, there's no half-assing it 3. Grow up and realize you probably do not possess the integrity or personal fortitude necessary to be a REAL feminist. Go back to your "safe-space" & keep playing make believe

Calling out a couple of douche bags for being douches has nothing to do with feminism...or whatever point you were trying to make. I never mentioned feminism, neither did swoop and I REALLY can't say much about this author of yours if I don't know who it is and what she wrote. I really don't need someone dictating to me what is what, whether it's a man or a woman. Especially when it seems like what you just relayed sounds more like someone degrading the younger generation of women to dissuade them from becoming feminists. NOW, there is a point, I do agree some women getting on twitter & Tumbler to complain are doing it for attention, but there is also a group of young women who a working to find their voices and who are being drowned out by attention seekers and those working to discourage them. Now, whether these young women choose to call themselves "feminists", that's up to them. And how they choose to do is up to them too, because quite frankly, this author's attitude, you paraphrased sounds no better than the male attitude feminists are trying combat.

As nopers said, it has nothing to do with feminism. Sorry if I offended you, but you can calm down now.

What if I told you that both women’s suffrage and universal suffrage were mistakes ... now being abused by socialist demagogues and sentimentalists all over the west? People ought to prove responsibility and maturity through having property and properly managing it or have to earn it by military service, honest and devoted public service, or academic achievements etc. in order to have the privilege to vote. ... probably not possible under "Democracy".

Thank you! His comment made my blood boil, damn! I was never speaking in the name of feminism, I was just saying that a macho attitude and being a douche bag reflects a fragile masculinity. As nopers said, it has nothing to do with feminism. Sorry if I offended you, but you can calm down now.
Exactly. I don't even classify myself as a feminist, I'd lean more towards humanism, than feminism, if I had to throw a label on it, my focus isn't just on female equality. As for the guys in the video... It seems the poor dears really want to believe that they are worthy of having an opinion on women and have a choice with what they get. I'm sure there are women who might be interested in them...somewhere...but really, with their attitudes, they really are overreaching with their self-appeal. WAY better men exist, way better.

Go back to your "safe-space" & keep playing make believe I don't even find 2nd wave feminism healthy and constructive for societies. It was all about muh independence! Man...are you a fan of Starship Troopers? You sound like you base your opinions around that world construct.
