WHAT!? Fem shep was the best V.A. for a main character in any bioware game. You could really feel the emotion and...sorry I feel a little strongly on this Your feelings betray you.
Male Shep was just better, his tone and voice pattern portrayed the story of a soldier being thrust into command, and evolving as he leaves the alliance for Cerberus and is finally trying to be more of a leader to unite the galaxy. The both have certain lines that don't hit or really hit, but Male Sheps restrained emotion in ME1 to a more open emotion in Me3 fit the character better IMO.
I have literally no idea what you're talking about. I mean, I understand the words in your post, but they seem to be referring to some version of ME from another universe.

Restrained emotion in ME1? M!Shep's wooden voice was best used for deadpan hilarity when choosing the most dickish lines.

Even milquetoast Space Canuk Kaidan's VA was better at displaying subtle changes in tone of voice for certain situations in ME1. Shepard basically had 2 modes: flat and obvious douche. Obvious douche was great because it had a clear idgaf tone that made it fun to screw with NPC's, but for a serious playthrough, I just didn't feel the VA was that engaging, especially against the other main NPC's.

No offense meant towards Maleshep, but the voice acting in ME1 had his words run together. It was hard to play as him because he sounded like he was rushing through the lines in a monotone.
By ME2 and 3 however, he sounded much better, clearly enough to match Hale.
That's my personal opinion though. I don't see the need to trash other people's preference for Maleshep to like Femshep's.

No, there was a range of tone there. Your inability to hear it because it wasn’t worn on his sleeve is not my problem.

The hilarious thing is that the characters with the most emotional range in their voice is Wrex and Ashley. Everyone else is kind of all over the place, and forget about the single serve NPC's. Gotta shout out to my girl Benezia. When she said there'd be a bright light, I got choked up with laughter.

I vastly preferred flat shep over the railroaded forced emotion of me3.

I just liked male sheps delivery. I don’t find it wooden. I found it appropriate for the character in the context of the scenes he was in. Sure there were a few bad lines but every voice actor has those. I’m not sure why people want so much emotion in every line like it’s a soap opera or something. He reminded of a lot of lifetime military types I know. I know some that are more on the fem shep side of things as well. I just prefer his style. For me ME3 I thought his delivery was too emotional but it’s end of the galaxy time, the earth is burning. So I’m not sure less would fit.
