Didn't your fave romance get shoved off the ship in ME3 because she wasn't a favorite? No, I imagine she got shoved off the ship because she could die in ME2. Which is a prob for returning romances and I don't want that to happen to anyone in DA4. I'm 90/10 dual protag split with only romances for the new 90% protag

No it doesn’t. Shepard returned as protagonist in ME2 and ME3 and got new romances each time. I ain't gonna cheat on my wife, lol. If we play as the Inquisitor, I'm romancing Sera and no one else. If we play as a new protag, Inky can romance Sera and New Person can romance Someone Else. Just import a world state where the Inquisitor didn’t romance anyone in DAI. There, no cheating required.

I like one cohesive world state and that would rustle my jimmies most heinously. I get that that's my issue, but that's why it's an opinion thread.

Which is a prob for returning romances and I don't want that to happen to anyone in DA4. Well Blackwall and The Iron Bull could die in DAI and Trespasser.
I really don´t like the idea that ironically from all the DA protagonists could return. He/She is my least favourite hero because i don´t like to play as a boring messiah.

I picked the Inquisitor as the protagonist. In the teaser released today, Solas says, "So, you've found me at last." Honestly only makes sense if that's directed at the Inquisitor.
Maybe I do have an emotional attachment to the character I created. Why shouldn't I? Doesn't that just mean I did a damn good job with my role playing (which, ultimately, is a key part in these games) and it seems fitting for BioWare to use that momentum to build a fan's excitement for the next game- in that we be able to see our characters again with an important role in Tevinter. Dragon Age is good at swapping out their main protagonist each game, and I find it annoying and makes me feel continually disconnected from the series as a whole. I think now would be a good time to keep to a key protagonist.
Also, it is doubtful that the Inquisitor and his/her entire influential faction capable of bringing down a would-be God would simply fade into nothing in a few years time and for him/her to become completely irrelevant.

I'm 90/10 dual protag split with only romances for the new 90% protag This is one of the main reasons I don't want the Inquisitor to be the main protagonist again. I have one Inquisitor who has a dead love interest, and I have no faith that they would treat that with any more weight than they gave to Thane in ME3. Two of the others are married, and three more are in committed relationships, all with people who are unlikely to show up in #TheDreadWolfRises in any significant capacity. The chance of continuing my Dorian romance and having my Solas-mancing Inquisitor gleefully move on with someone else doesn't outweigh screwing up all those existing relationships for me.
If I get a fresh protagonist, I get to romance all the new people with a clean slate! (Which is why my preferred DA4 model is a dual protagonist set-up where we play a new character most of the time and the Inquisitor on a few select missions.)

I want to concentrate on roleplaying just one character, not two. But I'm not opposed to the Inquisitor being a gameplay asset in a way, that we can control in one way or another. I wouldn't mind if it were like Charlie's Angels where Inquisitor is Charlie, we are their Angels and Dorian (or anyone who knows the Inquisitor who is part of our team) is Bosley.

Makes me wonder about those who romanced Dorian with their Inquisitor. Dorian is very likely to be involved in DA4- possibly even a key character. If he was romanced, will that relationship be honored in DA4 or will he be romancable to this new protagonist? If so, will there be drama? Personally, I'd feel super weird about it. Like, I'm cheating on myself with my own boyfriend (what?). If he wasn't romanced by the Inquisitor then will he again be romancable or will he have a NPC partner/husband? SO many questions...

If we do keep playing as the Inquisitor I imagine that we'd at least be able to continue an existing relationship with him. Then the question becomes whether or not he's like Kaidan and Ashley and Liara in ME3 (where you can either continue an existing relationship or begin a new one.)

Then the question becomes whether or not he's like Kaidan and Ashley and Liara in ME3 (where you can either continue an existing relationship or begin a new one.) Yeah nah, this is part of the reason I wouldn't like Inquisitor to come back, granted Dorian is important at all. It would D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y take away from making another gay male character with a romance. Because to think there'd be two fully-developed gay male romances (and by that I mean romance with a gay male, not m/m romances) with good, fair content is kind of an utopia. It'd end up with Dorian being the sole gay male (romance) or then Dorian or new gay companion getting the short end of the stick, if Inquisitor is the protagonist and Dorian is important to the plot. That's a big IF but it's still an IF that makes me not want Inquisitor back, or for that matter Dorian to have a lot of screentime and plot importance. Sorry for this pessimistic rant!

Sorry for this pessimistic rant! No, I absolutely see what you mean. I like Dorian, but I'd certainly rather BioWare keep make more than one gay male Dragon Age love interest now they've actually got started.

I mean .. yes, this would be possible but some folks are rather attached to their world states being cohesive. I'm one of those. I want to import to DA4 the the world state that I'm playing since DAO. I poured my thoughts and crafted those characters and if I change the romance option, it wouldn't be the same thing. And I want to play DA4 with all fun parts.

I choose dual, because that's a good idea; but I don't mind either way. Would I love to play the Inky again? Yup, but I won't let my heart dream about it and I'm open to what BW's in store for our next protagonist, as long as we have some choices in the matter.

I doubt they'll do it but it should be the Inquisitor only. Its on a personal level now, either him being a friend during your travels or the love of your life. Anyone else stepping in is just stupid.

After Trespasser, and now after the teaser, my preference is for the Inquisitior. Besides obviously facing off Solas, it'd be interesting to see a character that was once practically worshiped as a prophet, starting over again as a nobody in the streets of Tevinter. That's a huge fall from grace there... not to mention the arm. They could do some kind of unique/customizable weapon with the hand to replace the anchor. I'm not holding my breath though! Duel protagonists with an interconnected storyline and choices that effect one another would be cool. Failing that, a Hawke style cameo for an important mission....preferably one that will impact end game. I know it's kind of tradition to have new protagonist each game, but the Hawke cameo kind of broke that already, and I feel they really need to add something new to the formula anyway.

Is this the only reason why people don't want the inquisitor back, romance options. OMG this is why I hope BW stop with romances. Maybe all the new squadmates could be platonic relationships, no more new romances. Then the old romances can have a small cameo, or some can join your squad based on the player's choices.

Goldman already referred to romances in the blog, so it’s not going to happen.

It's not the main reason I don't want the Inquisitor as the main protagonist, it's just one reason. The bigger reason is that I like crafting a new character with new motivations for each game, my Inquisitor's not particularly attached to Solas beyond a vague desire to smack him with a rolled-up newspaper, opportunities to have a wide array of heroes (could be a dwarven prince in DAO, a human refugee in DA2, an elven Keeper in DAI, a qunari slave in DA4...), I like feeling the full scope of the world and having a new protagonist facilitates that... so many reasons. My Inquisitor's not fussed about her missing arm, is glad the Anchor's no longer killing her, and disbanded the Inquisition. I'm fine with her keeping an eye on Solas's activities and directing things here and there, but she doesn't have a vendetta against him and her stake in stopping him isn't personal, she just doesn't want Thedas to be Veil-nuked.
