Especially when he had an entire scene that has him say and show exactly that. IDK, I always kind of read his people-reading as maybe 20% real and 80% overconfidence. Maybe I just hang out with too many big egos in real life, but my first instinct was that he’s exaggerating. Vivienne doesn’t sit around bragging about her ability to people read, but she gets even closer to rumbling Solas than Bull does. Plus the whole “she’s a mage who’s fairly influential in the Game” thing. Bull learned to read people among literally the most straightforward culture in all of Thedas, he’s a big fish in a small pond.I never got the impression that Bull just learned to read people among the Qunari.... I mean, dude spent years in Seheron, Orlais, he's been to Tevinter and Fereldan and (iirc) Nevarra. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he spent time in Antiva and Rivain, but who knows? And he did get a read on Solas, talking about how his magic doesn't "clunk" like other apostates and isn't that suspicious. Honestly I just chalk it up to wonky writing. Like being able to lie to Leliana over and over again in DAO despite her being an accomplished spy.

Yea, but his main reading of Solas is that he's 'just weird' He may have had some clue that Solas could be more than he is (as is anyone, including Inquisitor, judging from a few comments they can make), but it's clear that Solas managed to confound Bull - even if these guys can, to both's surprise, strike a friendship. Bull has never concluded that Solas is working as an agent for his own cause, much less that he's an ancient god-like being. I'll just repeat what I did before - given that Qunari KNOW that they have an obstacle in form of Tal-Vashoth Bull in Inquisition, it's quite unlikely they didn't coordinate their operations in a way to avoid his suspicion. For all we know he may have caught a few stragglers, as Charters' note in Trespasser tells us that Inquisition had an eye on suspected and known double agents within Inquisition - but was unable to catch them all, especially given a.) how exotic and entirely unexpected the Qunari plan was and b.) the Qunari spies were basically everywhere in the South and infiltrated everything there is.
