I'm a big fan of chain mail and scale mail, sadly these two armors are vastly overlooked. Its always either sorcerer robes, rogue leather armor or tank full plate mail. I think there should be more focus on ''medium'' armors in general. Scale mail: Chain mail:
It would be a nice middle ground that's open to every class. Still, I think they need to get rid of the class restrictions on the armor. It kindof made sense with the DA:I crafting system, but that really depends whether the crafting system or the class restrictions came first. I miss being the arcane warrior/battlemage of DA:O. At the very least DA:I should have had the ability to generate a spirit shield to go with the blade (potentially attached to the staff)

I really don't want clothes or armor to be bulky. I started pkaying DOS 2, and I find all the clothes to be supremely ugly, at least on humans.

I approve of the gambesons! Yes, padded armor / gambesons! I recently saw a video about how effective they are, and boy, they are far better than they get credit for. It was very hard for swords to get all the way through to injure the wearer, which only worked with absolutely freshly honed razor-sharp blades. It also worked well against blunt weapons and even bows and spears. And I like how they look.

Or broken swords — something you have to be real careful of if you ever find yourself duelling with taped rapiers. If there’s a lot of temperature fluctuation or the blade is old, it can quickly turn from fun reenactment to a live weapon that can slide straight through a melon.

If there’s a lot of temperature fluctuation or the blade is old, it can quickly turn from fun reenactment to a live weapon that can slide straight through a melon. AWESOME. ...... I mean.... Oh no, thats quite horrible. Notice that I said “melon”, not “human being”. It definitely would slide straight through a human (including the several layers of sturdy cloth armor we wore), but the group I did swordfighting with was fastidiously careful with weak blades. In winter, every evening started with everyone warming their rapiers in their inner elbows. When fighting, any suspicious bends or anomalies in the tape were grounds for everyone in the room (or park) to Hold! while it was checked. If a blade did get old or break, then it got set aside for experiments. Including slabs of meat, melons, etc. People also did heavy weapon fighting, but IIRC that used weighted boffers rather than taped blades. People would wear thick leather with metal plates, or even full-on chainmail for that... and they’d still come to light weapons evenings with bruises. I only did the rapier and dagger stuff.

I would not like to see them go too overboard with feathers and jewels and silks and such... I did not like Dorian's armor, for instance, but he was a mage. Even so, as a mage, I don't like being forced to wear pretty, drapey fabrics and such. I like that as inquisitor I could still wear leathers (though I happily use the mod that lets me wear anymore, and as a mage, I always wear rogue armor). All of the armor on enemy Tevinter forces in DAI looked pretty absurd. I don't like it... pointy bits and puffy sleeves and just... ugh. I hope they don't go too over the top. Agree with pessimistpanda about preferring fitted clothing and armor to bulky, even on warriors (within reason). And agree with Giant Ambush Beetle on gambesons in fantasy settings. They are highly underrated! Fairly form-fitting but still do the job, can be sleeveless or otherwise, of varying lengths, etc.

I'd like the option for mages to go full-on Gandalf - robes, cloak, pointy hat, the works. Not saying all mages should dress like that, but it'd be fun.

I want more options that are just simple and sleek. I've often found that too many bells and whistles on an outfit tend to work against it's appeal for me. Sometimes. I do like some more complex things, like corsets and slightly puff sleeves (you know, when there's a little puff that gathers and then forms a long straight sleeve to the wrist), but I mostly just really wish we could a lot of sleek options that are still useful in combat.

Bikini armour for women! you are probably joking, but that was something that always bothered me, it's so unpractical that it hurts. and it's not just women, look at 300, the spartans didn't go to battle wearing underwear and capes only... That hat will never not make me die of laughter whenever I’m reminded of it. Man’s carrying a whole entire space station on his head and acting like it’s nothing. part of the job description, "with great powers comes great responsibility", as they say. see, the hat is a metaphor of tevinter and the archon need to carry all of tevinter on their head.

it's so unpractical that it hurts. Obviously I never understood why it would bother people. It is obviously impractical, even someone without any knowledge on the matter of armour in general knows it. But it looks cool, and it is sexy. Of course, disregarding the whole: "blah blah blah objectification of women blah blah blah" But yes, it was not meant to be taken seriously, I would not want Bioware to go away from what they have built so far in terms of style. Even the grey warden's armour with the small chest plate is impractical, but damn, it looks awesome. I like things that look awesome, guilty indeed.

it's so unpractical that it hurts. I never understood why it would bother people. can't say about other people, but for me it is the fact that there is no logic behind it, it's just for the sake of sex appeal for the viewer (why would someone that fight for their life care about that?). i'm fine with someone wearing cloth for the sake of sacrificing protection for speed, but fighting half naked? who would do that? also it's not comfortable either, try fighting with metal bikini on your tits. i see nothing cool in fighting with no protection, and if you are not wearing protection anyway, might as well put on clothes. and for me, a female fighter with full armor is more sexy than one with barely no clothes. you can look awesome while still making sense, shepard's armor is proof of that. also check out the trollhunters armor, it give a good combo of practical and looking good:

but for me it is the fact that there is no logic behind it Certainly. And I also enjoy some logic behind the ability to create ice out of absolutely nothing Really though, I simply enjoy a little switchy off now and again, I don't necessarily have to boast about my incredibly smartness all the time. it's just for the sake of sex appeal for the viewer I do not see a problem here, I love when things are aethestically pleasing, be it just a pleasant view or a... dare I say arousing? I'll use arousing from the lack of a better word, view. i'm fine with someone wearing cloth for the sake of sacrificing protection for speed Since we are on the subject of logic. There is no logic in sacrificing armour for speed... armour won't slow you down that much anyhow, this is of course me assuming that if you'd wear armour in the first place, then you have the money, physique and fitness to actually wear it and move in it. Atleast a full set of proper armour. No one I assume... good thing the player behind the screen is not sacrificng his or her own life i see nothing cool in fighting with no protection I do hope that you are funnier at parties then! a female fighter with full armor is more sexy than one with barely no clothes. I suppose we can't all enjoy the luscious view of a feminine body, I won't judge.

see here is the thing, it's logical as long as it works with the laws of the world it's in, but nice try You did suggest wearing clothes into battle Which a lot of the rogue characters also do, quite succesfully too. So why not bikini armour You seem to neglect quite a lot despite the desire for logic hey look, if you wanna masturbate over a character that's your business You are damn right it is! i don't see why the creators need to do stuff in order for you to have more things to masturbate on. Neither do I, really. you never wore a full metal heavy armor have you? As a matter of fact, I have. But just between you and I, I am in rather great physical shape, I am fairly well built too. Which, again, you'd usually be if wearing armour... it is not as restrictive as you may want to believe... for whatever reason. and i suppose we can't all prefer badass over naked I like both! I also like Conan the barbarian.

Certainly! (also, most rogues wear leather armor, it's actually quite protective). Argueably. Depends entirely on the weaponry used. A dull blade would not be very useful well he did got the naked part covered. Yeah
