Doom Eternal Battle mode. I don't know why is this was needed for this good title overall, i mean this was the worst multiplayer game i have ever experienced lately. However i liked the campaign even tough it was very short, i jumped right into it with Ultra Violence difficulty and it was really good, i have died many times but this is because the game forcing the player to memorize everything in the room from wave to wave and forcing the player to plan forward which strategy is the best for every single room arena, yes the game uses the same old Painkiller arena from arena fights with a lot of melee combat. For me Doom Eternal and Doom 2016 campaign was good, i like both of them more as i like the original Doom 3 and RoE, but none of these can capture the essence of the original Doom 1-2 and Doom 64 games.

Of all time? Enter the Matrix. I did play through it twice, just to see the different experience that Niobe offers over ghost. Result: there was none.
Lately: I would say MEASP, but that is relative.

The most recent one would probably be Star Wars Battlefront by EA.

I can't possibly recall the worst game I ever played, I mean it's probably some C64 or NES game I once tried on emulation.
When it comes to stuff that left a lasting impression, probably Witcher 1+2.
Recently, Witcher 3. I know very well I'm greatly at odds with very most people on this, but for the love of God I hate this series. It rubs me the wrong way in so many ways, don't know. I hate the combat, I hate the dialogue, I hate Geralt... actually I'm just trying to give W3 another go because people praise it so much and tell me it's so worth it. I'm trying, let's see if it somehow clicks.
But if you ask me about hateful game experiences that I can't forget, it's always the Witcher games that instantly come to mind.
edit: oh, I hated Mass Effect 3 too. Dearly hated it. Loved to hate it. But there was love involved. And the combat was great fun.
edit 2: and if we're talking about games that are just terrible, not just something I hate, Dragon's Lair comes to mind. That's a good example of a game that's not just against my taste, but objectively woeful.

*jumps on necro thread*
Needs an update for Andromeda which was the most disappointing game I've ever played.
Please note that disappointing is not the same as worst. Not sure at all which was the worst. Probably something from my childhood. Among the worst was Price Of Persia: Forgotten Sands. Even had a game-breaking savegame bug at the very end that had me rage so hard. Also pretty terrible: Farcry 5. Atrocious ending to a cringy story.

Not really sure what for me as these dfays I'm reall ycareful about games I buy but if I had to pick one. I rwould probably be F1 2013 one of Codemasters F1 games .The AI in that game was over the top aggressive and the tyres ewre god awful as bad as they were in the reqal life season but it just made the cars so awkward to drive and therefoer enjo ythe game properly.

Lately: TLOU2.... shitty writing and gameplay I just don’t find fun, though that is more because if the misery porn it involves you in. It’s a game that I regret suffering through. Just not good at all.
All time: controversy incoming... Breath of the Wild. I know there are broken or messy ass games out there, but no game has pissed me off like BotW. Takes the Zelda formula, shits on it, and replaces it with one of the most shallow, empty, and boring worlds in the genre. Add one dimensional walking cliches, outdated mechanics, no story, and no reason to explore the world and you have the worst game I bashed my head against. Fuck BotW. Fuck Nintendo.
Now excuse me... I need to blow something up to calm down again.

Uhm... the worst ever...? that may be Earth Empire III, that game was the biggest decline i've ever witness in any game, EEII had like 10 different factions and combined AoE mechanics with a more broad age period (stone age - near future). EEIII took that and Ubersimplified to 3 factions (Asian, middle east and western) and did the same to the age periods (Stone age, Medieval, WWI-WWII and the future)... yikes. The worst lately..? Battlefield V, i've never imagine i would felt cheated in a BF title, it was a buggy mess at the start (not as much as bf4, but still), it got like 10% of BF4 content at launch (now it must sits between 40 - 60 %) and the few things it got to offer where behind BIG FAT grindy walls (unless you are willing to lay down more $$ into the game). 2 years and i still want a refund.

I've bought a bunch of games that I have had anywhere from a couple of hours on them to several days of playtime only to realize they just weren't my cup of tea but that doesn't make them a bad game and I'm not going to trash them just because I personally didn't like them but....
as far as my "Let Downs" go, my most current is TLoU2. Seriously, Ghost of Tsushima had a better revenge plot than TLoU2 and it was on a side character none the less.
Overall the honor goes to FarCry 5. My 120 hours completely felt wasted with the ending they gave us.

Worst of all time is probably Star Ocean: Last Hope. Really every Star Ocean game I ever tried to play sucked really bad.
Worst RECENTLY is... maybe Last of Us 2. Not for the reasons other people are crying about it. It just got boring after a while and when they made me switch to Abby I straight up lost all interest.
Oh, and I gave Child of Light a try since it was on heavy sale on the Switch and... that "rhyming" dialogue, man. I hate it so fucking much.

Worst of all time? Star Wars the Force Unleashed. I haaaaattteee this frakin game with the burning passion of a thousand super novas. I forced myself to finish it for some god awful reason and am eminently glad I did not pick up the second one at the same time as the first. God awful story that really wasn't needed (and then told much better in Rebels) God Awful platforming QTE inspired mess of gameplay. God awful unneccessary 'Gary Stu' style protagonist. Juno Eclipse and Rahm Kota did keep this game from being a complete disaster, but even they could not save this mess of a game from the top down. Ugh just that stupid pointless philosophical namby pamby typical of Lucas ending too when Starkiller wallops both Vader and the Emperor...two of the most feared SWs baddies at that point...and then sacrifices himself because 'you can't kill people and not turn to the darkside' or some such nonsense was just the icing on the cake. This whole game is like 60% of the reason I am glad Disney nuked the Old EU from orbit just to obliterate it from canon. (Though the other 40% is their great storytelling).
Lately? Uncharted. The original. Granted the sequels did at least get better so they are passable overall but I am shocked and amazed that the first one spawned sequels with how crappy it was and how low the production values were. I spent a lot of time ranting about this game in the 'what did yo do today thread' and between these three games and the original Last of Us I've conclused Naughty Dog just is not for me.

Uncharted 1 was more of a techdemo with a game on top of it - well not really, but in the end thats what most interested me at the time. After slaughtering thousand pirates... (why?) it ends. Nice musics though also.

Because I never heard anybody dislike that game. I wouldn't say I dislike the game per se, that seems a bit too strong, more that I had mixed feelings about it- like I said the artwork was absolutely gorgeous, may well have been some of the best in-game art I've ever seen. Absolutely beautiful. But the story and dialogue... not so much. And the game mechanics were fairly vanilla, i.e. fairly typical RPG fare so not really any positive or negative feelings either way on that count. And it may well have been that I didn't get deep enough into the story to get hooked by it, and I'd have different feelings if I had put in more time. So I can certainly understand people who really enjoyed it, even if I wasn't quite there myself.

One game I strongly disliked was COD: Black OPS III, where the franchise started to delve into Psycho-Thriller with the creepy interrogation scenes. The story/campaign was a garbled mess and one of the shortest games I've ever played. I finished it in less than 4 hours. That was where I really started losing interest in not only the COD franchise, but First-Person Shooters in general.
THe reboot of DOOM (2016 version) was also really bad. It was just gratuitous gore for the sake of gratuitous gore. In my opinion, DOOM will always and only be the original floppy disk versions of the 1990s.
And while I enjoyed the ninja-style gameplay....I'm going to say that Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360 was also a negative for me, not because of the gameplay, story, graphics or anything of that nature....But because of the absolutely insane difficulty. I played on the easiest difficulty there was, and still couldn't make it past Level 2 where you fight the snake-thing in the abandoned train tunnels. Had it for nearly a year, never did make it past that boss. So I sold it second-hand to Best Buy. Shame too, because I was really looking forward to the game; it brought back memories of the original Ninja Gaiden series for the NES, which was also quite hard for the time.
Without a doubt, the best games (taken as a whole) I've ever played are the ME OT. In more recent/modern times and titles, Fallen Order ranks pretty closely. I love the story, the gameplay, the combat, the characters; it's the closest thing to the Jedi Knight series (1997-2003 LEC) that any game company has produced since. And the whole Dark Forces series is still to this day, right up there with ME OT for me. I remember the original Dark Forces....it was hyped to be "A DOOM style game set in the star wars universe...." (and it had something that no other game before it had, 3D rendered models. In DOOM...when you shot a monster and it fell to the ground, no matter what angle you looked at it from it would always maintain its original position, because it was merely a 2D bitmap. Dark Forces changed that with 3D rendering, which was revolutionary for the time so now when you shot an offiver or stormtrooper and they fell to the ground, their body position appeared to change depending on the angle you looked at them from even as you walked past.) Also, because of this feature and its story, Dark Forces actually made the News. I remember seeing the original newscast on ABC where they talked about the new characters characters and the direction would possibly take. They showed the clip where Moff Rebus is talking to Vader about the Dark Trooper Project.
I knew then that it was a game I wanted to buy. It was released February 28th 1995, my dad bought it for me as a birthday present the following week. At the time, he was really into DOOM and DOOM II, so he played this new title called DARK FORCES, also hearing it was supposed to be a 'star wars version of DOOM'.....and he wound up really really enjoying it. There were several mornings over the month that we played it together when we would talk about what level we were on, comparing gameplay styles and experiences....To this day, that remains one of my fondest gaming memories. My receiving of Rebel Assault II The Hidden Empire for Christmas the year it was released (which I have mentioned before in other posts) is another.

The insistence on making all of Child of Light's dialogue and narration into "rhyming" couplets (I use quotes because most of them DON'T rhyme) REALLY drags down the entire experience. Especially because the poetry is FUCKING TERRIBLE.
The meter is all over the fucking place, they're constantly cramming in too many syllables, and this isn't something that only happens late in the game, but right at the very start and it is CONSTANT.
If you're going to make a game in a 'storybook' style, at least actually READ some fucking children's poetry, because none of it is as bad as the utter garbage Child of Light has assaulted my eyes with.

All time? not entirely sure, because when I was younger by BS radar wasn't very good. Either 99 Nights, or Risen. I've probably played a game more objectively bad than either of those, but I remember hating them both with the heat of a supernova. Now obviously nothing has ever pissed me off more than ME3, but I cannot in good faith say ME3 is the worst thing I ever played, just the most disappointing.
Most recently? again thats difficult, because these days my BS radar is almost always on point. The only time I play bad games now is when I see random indie games on Steam and decide to take chances with them, trying to broaden my horizons and such. Most of them I ended up refunding and removing from memory. The most recent game that I can recall playing and really not liking at all, probably has to be Black Desert Online. That game can kick rocks.

Off all time it would be WCW: Backstage Assault was the worst game I've ever played. It's just bad all the way around. Crappy controls, gameplay, graphics, and concept of wrestling everywhere not in the ring that sounds like a cool idea but it makes it a shitty fighting game instead of wrestling game.
My least favorite game of this generation recently would be Greedfall it's developer Spiders is trying so hard to be the new BioWare but the game is just so bland and forgettable. The characters are so bland and lame the story is weak, and the factions are annoying. The world isn't interesting.

Worst Ever: If I'm completely honest it's gotta be KOTOR 1 - and I say this as a Star Wars fan and someone who loves KOTOR 2 and SWTOR. The thing about the original KOTOR for me is probably that the game has just aged terribly - and I played it for the first time a couple of years ago. It was very buggy, I thought the characters and story telling were kind of bland and overall I just didn't enjoy it very much. I knew about the Revan twist before I played the game and I really hated the guy in SWTOR so that definitely didn't make things better. I think the game had a very black and white morality system - either you're a saint or you kill everyone for lolz. There were some things I liked about the game - Revan's special connection with Bastila, for example. I hope there's a KOTOR remake someday.
Worst Lately: MEA. Playing it currently. Not the worst game ever, but I simply don't find it to be very enjoyable. For me the biggest problem with MEA will always be the bad writing and the fact that I can't stand Ryder - worst player character in any Bioware game ever.
