The censorship looks ridiculous too. Who is this supposed to appeal to, The Saudis or dudes to the left of Bernie? / Somehow the pic on the right looks more tasteful than that Abby scene.

Stellar Blade PS5 Fans Irate Over Alleged Censorship www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/04/stellar-blade-ps5-fans-irate-over-alleged-censorship#commentsHonestly, it would’ve been better if they never showed off the outfits and instead kept them as a mystery to be unlocked. That being said, Stellar Blade is still a good step, albeit a small one, in the right direction. User scores are also coming in and it’s an average of 8.9. With the average critic score at an 8.2, I would say that Stellar Blade turned out well with all things considered. Good game. One million copies in 24 hours. That’s pretty bloody good. Update: Here’s something interesting: #m “We couldn’t prevent people from not connecting to the network” Sony is offering refunds for false advertising but you only get store credit if they can’t properly refund you. #m #m Did Sony deliberately sabotage a promising game by slapping it with obligations that would trigger backlash toward the developers? I hope this is just a conspiracy because if it is true then the implications are so disturbing it would make George Orwell blush.

I hope this is just a conspiracy because if it is true then the implications are so disturbing it would make George Orwell blush. I don't think it was designed to direct backlash towards developers, but I think it is Sony taking advantage of a smaller developer like what happened with Hello Games where Sony pretty much left them hanging in the breeze as well. To me Hello Games has had the last laugh for they are still working on No Man's Sky and gaining some reputation back for staying with the game and improving it.

Hello Games is a studio of 12 based in the relatively non-competitive UK developer market whose reach exceeded their grasp because their inexperienced CEO made too many promises on camera. Shift Up is a studio of almost 300 in the pit-viper gacha hell that is South Korea’s video game market, they are used to scummy practices by publishers.

Do you remember the time when it was the pastors and the Moms censoring sexy content? Now it's the people who once protested against it are foaming at the mouth trying to censor the content lol. A lot of developers and studios who were edgy in the 90s to 2010s have turned into prudes who want to beat us over the head with their moral authority stick. I don't know if the reason is aging out or this weird yin-yang cycle of hedonism to puritanism, but it is quite annoying to hear them condemn the risque edginess that propelled them to success.

I honestly thought this game failed, but to have it beat Nioh is shocking.

So, people online talk about single player games not being prominent in the market but yet the second one critically acclaimed single title comes along, THEY DON'T BUY THEM! It's little wonder why gaming companies don't listen to the internet.

The Alan Wake sales don't surprise me. The first one wasn't a huge success and honestly Remedy games have always been pretty out there. I think the strangeness of their titles, while making them unique, offers them a lot less mass appeal.

It's little wonder why gaming companies don't listen to the internet. It's the triple A industry. FOR EXAMPLE, a couple of days ago this little indie game, reportedly developed by a few people (they say 1 but whatever, I'll just say a few) sold more than 1 million copies, rated extremely highly on Steam, and is getting 100k concurrent on Steamcharts store.steampowered.com/app/1363080/Manor_Lords/Before Manor Lords it was Palword. Or Valheim. Or sodding I don't know, Vampire Survivors. It's almost like people are sick of the AAA industry or something ... Who cares if they are critically acclaimed, critics don't know shit about Vidya Games

It's little wonder why gaming companies don't listen to the internet. Alan Wake 2 is also an Epic Store exclusive on PC, which can't be helping it's market share. That's definitely why I haven't bought it.
(In theory I approve of Steam having competition. In practice dealing with the Epic store annoyed me so much when I was playing Hitman 3 that I paid full price for the game a second time when it came to Steam.)

Who cares if they are critically acclaimed, critics don't know shit about Vidya Games I’m glad you brought this up because Act Man made a video about why AAA is so terrible now. AAA game development is a bloated bureaucratic mess. This mess gets worse when you add a budget of hundreds of millions which causes investors to get involved and they muck up production even more with their demands. There is no room for creativity nor risk taking. The sweet spot is having a much smaller team with a much smaller budget and no micromanagement by investors nor publishers.

The one question I have for people is when they bring up the smaller games to show how successful they are is "are you willing to have your franchises look like that?". What I mean is do you want to see <insert the game they want a sequel of> to be under the same constraints as those lower budget titles. That is the problem right now for with a Mass Effect game is talked about being in development and out comes the list of things people want in the game. Romances, space flight sim, space combat, more combat, bigger areas, 4K, etc. Everything costs and the more costs that go into a game the blander it becomes to try and break even.
I bet BioWare could be interested in making another game like Mass Effect 1, but it would have the same weaknesses that came with the first title. In this modern age, I just don't see people willing to take the shortcuts BioWare did then with the UNC planets, the shortness of the game, or only three romances and it isn't equal for there isn't a M/M romance. Personally, I would be all for BioWare reducing or removing elements from some of their games to make the story and dialogue better, but I also accept I am probably in the minority.

I’m willing to sacrifice graphics, voice-acting and animations to have a damn good game that I can replay for years. I’m okay with turning Mass Effect into Dragon Age origins if we get a good story and serviceable gameplay.
Helldivers 2 community manager admitting that they wanted the PSN account requirement to ban more effectively followed by locking the account. #m
Wow, why are community managers so bad at their jobs? You’re suppose to redirect the outrage elsewhere, no toward the developers. That being said, that’s an awful thing of the developers to do.
