Putting aside the Inquisitor and their four voices for a moment... do you think we'll get four VAs if we get another protagonist? A male and female voice that defaults to humans/elves and dwarves/qunari (but you can still apply to either, of course)? I'm hoping we'll have multiple races and that this will be an option again. I kind of hope there's a pitch slider. I like Sumalee Montano for my dwarves and qunari because of the accent, but when I hear her voice I automatically think of my Adaar and it's hard to apply it to another character. That's on me, but I still think it'd be nice to be able to lower/raise the pitch of the VA's voice to better customize each character. I also think it'd be nice if you could choose from any of the voices regardless of gender, in addition to the pitch slider. I would love Zelda Williams: James Purefoy:

I just want the protagonist to be Orlesian, and have outrageously fake accent. I'm thinking Steve-Martin-as-Inspectpor-Clouseau bad.

Big fan of lower-register, more butch female voices and higher-register, more femme male voices. I like when my PC can hit right on the masculine edge of that middle zone. Out of all 4 options, Sumalee’s voice was my favorite in DA:I, and probably my favorite protagonist voice in the whole series (yes I’m including the one-line combat grunts in Origins).
Would also be interested in accents other than British and American/Canadian, now that we’re in northern Thedas.

Yes, if we are going to have a voiced protagonist then I would definitely prefer having 4 voices like DAI. I like the idea about pitch sliders as well - I wonder how hard that would be to implement.
I'm good with silent protagonists too but I can't imagine that happening.

Something Orlesian for the Humans and Elves. Like, actually french-sounding, not obnoxiously french-sounding (if that's even possible). Something more Americanish for the Tal-Vashoth and Dwarves, though maybe have the Kal-Sharok Dwarven accent be distinct?

well as female voice actress goes, i'd go for jules de jongh (faith connors, mirrior's edge; cora, mass effect andromeda), she's great. i'm also good with saoirse ronan. male voice actor, roger clark easy (arthur morgan in red dead redemption 2). I just want the protagonist to be Orlesian, and have outrageously fake accent. I'm thinking Steve-Martin-as-Inspectpor-Clouseau bad. well as the famous qunari saying goes: "no."

I admit it's partly because I'm big into Critical Role, but I'd love to hear any of those voice actors (especially Matt Mercer, Laura Bailey or Liam O'Brien) for a new protagonist.

Why not a protagonist from Antiva or Nevarra to shake the accents up a bit? Or a Dwarf from Kal-Sharok - who knows what they sound like? Realistically, there might be Qunari from another part of Par Vollen who talk completely differently from the ones we've seen so far.

I'm hoping we'll have the 4 races and 4 VAs again. A pitch slider is an interesting idea, though I don't remember playing a game that had one.
I trust BW to find the right VAs for these roles, they've always been good with casting. Though having just played AC: Odyssey, it'd be awesome if they could nab Kassandra's VA - Melissanthi Mahmut.

Realistically, there might be Qunari from another part of Par Vollen who talk completely differently from the ones we've seen so far. Or if a Qunari is a former Tevinter slave, they might have a Tevinter accent, which is predominantly British but can vary by region, i.e. the Pavuses have a somewhat different accent than Danarius or Alexius. There’s also a significant Qunari presence in Rivain, though it doesn’t seem like Rivain is an outlier with regards to accents.

I wouldn't mind deviating from English or American accents, but I'm hoping to play a Tevinter, Par Vollen, or Seheron native, so I dunno. 👀 A pitch slider is an interesting idea, though I don't remember playing a game that had one. I can only think of The Sims, honestly.

I personally prefer silent protagonists but since that is unlikely, I hope there will be four. I would have felt irritated getting stuck with just the American voice actors in DAI and probably would've shut off my game. They obnoxiously grated on my ears. For DA4 I really don't want to hear another British accent for the PC but I would probably make an exception for Richard Armitage. Even still, I'd rather him voice a companion.
As for voice actors I like etc. I am finding Kassandra's voice from assassin's creed cute and I love Alexios's as well, I don't know why he gets so much hate. Another one I find appealing (and this would probably be very unpopular) is the guy that voices Morvran Voorhis from the witcher 3....although I'm not really sure what accent that is.
Cass from inquisition also has a lovely accent but again, I'm lost as to what it is.

It's not a real accent. re: other games with voice sliders, Dragon's Dogma has them. They're ... rather hilariously awful vertigomez your picks are actually so perfect I have nothing left to add!!

Realistically, there might be Qunari from another part of Par Vollen who talk completely differently from the ones we've seen so far. Weren't the Dwarves originally going to have German accents in Origins, before the devs nixed the idea?
What if Kal-Sharok still has more of the "traditional" Germanic accent of the old Dwarven Empire, which was later supplanted by the Orzammar accent after it became the capitol. The accent still could survive in Kal-Sharok because of their relative isolationism, so they sound far more "German" than other Dwarves?
(Although the Anderfels might be better suited for having German accents, given place-names like Weisshaupt)

I'm very behind Kal Sharok dwarves having a different accent to Orzammer.
And yeah I think having 2 accents for each gender that you can freely choose between worked great in Inquisition
(the english and american voices suited the personalities of my dwarf and elf, respectively. So i'm glad they didn't make you stick with the default accent for each race.)

This is all pie in the sky. I'd love Stephanie Young for the female character but it'll never happen. If I were a betting man I'd wager against having multiple gender VA options in DA4...though that was a really nice feature. Regardless, I have a lot of faith Bioware will make good selections.

As much as I love getting choice of voice like in Inquisition, I'd rather trade that for more dialogue. If that means all player character options have the same accent, then so be it.

It would just result in them saving money by not hiring two other VAs. Plus didn’t DAI have the most lines for the protagonist in their games?

I was thinking about this earlier today. I actually thought Theo James did a good job as Hector in the Netflix series Castlevania and I thought, “He has a nice deep voice, and he did a decent job in the series.”
But then I looked up the video and realized that bastard’s really handsome, so now I hate his guts. :jealous:

I'm not so sure on the protagonists themselves per se but what I would like to see is some of these VAs that already ARE in BioWare games and DA in particular and we know will/ should play a part in the game get more of their 'friends' and actors who I respect and admire into it and some of them could probably use the work.
Have Claudia Black get Ben Browder to join in.
Have Gareth David Lloyd get John Barrowman and then maybe even by extension Stephen Amell.
These people can be Protagonists, antagonists, or just cameo quest givers but I do like the cut of their various jibs as it were. Probably a pipe dream, but it would be nice.
