Well, I came back to Anthem after a bit of a break to finish off the new DLC for BL2 in prep for BL3 in the next week or so.
I completed the story missions before the Cataclysm and then did 3 runs. After the first I got a nasty Xbox message from one of the players telling me I suck and that if I don't know how to play to watch some vids. That was nice. The 2nd and 3rd runs were much better but for each one we only went through 3 rounds. I thought there was a total of 7, or does that only come with more time being available?

If you only did three … then someone went to Vara after the third (probably farming the daily "toy" drop for the Javelin they were running). There are seven … generally speaking folks will do the seven, ignoring all the other stuff, then circle around for the other stuff, when the XP multiplier is higher, to gain a higher score and more crystals … to buy more stuff at the store. FYI … you gain one multiplier for each event. When out in the storm or rift unstable, your XP multiplier is doubled for all you do. Vulk's guide is a good place to start … to learn about the cat. Instead of sending you a rude message after the fact, a decent player might have helped coach you through the seven events and the aftermath … as well as how to take on Vara. Folks helped me early on … always happy to help new folks … nice to see folks pay it forward, work together … rather than bitch about a newby.

So today we took another shot at getting some good runs in. Unfortunately we did have another server shutdown. I really don't know how the topscorers do it without crashing the server due to excessive Vara adds farming. We did another run after that and got 18.459.442 points - so there's over a million missing to the top spot. I can see ourselves do better at some locations, we also got Astrid killed at only 8x instead of 16x in this run and we tried to not farm as many adds as we would have liked because we didn't want to risk another server crash. Maybe I'll upload the video of the video, especially since I'm doing the southern route instead of the northern one that I have already covered in previous videos and also it might be helpful for some people to see the Valkyrie kills (at least the ones I watch or do myself). Although I'd really like to have a fix for the problems with the current patch first and also get above 19 million before I upload more stuff.
In other news... I opened close to 70 boxes without any legendary. Well, there was one in the last - but it was a Colossus melee and a bad one as well. Really frustrating if you open that many boxes without getting legendaries (especially when in the same time a squadmate opens 30 and gets 13 legendaries out of it...). Stupid RNG...

Folks helped me early on … always happy to help new folks … nice to see folks pay it forward, work together … rather than bitch about a newby. I thought it was rather strange myself to get a message like that. I mean I expect it in Destiny but not in Anthem. Everyone I've met up with either here or in the game have been very nice. I've even friended a few on Xbox as a result. I found out there were 7 events after the fact. I wanted to go in cold to experience it that way vs looking at vids/guides (I think that was my mistake). The 3 groups I was in all did the first 2 events and then went straight to Vara, which we killed with no issue. I just followed them after each event. Maybe they didn't know about the others either. Since I've started watching vids and reading about the cataclysm I've noticed there are secrets all over the place, it just takes time to go off and get them. One thing that was strange about the 3 runs was that I was getting duplicates of the same weapon at the end of each run, 2 snipers, 2 AR's, etc., of exactly the same weapon. They had different stats, but were the same weapon. Is that being done on purpose for some weird reason? Last night I just went in and focused on freeplay cataclysm. That was fun but I only noticed one other out there the whole time. I've also discovered the melee on the Storm since I got an 80 level melee weapon (Lightning Surge), holy cow!!!!! Mostly I'm just hovering and killing from above, but damn, if melee is this much fun with the other 3 I just might have to switch out and give them a try.

The other night in Anthem, I got stuck with a glitched up Takaro because we only ended up with 2 orbs. I think I ran around the ring 8 or 9 times looking for that last orb, and checked if any of the other pugs had it, but it just never reappeared. There were definitely 3 to start off with, the only thing I can think of is if someone ran off with it and stuffed it elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure that didn't happen. Other than that, can't complain, lobbies are still full on GM1, I even tried to go to easy to see if anyone needed a tour guide but they all seemed to have it all figured out. Have those last 2 challenges unlocked yet? I've not played for the last few days.

Did a couple runs this weekend, but not a lot. Nothing special happened. I got quite a bit of lemons, but none of them good (If I have to see one more damned steam vent with goddamned extra charges and no jesusdamned damage, I might hurt someone). I am getting the hang of storm on GM3 though. Even with the nerf to steam vent, having a 4-charge steam vent is a fun thing to have And coupled with ice storm (How I still only have this at masterwork after all hours invested in storm, I'll never understand. It REFUSES to drop at legendary...), it is a very good combination of party support and 'fuck that guy in particular'. And Jarra of course, as a back-up >_> Also, I FOMO'd out and bought the crystal material in the shop, now I'm back to 40k JUST as I saved up enough for lancer of fortune should it ever become available again... *sigh* BUT the crystal material is awesome and really completes my storm's look. It's real flashy lookin' on the cape EDIT: I posted my thoughts on reddit, what do you guys think?

Did three more runs. Both times on GM3 I had to drag the game to glory while the randoms did their best to make my life miserable >_>. Very tiresome. I think for the future, playing as storm, I'm going to let the randoms be random, and just do the events the're not going to (if they go casja and kelrik, I go astrid and takaro, and vice cersa . And for my troubles I got... 1 (useless) lemon from 40 boxes ( Lady luck is a fickle b*tch. PS: I did get voiltaic dome as masterwork, though. Still hadn't had that one >_>

I'm putting down Anthem for MHW after the cataclysm. I'll get GoW at a later time (maybe reduced price), as I actually have quite a bit of stuff to play still >_> Anyhoo... got in one game last night. GM3 is really starting to slow down again in terms of population... I loaded up with only one other guy which (good on him, tyvm) didn't leave. We did all cataclysm events under my leadership (which is basically just me spamming "follow me" and solo-ing the puzzles asap lol). Then I went around and collected the echoes, and then we attacked vara. I am ashamed to say we couldn't out dps the clock (even with a still uber-Jarra), and vara was left with 25% health at the end But it was great fun to duo the cataclysm. I'm also really starting to get the hang of storm in GM3. It's not as bad as I used to think, and having a 4-charges steam vent does help (ice storm-SV-SV and repeat for some real quick single target damage). I'm kind of torn to spend my last remaining time in the cataclysm grinding for a good god roll gun (now that jarra is no longer king) or for a god roll steam vent... statistically, a decent gun is probably likelier >_>

Definitely worth a look for all the Bioware vibes it has (people say also Fable, Gothic, Dragon Dogma, etc. Never played those myself.), probably the only good western RPG to release this year and I don't think there will be any other until Cyberpunk.

Haha, it's not a "western" as in RDR sense. It's a western RPG as opposed to JRPGs that are "eastern". All ME and DA games are western RPGs too. Greedfall is a fantasy theme of a 17th century colonial setting with magic, swordplay and, well, yes, guns too, but they are more with the 17th century aesthetic. No horses, no cowboys, no heists For some reason it gives me the good kind of DA2 vibes.

We don't know when the cataclysm will end. Though it was supposed to be two weeks pre-event and the a six week event. They gave us un extra week five because of some of the bugs in 1.4. So this is week five and presumably next week is the last one in which we get to stop Vara for good. Then it is off to whatever is going on in emerald abyss.

probably the only good western RPG to release this year please, enlighten me... what is a "western" RPG, what defines it... I heard the term before and always wondered... Generally it refers to RPG focused games made in North America and Europe. It has more to do with the presentation and the RPG style of those games (think Fallout, Baldur's gate, Dragon age, Mass Effect, Witcher, etc), which is very different from the Japanese RPGs (JRPGs - "Final Fantasy" being the most famous example). The nationality of the game developer is not always the deciding factor - there are JRPG style games made by western studios and vice versa. "Dark Souls" (it's more of an aRPG, but couldn't think of a better example) is very western in style, but made by a Japanese studio. "Anachronox" is a very JRPG styled game, but made by a US studio (damn shame it didn't get a sequel).

Maybe if I end up with no games left to play in my ever growing backlog, and anthem becomes dull again, this might change. Currently, I am just passing the time between now and Cyberpunk release date. I am so going solo

That's really weird. I can understand people not liking the movement and behaviour of all 3 other javs - Interceptor may be too fast and hard to handle for some for example, Colossus being too slow and without a quick dash and such and Storm being too floaty and spongy with his movement. But the Ranger is as straightforward as it gets I think. No judgement there, just a bit surprised...
maybe that is exactly the point - it feels too ordninary, too mainstream, like the soldier class in Mass Effect... in none of the 3 installments I ever touched that class - just meh, I just don't feel the soldier vibe probably and am more drawn to the special classes (in SWTOR there is a title "A Special Snowflake" - I wear that proudly )
but alas - to each her own, right Snowflakes are pretty! Seriously though, I agree about the Soldier class in ME.....I always played as a Vanguard because I loved the "Biotic Charge" (still do)...I love getting up close and personal, hitting my enemies REALLY hard and spraying them with the ME version of buckshot.

Today in anthem: Population is taking a nosedive. It's been a lot more difficult the last few days to get a gm3 pug team together, and even then, even more difficult to find people who know it. How weird is it that people don't know the cataclysm by now and fuck everything up? A record of my evening. 1st GM3 game we loaded up with 3 people. 2 of us flew to magnus, the other remained (and had left the game by the time we got there). The other guy did absolutely nothing at magnus except fight the enemies (poorly). At the end, after I near-solo'd the event, he died. So I just thought 'fuck it', and left as well. 2nd game was actually decent. 1 also left at the first event (wtf is this shit?), so I was left with one other player who spent more time dead than anythign else, and one other guy (shoutout to Ninjaboii!) who actually knew what he was doing and it was nice playing with him. We did all the puzzles, and all major secrets. Ended up with a cool 10m, not bad for 2,5 people. 3rd game Magnus was okay, britaheim I basically had to solo because people just want to attack enemies instead of puzzling , and at astrid I lost my marbles when someone was actively working against me (or so it was, seemingly) to do the puzzle, so again, I left. 4th game... Loaded up with 3 again, one left by the time we were at magnus, and the last guy (who didn't help with the nmagnus puzzle again, btw) left after magnus as well. At this point I had given up trying to enjoy my evening, so I just figured: "you know what? Fuck other people! I'm soloing this bitch!". So I solo'd the whole cataclysm on gm3. Well, Let's just say I did all the puzzles and I didn't do diana and vara ( not that I wouldn't have been able to, it just would've taken to long). I also collected all major and a boatload of minor secrets, so I clocked out at 4.5m crystals! Not bad for a solo gm3 run! I felt quite accomplished. Makes me question the obstinacy of not having private modes for everything. And also, another matchmaking system that thins stupid gank we got going now. I mean, that's fine if you have a giant playerbase, but the lobby system from me3/mea is way better. PS: Oh, and what did I get for my troubles? Nothing even remotely of use, that's what: Oh yay, yet ANOTHER lightning rod with 200+ damage? Whatever am I going to do with 5 200+ damage lightnign rods? ffs.

Got to admit that I've never noticed the population nosedive. Another day without the legendary Tip of the spear. My only advice for those of you that are struggling with pugs is get a group/join a discord.

yesterday in Anthem - finally got a lemon Rampager with +225% weapon damage (would have liked +225% melee more ) so the specific jav-chests are not too bad, at least the odds are a bit better when you are looking for a thing for a specific jav and I am still missing A LOT beacuse RNGesus wasn't kind lately
