I like Venom Darts (Tactical Onslaught) a lot … level 20 effects … good for both mooks and elites to quickly prime … then detonate with my Rampager … or Sticky Grenade (Gambit).
Level 7 effects are good for priming mooks … but not much else … takes too long, too many shots.
Level 60 effects are good for legendary critters … generally use lower level stuff for mooks.
Finally, level 100 effects quickly prime bosses … and anything else that has lost its shields.
So yes, Venom Darts are very, very useful for the majority of the critters. Prime, detonate, rinse, repeat.
If you have a Rampager with at least 350 weap/melee damage (plus some component boosts and inscriptions), pretty much elite and below (once shields are removed) are one-hit kills with the resulting combo … on GM3 strongholds/cats.
Add the Sticky Grenade (Gambit) with 200% charges and 175% damage and the resulting combos will take down elite Valkyries, Scouts and Hunters (once shields are gone). Legendary variants take one or two more hits.
Ralner's Blaze to prime bosses and Sticky Grenades to detonate … gives Bristlebacks a sad in GM3 Legendary World Events … not a one-hit kill by any means, but a significant amount of damage.

Okay this is all super useful, the numbers help with perspective, and knowing that the different slots have different max values is great. I probably could have read this somewhere (or already read/heard it, but it went in one ear and out the other). Time to grind onward.

You don't need damage at all on the Rampager. Actually damage might be the most useless roll if you are not using it for a melee build (which sucks for the Ranger even with some crazy buffs). The combo damage has nothing to do with weapon damage. You need 955-960 gearscore for the max base value that determines the combo damage and then additional combo imp damage rolls (double on the support item if you can get one and rest on the universal components).

Ranger melee build is why I want melee damage on the rampager.
OK, without the snark …
I'm guessing either you read too quickly what I was saying or I didn't emphasize it enough … but combos are where it's at. For the most part, all the weapons my javelins carry prime … one for range, one for close in. All my gear either primes or detonates … with a mix of ranged and close in. I don't generally melee with the Storm, so I use the melee primer for its shield restoration. For the other three, I use a detonator for melee and I almost never intentionally melee without priming first.
I reread what I wrote with the Ranger and I did emphasize the importance of combos … it's the big game in town for Anthem … but like I also said, no single thing is enough … it's how all the stuff adds up. So … prime and detonate, rinse and repeat … but just as weapon damage (for my primers) can make a difference, so can boosted damage for my melee detonators.
I've tested it … a combo detonation with a low damage melee can fail to kill a mook in a GM3 stronghold … requiring a second attack to finish it off. For survivability, the second attack is not a good idea. You want a single attack to kill that mook (or multiples) and move on to the next. With higher melee damage, when combined with the damage of primer, the resulting combo is enough to kill both mooks and elites. For elites with shields, take down the shields first … then prime and detonate (in the Ranger's case, either with melee or the sticky grenade) … to finish them off.
Also, not a fan of Javelins that are OTPs (one trick ponies). I want my Javelin to be decent for both the close fight and the ranged fight. Not optimized for either, but more valuable over the long haul for my team. Storm is an exception … I really have not been able to create a Storm that is good at the close fight. I'm hoping once I get some gear with the right inscriptions, that I can build a Storm that is more useful in the boss fight and not just crowd control … but that is aspirational right now, still trying to get the gear pieces.
Side note for BioWare … given the importance of combos, why don't all the weapons either prime or detonate? Same for gear. Also, why not organize the gear (after you've modified all of them to either prime or detonate) so that branch [1] primes and branch [2] detonates? I could chalk it up to design incoherence … or if I was being cynical, I could think you intentionally populated weapons and gear with things that neither primer nor detonate (once you get to the masterwork level and higher) … that you are simply throwing trash into the manifest to make the useful stuff even harder to come by. I actually don't think that, I believe it was a bit of design incoherence … maybe the importance of combos was something that came after a lot of the weapons and gear were created.
In any case, maybe when they roll out the big changes … it will include some of that … we shall see.

Today I played around 7 quick games in a row with mostly different PUGs. It seems at 935 one is quite overpower on GM2 especially with my 4x in a row Pondering Infinity *ZAKOOM!* - Blue Sky God has arrived Good games, people helped each other immediately and comboed enemies to dust.

I haven't really played ANTHEM in over a year (March break 2019 was when I stopped)....But lately I have gone back and listened to the OST. I'd forgotten how good it was. Especially the "Legion of Dawn" track. That is probably my favourite.

I have several videos of GM3 solo conjunctions online as well if you are interested. 2 with Interceptor, 1 with Ranger and 1 with Storm. In other news I finally got another chance last night to finish Temple Of Scar without anybody joining in via quickplay. Was a fun ride with my experimental Hybridoceptor. Video is currently being processed by Youtube and should be available soon. Edit: so here's the Hybridoceptor in action

Got lucky 2 nights in a row with being able to fully solo a stronghold without anybody joining. Well, someone did during the first attempt but the next game I could finish it without interruption. Aside from the fact I ran into a very unlucky death during the 2nd phase vs. The Monitor as he hit me midair right after my ultimate had finished and before it fired again after being refilled by Emergency Power some elementals finished me off and I had to do the fight again. It's also quite noticeable how much time it takes to do this with a hybrid Ranger build compared to my ultimate loadout. Nevertheless a fun game and boss battle.

Got lucky 2 nights in a row with being able to fully solo a stronghold without anybody joining. They really need to enable private playing on SH's and Legendary Missions (and while I'm at it, Freeplay, though that is less an issue as most just ignore each other). C'mon BW (though too late for me, I've moved on).

Managed to solo Tyrant Mine until about 2/3 of the platform section when people joined. Might still upload it. Luckily the next game nobody joined and I could finish The Sunken Cell with my Hybrid Ranger solo. That boss can really teleport some scary distance... Video will probably be live middle of next week, some others are queued up before this one... now if only I can get a full solo for Tyrant Mine as well instead of just 90%. Wanna see if I run into trouble with the boss somehow.

Finally managed to have a full solo of all 4 Strongholds without anybody interrupting... I really hope Bioware one day will finally let us just set these modes to private and I can remove 90% of the people on my ignore list again

Recommend doing the story solo at whatever difficulty level you are comfortable with. Tyrant mine and some tasks in free play must be done in public matches. They don't have big story elements, but they do allow the story to advance.
Once you complete heart of rage, the main story is mostly complete, but you have some additional side missions to do, plus some "regular" contracts, one each for Yarrow, Matti and Brin. Once you have completed those, legendary contracts will open up and you'll be getting close to level 30 (maybe level 26 if you are doing all the things in the story).
There are a bunch of challenges to complete … some were bugged in the beginning, but they may be fixed by now. Once you get to level 30, pretty much everything is open to you. Daily challenges reset each day, weekly challenges on Tue and Monthly challenges (I think) on the third Tue of the month.
When you do some of the "festive" or seasonal challenges, there are lots of things to do, best to learn how stuff is done from others … don't go busting through and dorking up various bonus items that folks are trying to complete.
Once you get to MW weapons and gear, you'll have some primer and detonator "stuff" … make sure you have both … weapons do some damage, but combos are where it's at. Plus inscriptions that boost weapon damage, combo damage. Frankly, if it doesn't prime or detonate, I don't bother with it.
Each javelin has some must have components at the MW and legendary levels … they will help you survive at the higher mission difficulties.
The four javelins have four distinct characteristics … so it's quite likely you will find one that suits your playstyle better than others. If you like to play significantly different play styles … you'll find those four quite a bit of fun. Lots of folks seem to prefer one over the others.
Fire and ice don't play so well together, so don't sabotage your teammates with gear or weapons that negate what they are using … and vice versa. Acid, lightening and fire work well together. Acid, lightening and ice work well together. Acid and fire work well on armor. Lightening works well on shields and ice also works somewhat on shields.
GM3 missions can drop level 80 loot. Below GM3, the max loot drop is 75. Also, levels below GM3 have cooties.
Minor crystals can be spent at Hershel's … "new" gear, weapons, melee and support gear are available on a rotating basis. The "new" weapons and gear don't drop in missions and don't drop in tombs when redeeming a token (support gear and melee weapons will drop). The regulator store has a rotating group of items for sale … it can be either the original "stuff" or the new stuff and you use "coin" to make the purchases. Prospero sells vanity items for coin … I don't bother, I only spend coin at the regulator store.
Good luck and welcome.

First, get used to running/flying around with the shield up (lower the shield when not under attack to allow it to regenerate, then put it back up once regenerated).
Second, don't bother with autocannons or grenade launchers (one grenade launcher is good, but only takes on its significance once you get to MW level).
Weapons: The scout marksman rifle is good early in the game (becomes the "Thunderbolt of Yvenia" at the MW level). Anvil marksman rifle is good against armor (becomes soothing touch at MW level). Both of these are accurate and useful against ranged targets. Later, at the MW and lego levels, you will want different weapons.
Melee weapon: seismic glove (becomes earth shaker at MW level).
Gear: Venom spitter (assault launcher, becomes solvent green at MW level) … primer, acid, weakens armor and targets take more damage (physical damage). Lightening coil (ordnance launcher) … detonator, weakens shields (elemental damage). Short-medium ranged gear, use your weapons for ranged attacks (that can change later). Once it is available at lego level, I switch ordnance launcher to Venom Storm. It gives me ranged attacks and crowd control.
Support gear: shield pulse (becomes surging shield at MW level) for short-term damage resistance.
Components: Heavy Shield Reinforcement (Colossus component) Overclocked Regulator (Colossus component) Structural Reinforcement (Colossus component) Colossus Combo Augment (Colossus component) Armor Reinforcement (universal component) Shield Reinforcement (universal component)
These will change later, especially as you get MW and Legendary "stuff" that have valuable secondary characteristics as well as inscriptions that are very important. A lot of inscriptions will be filler and at lower levels, the inscriptions … even the good ones … will have limited values. But these are decent starting points for your Colossus … to allow you to get you through the story as you learn to play your "thiccboi" javelin.
