I'm an almost 55 yo female. So, I'm in the same boat as y'all. The only difference is my husband does not game and I have no children to play with. That being said, the party generator works quite well. You get thrown out there with a bunch of strangers that do not require any social interaction. In some ways it's better than being partied with a bunch of NPC's. Real people are better at taking down bosses than NPC's ever will be. I've only had one whole party wipe. All of us were surprised by a sudden boss appearance. With other party matches, there is always someone you can resurrect or who will resurrect you when you go down. So far no real awful people (knock on wood). Plus, you only get auto partied when doing quests. Free play is all you soloing the mobs. All the other members of my family greatly enjoy this style of game, so I 'm aware it's a fun time for lots of people. But personally, I’m not interested in sharing my gameplay experience with anyone else. Almost every minute of most days, I am in some way, shape, or form, collaborating with other people. It’s wonderful and exhilarating, but also quite draining. My precious moments of free time are essential, and I especially value my solitary gaming time. It allows me to go somewhere else and be someone else without ever once having to think about the needs or concerns of others. It's the only time I get to be completely self-serving -- no repercussions, no guilt. Honestly, it’s cathartic. So, it's truly not my worry over the attitudes of the other people that keeps me away from games like Anthem -- I'm pretty sure I could hold my own. It's more basic than that. I am simply incapable of immersing myself in the world of the game when I know other people are there. And without being able to enjoy it in that way, there is no point in my playing at all.

Interesting! There are NPC Javelin's in the world? Downed sentinels. Seems like it might be hard to find them though. Like you need one of those events to pop up in freeplay. I started a mission yesterday in easy mode, just to see the difference. Ended up the "matchmaking" put me solo.. guessing there aren't many wanting to do the leisurely easy mode.. anyway, it was a mission for Brinn.. and seriously, I spent 90% of the time repairing the Sentinels there that were "helping". /facepalm After about 15 minutes of getting 1-2 kills in between my 20 or so (really not kidding at that number) repairs, I gave up and ended the mission. So, although not Freeplay, it's still possible to get the Repair challenge done.
