TL;DR, this is not a bug thread -- bugs are unintended mistakes in the game. This is a thread to track and discuss the most commonly cited things about the game that were intended but executed poorly, much needed quality of life improvements, or bad design decisions that should be changed. For the most part, I'm trying to limit this to more-or-less objective issues. Things that are much more subjective, like story content is boring, NPC dialogue is too annoying, or missions are too repetitive, I'm omitting explicitly. I'm also omitting old chestnuts, like no text chat and no PvP. These are based on comments here in BSN and in Reddit's r/ATG sub. DISCLAIMER: I personally have not played the game yet, so everything I'm reporting is without personal confirmation. It's possible that some of these are not seen by all people, or are an incomplete understanding of what is actually happening. Or it could in fact just be a bug. In no particular order: LOADING SCREENS - Entered: 2/18 Too many of them and they take too long. Nuff said. NO WAY TO VOLUNTARILY REPLAY STORY MISSIONS WITH THE SAME PILOT - Entered: 2/18 The only ways to replay story missions are if you are invited to do so by someone who hasn't played it yet, if you accidentally get sucked into one you've done via Quick Play, or if you create a whole new pilot and start the game over. EXPEDITION-DEPENDENT LOOT INVENTORY LIMIT - Entered: 2/18 Why is this even a thing in a looter shooter? The size appears to vary from 8 to a lot more than 8 (I've seen 60 and 200 reported, but people might be confusing slots the expedition limit). Screenshot of warning message: NEED CUSTOM WAYPOINTS - Entered 2/18 Visible to squad, optionally only visible to the player. ELDER GAME IN GENERAL - Entered 3/2 Overall, elder game content/loot chase needs improvement of some kind to make it more engaging. While this is more subjective than any other item on this list, and also more broad and vague than any other item on this list, there is broad-based consensus that the elder game loot chase needs improvement. What exact improvements are most critical is a bit more fuzzy, but based on volume of discussion, they include (in no particular order): - Frequency of Masterwork and Legendary drops (leans towards being stingy instead of generous)
- Quality of drops
- Not enough variety of Masterwork and Legendary weapons, pool too small
- Not enough variety of elder game content: Strongholds, enemy types/variations, Contracts too samey, etc.
- God-build pursuit too hopeless: not enough stats info available/displayed, inventory and salvage clunkiness, no rerolls, etc.
If the loot chase is a cycle of {1} aspire to a level of power, or a build, or a particular piece of god-gear, then {2} grind through the content to get what you need to achieve that aspiration, then {3} use the build/crafting/inventory system to achieve the goal, then rinse and repeat, ideally the only element of that cycle that should take up a significant amount of time and effort is {2}. But many people believe that Anthem is both too shallow and too narrow in content for {2} to have longevity as it currently stands, and worse, the effort that is being spent isn't giving rewards commensurate to the effort. Many more people believe there are issues with {1} (e.g., not enough stats info) and {3} (e.g., inventory clunky) that cause those to take more time and effort than necessary. So in terms of improvement, {1} and {3} need to be more streamlined, in one way or another, and {2} needs to be filled out. ON DECKThere are items that are brewing, but there hasn't been enough time or commentary for these to make the top 5. - For story missions, don't start squad intro dialogue when the first person loads in, do it when the last person loads in. Slow loaders totally miss the dialogue.
- Streamline Fort Tarsis even more: faster sprint, maybe fast travel to key merchants
CONFIRMED AS A BUGDENIED LOOT SHARE IF DOWNED WHEN ENEMY/BOSS IS DEFEATED - Entered: 2/18 Regardless of how much you contributed to the defeat of a boss or major enemy, if you happen to be down in need of repair at the time the enemy is defeated, you miss out on the loot distribution. PARTIALLY RESOLVEDTETHERING/MISSION BOUNDARY TOO AGGRESSIVE - Entered: 2/18 (3/1 Patch extended the time interval) The timer is way too short and the distance is way too close. Plus, getting teleported puts you into another loading screen. Not only is this subject to intentional abuse, even unintentional eagerness can yank another player away from a collectible or location they wanted to take note of to return later.

The fact you still walk in FT. They were supposed to have added a sprint, it's more like a tiny tiny bit faster walk. Every time I go back to FT after a mission I have to walk corner to corner to talk to everyone, doesn't help that there's literally 0 atmosphere in FT, same music from the same radio every time I walk from the forge. The NPC conversations are so dumb and pointless and the animations are terrible. It's fun the first half a dozen times but think about how many times as a destiny player you've had to go to the tower once you hit end game. Now imagine having to do this day in day out in FT. No thanx. needs fixing asap.

DENIED LOOT SHARE IF DOWNED WHEN ENEMY/BOSS IS DEFEATED This has confirmed to be a bug by Bioware. No idea when the fix is incoming though. EXPEDITION-DEPENDENT LOOT INVENTORY LIMIT I have not experienced this personally. At least I've never gotten any kind of notification saying I couldn't carry any more loot. I've managed to carry at least 3 dozen pieces of loot in a single session of Freeplay. For normal, non-stronghold missions this really shouldn't be a problem since there's a finite number of enemies you can kill anyway, and thus a limit on how much loot you can practically get. Not enough variety of Masterworks, pool too small There is at least one masterwork version of every single piece of gear/weapon in the game (I think some gear have two...anyone that's level 30 can see all the masterworks by going into challenge tab and looking at the masterwork challenges). The drop rate is low enough that on GM1 it takes grinding multiple runs of missions/strongholds before you can expect to get one drop. I think the pool is fine right now. Remember that even if you get a drop, you may still want to grind for repeats to get better inscription rolls. For story missions, don't start squad intro dialogue when the first person loads in, do it when the last person loads in. Slow loaders totally miss the dialogue. Totally agree.

I think they need to scrap fort tarsis, or give the player a way to not have to go there. This game fanbase are looter shooter fans, they need to give them more looting and shooting. Talking to people in the fort shouldn't be required, because I've heard a lot of people say it just pulls you out of the action. They should have took more notes from destiny, everything is fast paced and easy to start. No need to go through multiple menus. They need more shooting content and less slow story content ASAP.

Wanted to add something:
Right now weapon inscriptions can roll bonuses for more than one "off-weapon". For example, a single AR can have an inscription for a shotgun bonus and another inscription for a marksman rifle bonus. It might be possible to even have 3 off-weapon inscriptions, but I haven't seen it yet. When this happens, it means one inscription is functionally worthless at any given point in time since you can only equip 2 weapons.
Personally, I'm kind of iffy on off-weapon inscriptions in general (but acknowledge they can be useful for certain builds so am willing to accept them), but having two mutually exclusive inscriptions reeks of design fail to me.

I have not played yet, so take this with a grain of salt:
1. Reading through the Twitterverse, it seems they have removed the ability to use the Striders as forward operation centers in favor of the "Social Hub". I feel like this is a huge mistake. It would be great to be able to stop at a Strider, dump your current "loot", and change out weapons/gear. They could have it a stripped-down version of the Forge (no cosmetic changes, maybe only a menu instead of the animation of your Javelin there).
It would also be nice to be able to switch out to a new Javelin while in Freeplay without having to go back to Tarsis or the social hub. This way if your squad feels like they need a Colossus or something, you can switch out quickly without having to go back to Tarsis and do the whole re-invite thing.
2. This is based purely on the Demo for PS4 (as the game has not officially launched on PS4 yet) so if "not allowed" let me know. The way to accept an invite into a "squad" is super awful. You have to (from my experience) go out to the PS4 home screen to accept an invite? That's really poor design. I don't know if it is Sony's or Bioware's, but there should be easier ways to drop into a friend's instance or set up a new one quickly. It just seems like too much of a hassle (again, from the demo). Maybe it will get easier the more I play, or maybe it's changed some to the launch version.

I would like the opportuity to replay story with a different Freelancer more than replaying missions with the same. But I'm down for either. Anyway, isn't that what quickplay is for? Fast travel points in freeplay. I may have missed it but all I could find was a respawn function that sent you back to the strider you spawned in at not a different. Custom waypoint. Duh...BioWare ffs. More landmarks on the mission map. When doing the tombs I couldn't see which strider was closest to the tomb I was going for. Tombs was only shown on the map when loaded int freeplay. EXPEDITION-DEPENDENT LOOT INVENTORY LIMIT I have had a shitton (undisclosed number but waaaaaaaaaay more than 20) of loot at expedition ending and not getting some kind of pockets are full message. Quite possibly a bug?

Yes, I saw this too and it's completely insane. It's terrible design to begin with to allow your second weapon to serve as a stat stick for the first, and even if it weren't, if you roll two of these ones third weapon type, at least one of the inscriptions is guaranteed to be useless. The whole inscription system they have in place is asinine and ignores the lessons learned from other games over the past decade or two (harvest bonus, really?). People are missing it because of the core functionality issues currently plaguing the game. Unfortunately, when if/when those are dealt with, we still have issues that have caused playerbases in other games to revolt.

And I don't buy their bullshit about removing the pilot skill tree either. So glad I haven't wasted my money on this train wreak of a game.

I have not played yet, so take this with a grain of salt: 1. First I’ve heard of either, will be on the lookout.

From my own observations, Striders should act as mini forge platforms. You can't customize the look of your Javelin, but you can swap out gear.

This is really turning into a clusterfuck of a game launch. The whole point of having the Strider was to do what you describe and they've gone and removed it? WTF Bioware? And I don't buy their bullshit about removing the pilot skill tree either. So glad I haven't wasted my money on this train wreak of a game. The skill tree was legit bad, and if was in the game as it was back then, it would have simply been another slight against the game.

The Legion quest after you complete the story mentions Pilot Mastery levels.

So a few issues that I've seen are as follows just to comment on this: The jump from epic to masterwork is far too steep. If you look at the gear stats its a huge jump in statistics like 3-5x as much in some cases, it's actually rather insane, they need to update the last 3 tiers of gear (once you reach level 30) into sub-tier sets beyond what they are now, so epic 1, 2, 3 and masterwork 1, 2, 3 and legendary 1, 2, 3 and beyond with expansions. This should help players feel more rewarded when they get the end game, and they aren't worried as much for wasting their time earning white, green, and blues. The second issue(s) I have are sort of related, 1) some enemies need more or better tells, and 2) 1% forever isn't fun, living in a perpetual state of being 2 shot isn't fun, especially since most enemies have faster cooldowns, than you have mechanisms to defend against those conditions, having your barriers being destroyed within a second seems meaningless if not a bandaid on a bad situation. Next thing would be slightly more dynamic puzzles, once you know what runes work in what situation they will always be the same, and it would be nice if they could have slightly more randomization, say 2-3 different spawn locations for indications, and the color codes you need to enter may vary each play through. (I may regret saying this one, and appreciate it less if implemented) We need a ping system for Freeplay. Strong along, stronger together, and all that jazz. Agree with this wholeheartedly, hope someday it's as incredible as Apex's one of the best I've ever seen in a game. Additionally, many things PapaCharlie9 posted were in my initial concerns, glad we have a good location to voice these issues. Honestly, this game is very enjoyable, but there definitely needs to be some redesign of loot and logic and damaging mechanics.

Can you imagine a map featuring 20 or so players, then one player pings a world event or a Titan attack, and next thing we know there are 20 javelins converging on his location and raining all kinds of hell on the enemies?

Can you imagine a map featuring 20 or so players, then one player pings a world event or a Titan attack, and next thing we know there are 20 javelins converging on his location and raining all kinds of hell on the enemies? Truthfully I hope that raids are an incredibly complex thing (if or when they ever implement them) say 2-4 teams of Javelins fly in and they have to all do their different tasks throughout the 'raid' and then they all finally converge into the giant final boss encounter room (after beating their own separate encounters throughout and joining together from time to time. Destiny had a good start in complexity, but there is so much more you can do with additional teams like the colossus can kite enemies away with its battle cries so they main boss damage isn't amplified, or all the teams need to defeat 1 boss encounter simultaneously otherwise the ones that are left will be too powerful to defeat. I want something that can hopefully take coordinate teams months to defeat the first time and when they finally do it'll be an epic thing to celebrate in the whole world of Anthem. Even have Yarrow will chronical the names of the first freelancers to beat the raid on the walls of Tarsis. That may all be a little too hopeful though XD
