Does anthem show improvements to the same engine that dai/da4 is on. Is the lighting better, shading water effects etc 100 times better ? How about monster ai?
I understand they are very different styles of games but as a dragon age fan is there things to be excited for based on anthem

The water shading is exactly 88.3 times better. I calculated it myself.

There are plenty of YouTube videos, op, watch them and judge for yourself. Although, if you get motion sickness in 1st person cutscenes you might want to look away when they start, but there is plenty of footage of the environments in third person for you to judge whether there are improvements. Spoiler alert...the environments in Anthem are beautiful!

I think it's shown they've come a long way from DA:I an ME:A, for me personally though compared to the actual world FB3 can deliver, which is truly impressive, the NPC are not as impressive an i believe thats no BioWare but just basically the engine being built for fps.
The verticality interests me in the sense can they take that an bring it to DA map design but go down to incorporate extensive deep roads an exploration aswell as surface area
All in all visually Anthem has added confidence in my thoughts for DA4

It would really go a long way to make exploration fun and engaging.

For me YouTube can sometimes be deceiving especially with this fast paced type of game. Im looking for
Anthem added x graphic type such as ambient occlusion etc which wasn’t in andromeda or dai or wow they added this to anthem monster x which if added to darkspawn will improve immersion and combat

Sort of. It has a somewhat dynamic world with a day-night cycle and changing weather. It also slightly improves the facial animation and collision of NPCs. Melee is still awkward. And the city still feels lifeless because most of the NPCs just stand still.

What has been proven time and time again is the FB engine is not RPG friendly. EA is hurting the franchises like ME and DA by requiring that Bioware uses it. That isn't the only reason, but it certainly is one of them.

Scrap FB3, use UE4 or any other state of the art engine. Else the game will suffer heavily.

Any monsters, environments etc that were reskinned or placed into dai would have made dai an even better game
