Andromeda, as lackluster as it was, at least felt like a complete game. Anthem feels like a glorified tech demo that was slapped together in the past six months.

I hate to say so, because I very much liked Andromeda overall, and Anthem being a multiplayer game was not something I was interested in. MEA had more of everything I like, but so far I'm having more fun with Anthem than I did with Andromeda at launch. It's not exactly a fair comparison, but as far as Andromeda goes, I enjoyed everything having to do with the single player main content, characters, etc..but when it came to the open world exploration and side quests/fetch quests, in between, I would often hit a wall and it was a struggle to get through at times. I did not find the exploration aspect on the planets in MEA very interesting, personally, and there were moments where I had to put the game down for a while, because it felt like a chore. DAI had this issue as well, where I felt like the open world and fetch quests pulled me out of the story...but in DAI, the exploration aspect was very lore heavy. But in MEA, in my opinion, suffered from trying to be too many things at once, a single player rpg with deep story and characters, an open world exploration game, a multiplayer game, etc. Anthem isn't a deep single player rpg, which I prefer, but so far it's a lot of fun.

You can't really compare the games as one is an single player RPG, while the other is a Looter Shooter. Having said that in terms of what each game is supposed to be, Andromeda does what it says on the tin despite having flaws. Meanwhile Anthem doesn't even come close to being a decent Looter shooter, the 6 years of development went into what exactly?

Anthem has a lot of flaws and could be a much better game purely from a loot shooter point of view if they had skipped all the stupid story stuff and actually focussed on what makes games like Warframe or even Diablo work. That being said, I have played a lot of Anthem since the 15th. I totally love the core gameplay for what it is as well as for what it could be and am more hopeful regarding future updates than I was with MEA.
MEA on the other hand is such a piece of shit I even had it removed from my Origin account by EA support. The multiplayer was just so much worse than it was in ME3 in which I spent so many time over the years. And the singleplayer was totally boring that I could hardly play it and eventually ended up with the thought of "wtf am I doing wasting my time on this game, it's totally not enjoyable in any way".
I think they should have focussed on making ONE game - that features the gameplay and setting of Anthem within the universe of Mass Effect 1-3.

I started playing Anthem on Friday evening and (minus two 7 hour sleeps) played continuously thru to Sunday evening.
I am really enjoying it so far, have been mainly doing the story and side quests, and am not yet thru the campaign.
The combat is far less buggy than Andromeda, and the visuals are a feast for the eyes.
I am very impressed with Anthem so far, I think Bioware has done an excellent job of combining some of the best aspects of the Destiny series, as well as some of my most beloved aspects of ME3MP (which I sunk over 2000hrs into)
For anyone who liked ME3MP, I don't see how they could vote MEAMP over Anthem.

As I've said, Andromeda contains the core that BioWare fans are used to while Anthem jettisoned it. I'm enjoying Anthem, mostly, but I think even Andromeda's combat was superior. I really liked the adaptive cover system and combat in MEA. Even Destiny, which I'm not a huge fan of, has a wider variety of guns at least. I'm sure Anthem will get more content and be better. Hopefully they'll offer third person in fort Tarsis because the first person view is not good, along with many other things. There will be more missions and such. Of course maybe it's just enough millions of people can sit around arguing about video games. Now I feel old.

Andromeda does not require a constant internet connection, that alone makes it superior.

Andromeda, as lackluster as it was, at least felt like a complete game. Anthem feels like a glorified tech demo that was slapped together in the past six months. What’s hilarious is that BioWare’s B-Team managed to produce a very flawed but workable product despite their development hell + team inexperience in three years while BioWare’s A-Team produced a vastly inferior product despite having six years to make it and with their best developers at the helm. That’s not even sad, that’s outrageous.

I tried Anthem for about 4 hours, and I found the controls a bit clunky. Didn't have that problem with Andromeda. Missions seemed boring. Couldn't really get into Anthem, like I could with Andromeda.
Good thing I didn't pay full price for the game. Only $5 for a trial.

Both games are very similar, some armor types look similar to what we've seen in Andromeda, many sound effects are exactly the same, many of the enemies look or attack in a very similar way etc.
There are moment's where Anthem feels like MEA's sequel.

I thought gameplay felt a bit similar too. Except for the flying, but I never hovered in Andromeda either.

I thought gameplay felt a bit similar too. Except for the flying, but I never hovered in Andromeda either. I never used the hover in Andromeda, but I use it quite a bit in Anthem, depending on the enemy type. I wouldn't use it when there are SCAR scouts or Dominion Rocket troopers around, but I use it all the time against scorpions, beasts, titans, or if there are a few infantry to mow over. And using actual flight to close in quickly on a sniper (or to "nope" away from a group of enemies) can be quite useful.

Outside of cutscenes&movement, can't think of a single thing Anthem does better. Andromeda, was a very good/better game on the second run, when you ignore unnecessary padding. Despite the game being a huge wasted opportunity. Anthem barely even tried to do anything with the world/setting. Scar, Dominion...the best name you can come pick with? How about.." The Evil Collective of Generic Bad Dudes"? Even those rockheads had more personality ( they looked sort of funny/confused everytime you shoot them). Hell, even itemization is somehow miles ahead.

10 days ago I said I would come back after I've put some reasonable amount of time into Anthem, and now I feel that I have done so.
58 hours in as per Origin. I believe the campaign itself took me about 25 or so hours, the rest is endgame. I have a 490 Ranger, a 479 Colossus and a 466 Storm. I haven't really played the Interceptor much (though it was my go-to character on the Demo). Grandmaster I with randoms feels pretty easy and casual. I haven't played the other two higher difficulties yet because, well, there is no point progression-wise in playing them. And I gotta say that after 58 hours in, I feel very tired of Anthem already. Lately I just play the 3 Daily Legendary Contracts for some quick Masterwork loot and that is it. I did run Strongholds everyday for a while, during the few days I opened the game and told myself "today I will put 5 hours in!" and eventually came to a wall, realizing there is nothing else to do in the game after the Daily Legendary Contracts but, you guessed, Strongholds.
Strongholds are highly repetitive though, each run is the same experience, over and over, and unfortunately Anthem at its current state relies on Strongholds way too much. The idea of giving you one activity to repeat a hundred times and hopefully still keep going might have worked out on a 2012 Hack-and-Slash Looter like Diablo 3, but for a 2019 Looter Shooter, it is not enough to keep me interested. And I do fear this linear, repetition-heavy design is what Anthem will follow on subsequent added content. All in all, I can't see myself investing many more hours into Anthem, unless the endgame improves drastically (something which is not set to happen anytime soon).
Now switching to Andromeda, I am pretty sure the average Andromeda's Singleplayer campaign is much longer than 58 hours. Mine, which was more of a completionist run on the highest difficult (Insanity I think it is called) with lots of time invested into crafting and exploration took me over 100 hours. And those 100 hours kept me entertained, engaged, thinking about the game and eager to return to it way after a day at work. The story was not the best, not at all, but the whole package kept me going in a way that Anthem in comparison feels more like a chore.
Can Anthem still be better than Andromeda? Perhaps. "Anthem is not done, yet", they always say. But as far as Vanilla Anthem vs Andromeda (a game that never got any extra content, apart from the Multiplayer side of it), Andromeda is a significantly superior game to me. Not just "a better game", or a "somewhat better game", like I have said on this and other threads. Andromeda (which is still a flawed game) is at least a few leagues ahead. Compared to Anthem, I believe Andromeda has a better combat (that is correct, and if you disagree, you probably haven't played the multiplayer much); better powers and combos; better feeling, diverse and more unique guns; better enemy design; better soundtrack; better voice acting; better NPCs; better crafting system; better UI; and, without a doubt, a better story (albeit below Bioware standards). Ah, inferior graphics, right? True, but Andromeda has got better hardware optimization (a category in which Anthem is just abysmal).
Ultimately I believe that we, the players (or at least most of us), as well as EA, had never truly stopped to contemplate Bioware B team achievements. Despite the massive undertaking, the pressure and, let's be honest, the fan hostility they faced (mine included), they gave us a good game. Not good enough to satisfy our expectations back in 2017, but quite good nonetheless. After diving into Anthem and seeing what the A-team was able to create, I can only say that the B-team, despite its shortcomings, did manage to keep the best of Bioware sci-fi alive in comparison.
My personal scores for these games:
Andromeda 7/10 Anthem 4/10

After giving Anthem quite a go there for a while, I just started a new Andromeda playthrough and I got to say, as critical as I was (and still am) about some of the story aspects of the game, I think Andromeda is still feels like it's got way more depth to it. Of course, they are completely different games with completely different goals for the player experience but if I had to choose between one or the other. it'd easily be Andromeda. Not necessarily because I think Anthem is a bad game as such, but the SP focused RPG experience still is my go-to game. That said, the old trilogy as both of them beat by a long shot.

I really like Andromeda, especially after installing a few quality of life mods. It's definitely a flawed game, and I don't think open world is a good fit for Mass Effect, but I enjoyed it and completed multiple playthroughs.
Anthem could do with more variety. All missions look and play the same, and I've reached a point where the game starts to feel like work. I would argue that MEA's (and ME3's) multiplayer mode alone is better than Anthem. More level variety, better loot, better combat.
