Thus far I've really only played the "tutorial missions', the first two before first heading back to the Fort.....Play time is probably about an hour, maybe an hour and a quarter....But from everything I've seen- the graphics, the gameplay, the characters, story, combat, locomotion (flight, swimming etc..... Swimming is SO MUCH EASIER than the Demos!)....I'm lovin' it already. I was literally thrown into the very first intro mission, and something about it- I was hooked right away. I really do think I am going to love this game the more I play it

I was an hour into No Man’s Sky on release and was enjoying it immensely. 2 days later I set fire to the disc and launched it into my neighbours garden when they weren’t in.
You might want to give it a bit longer pal before you go tubthumping to the rest of the desperados.

Yes, while I can say from past experience there has been one game (BIOSHOCK) that at first I was amazed by and then I quickly grew to hate it (I was immediately blown away by the graphics and the story although creepifying was intriguing. I played it for 3 days...then got to a point where I was up against a Big Daddy with no health and no ammo for any of my weapons, backed into a corner with no means of escape. I got so frustrated with it that I uninstalled it from my PC and the next day sold it to a store called Microplay Videogames.) That remains the only game in my history of experience that I have had such a drastic change of opinion.
There was one other game that while I really enjoyed the game as I was playing it, I felt the ending came far too abruptly in the story for no reason, and the gameplay (in terms of hours played) was only 4 before it was GAME OVER, and there was absolutely zero replay value. The game I am speaking of was COD III: Black Ops. And Ricky, as for your mention of No Man's Sky....that is your personal experience with that title. For me, that title holds no value or interest whatsoever so it's a non issue.
And as Terminator did point out, I did state that my OP was merely a 'first impression' and though logically there is possibility that it might change with time....I don't think it will. For me, Bioware games have a solid track record, and for any reason (even those I cannot readily put my finger on....there's a feeling I get when I look to the west) I am drawn into a game, there's something about it that I like and enjoy-- that feeling almost never changes. Mass Effect is a perfect example. Before I bought the first title on PC for 20.00 dollars off the shelf...I had heard rumblings and rumours that it was a great game but I'd decided to check it out for myself. I installed it, loaded it up...and was immediately captivated. Even now after hundreds of hours through the whole trilogy-- even though I could probably play it with my eyes closed and there is 'nothing new'....I still remain in a sense of awe about everything that game has to offer. If I were to make a list of my all-time favourite games, the ME OT would be #1.
There is something magical, mysterious and fresh for me about ANTHEM...and I plan on enjoying the experience of discovering what that something is.

You are shining proof that there is no conspiracy going on. You like the game on your own merits and reviews didn't stop you from playing or enjoying the game. I'm glad you're having fun! This. It was the same for me with Mass Effect Andromeda and Fallout 76. There were so many negatives opinions on both those games at release. Sure they had their bugs, as does Anthem, but I still enjoyed them, and am loving Anthem too. I'm just hoping that Anthem doesn't end up like Andromeda where there were plans for more content but due to all the negativity the devs changed their mind. And please dont bash me or this post simply for stating my opinion.

For me, though it didn't have the same emotional weight or connection as the OT, I still really enjoyed the game for everything it was as well as whatever it wasn't....and I was disappointed when they deciced to can the plans due to backlash.

I'm just hoping that Anthem doesn't end up like Andromeda I totally agree with you ( and with EnergizerBunny211 ). I liked Andromeda actually. This game is very close to my heart despite all bugs and sometimes dialogue/story problems. Imo Andromeda has very interesting plot and lore. And so Anthem. My first impressions were exactly the same as EnergizerBunny211 had and later on, despite it's problems and some issues, game still keeps me playing and searching for another bits of infomration for the cortex. Good game overall. Not very good, but still solid:)

Yep. Having a blast with it. No problems on ps4 pro for me, at least nothing any different from any other online game I've played at launch. Controls take alittle getting use too at first. Most of my original Destiny 1 crew have come out of retirement and playing it also and overall everyone is really liking it.
Swear it feels like they may have initially planned on putting romance options into the game. So feels like a ME game with some of the dialogue choices I've seen.

I'm glad you're enjoying it I'm one of those that tried it, and wan't terribly fond of it. It was ok, but not something I'm going to spend my time or money on. The reviews seem overblown, but tha's par for the course, trying to stir up drama. Doesn't mean the problems arent there, just that they are subjective as to whether they prevent you from enjoying the game.

I'm a few hours in, and I'm also enjoying it so far! Which is surprising to me because I don't really like shooters or multiplayer games much. But I thought I'd give it a shot, since it was a Bioware title and I was curious to see if they could make this genre fun for me.
I went in completely blind from reviews (and having not played the demo), and well, first impressions it has some obvious technical flaws that will hopefully be fixed very soon--bugs, issues getting disconnected from the server, etc. I'll say upfront I don't like the microtransactions/shards...and the general mobile gaming creep happening in the industry today. I'm disappointed to see it here. But this is a whole issue in of itself and enough has been said elsewhere.
I enjoy the Fort Tarsis area. I get the impression this is closer to what they were going for with Skyhold in Inquisition, so some major improvements there. For example I appreciate the zoomed in camera when you speak to characters. That was a minor thing that frustrated me a whole lot back in DAI. The voice acting and characters are all likeable so far. I know this isn't an RPG so I wasn't expecting much, but I still enjoy the RPG elements they incorporated. Bioware has always done hub areas well, so I'm interested to see what they do with this area as they add new content.
Gameplay is fun, the combat feels very similar to MEA. So far the missions aren't too long and grindy, and matchmaking with strangers has not been as aggravating as I thought. This is the kind of game you could spend 20 or 30 mins on at a time, and put down, without a major time involvement..it's nice to have games like that once in a while.
Story is pretty standard for Bioware so far--lots of familiar tropes we all know and love. Ancient civilization that left mysterious relics and technology behind, check. Lore surrounding a strong female hero/prophet like figure who fought a war, check. A mysterious ancient force that gives characters magical abilities, and that the bad guys all want to control, check. I'm only a few hours in so I can't comment much on the story yet.
Graphics are nice and the world is very lush, with bright colors and interesting monsters. I'm getting a bit tired of open world games, wandering around through wilderness and jungles. But the flying is a nice touch, making it fresh and helping to keep it from feeling like a slow slog. One of the things that frustrated me a lot in MEA was all the aimless driving around we had to do....it took forever to get from point A to point B, but Anthem actually feels less grindy since you travel between checkpoints very quickly.

My boyfriend bought the game for me as a gift. I really didn't think I'd enjoy it too much since it looked like Andromeda MP and I've had a rough time with it. I love it, though. I even played hookie from work yesterday just to play it! It's so much fun, I enjoy it immensely.

Although the game is getting mostly negative reviews, it seems lots of people are enjoying the game. I guess that counts for something!!!
Personally I never planned to play Anthem, as I don't like MP and I don't like FPS, but considering that it is Bioware (yeah I am a Bioware fan) I thought maybe I should at least consider trying SP
Soo has anyone tried SP and if so how is it... and for fans of this genre - how does it compare to other similar games

Its illegal to say you like the game in these parts! just kidding glad you’re liking it! Give it time I played both demo's and am about 5-6 hours into the game. I'm also loving it. The best part for me is the powers the Javelin's have, especially those of Storm. During the demo I had a ton of fun with each of the Javelin's but settled on Storm because I like to play back a bit and not get right up in the AI's face. I've seen a lot of people jumping on the hate train because the popular YouTube and Twitch folks reported they hated it. They hated the PC version prior to the patch, which in my view would warrant an updated review. I don't listen to their opinions except to get an early look at game play if I hadn't pre-ordered whatever they're reviewing. What version and how much time did you put into the "release" version of the game?
