There are two things that really stands out about Anthem that should be reason enough for most people to check out the game eventually. Even if you only like single player games and not a big online person, still recommend eventually picking up the game with a friend for this experience.
1. BioWare has created one of the most beautiful open worlds ever. The Bastion (open world area; obviously there will be more if you know the story and lore) is so insanely detail and just a wonder to fly around, fight, discover ruins and caves, and pick up random artifacts, notes, etc. It’s is bioware’s best work in terms aesthetics.
2. BioWare has truly made each class feel unique. Something that I never quite felt playing all three classes in Destiny. Playing as the colossus actually feels like a tank that can stand toe to toe with an Ursix. The storm truly feels like a powerful mage who deals damage from afar but can also strike down out of nowhere with a powerful magic melee. The interceptor is so insanely quick, agile, and deadly (with the classic mass effect charge!). And the Ranger feels like a standard soldier with a good mid range combat options.
That being said, I hope they continue to expand upon the open world to continue building on the depth of content and systemic events.
I hope they also continue to make each class feel more unique with new abilities, ultimates, and melees

I also like the feel of combat and flying. Especially flying.
Another thing I'm enjoying (that I was somewhat worried about to begin with) are the character interactions and dialogue choices. Talking to the NPCs about non-quest-related things like Tessie the Tesilar, proper electrical cord storage, and whether or not to open a new shop is reminding me of shooting the breeze with random NPCs like Eddie Lang in Mass Effect. The female Freelancer's voice is really fitting the happy-go-lucky left side options. Also, the facial animations for the crew are excellent for the most part. There was a scene in which I could really see the emotions passing across Faye and Owen's faces.
This game has some good strengths to build on. Hopefully it will be given the time and resources needed to fix the things that aren't working as smoothly.

I hope they also continue to make each class feel more unique with new abilities, ultimates, and melees Agreed. Those are among the best aspects of Anthem.
The only thing the world is lacking a little is interactive stuff. Would be cool if we could also find say and NPC with a quest or something but I guess that's a concession to the coop gameplay or something (not a necessary one IMO but still).
But one of the absolute best things about this open world IMO is that we are allowed to really explore it ourselves. Yes, the map is alcking functionality like waypoints but it has the great advantage of not having 2000 question marks. Finally we get to really find things ourselves again, be it notes, landmarks, dungeons, chests or just cool places. I love to just fly around and stumble on things without having a frigging minimap or compass jammed full of symbols. Very well done BioWare! Way baetter than in Inquisition and Andromeda. Keep that for the next Dragon Age/Mass Effect game please!
3. The soundtrack’s really good. Yea, IMO, it doesn't quite hild a candle to Mas Effect 3 (granted, that one had just about the best OST ever, so tough bar) but I really like the main theme, it feels very fresh and that slightly "warped" feel of it captures the setting very well.

I still don't get the praise for the world design. One of the most disappointing aspects of the demo to me. Maybe exploring the full map would change my mind.
But to me the world is way too same-y. Everything looks the same. Nor do I see anything noteworthy in the art style. Very artificial look to the topography too. Maybe that's intended.
DAI had gorgeous maps. I loved just walking around all this beauty. I was bored with Anthem's jungle after 10 minutes.
I can't relate to the awe-struck sentiment at all.
Anthem nails nothing for me, sadly. Flying is smooth but the novelty of it wore off after half an hour.
I wish I had the enthusiasm of you, guys!

Flying is smooth but the novelty of it wore off after half an hour. I wish I had the enthusiasm of you, guys! I had the same impression after the Demo but IMO, the full game does at least give a little more diversity. I mean, it's still a bit samey but there are distinct areas, like "the pistons" with their stone columns or a forest of giant mushroom like trees, rather large complexes of ruins and so on.
And yes, the topography is not "natural" but it makes sense in the context of the setting as the lore establishes that cataclysms that do all sorts of crazy stuff (like locally change gravity for example) have ripped this landscape apart and reshaped it over and over. I actually think it's cool that they came up with a background that allowed them to find a logical reason to construct a very different landscape. In terms of gameplay, the landscape is also important to be this way because clearly it has been designed to provide maximum fun for flying. Even the shaper ruin's architecture has been quite deliberately set up (I think) to provide a great flying experience. It is intelligent design that the shapers loved to build everything with holes or columns that we can now fly through.
I mean, I am not sure how long the world would keep me interested (my play time is not nearly as long as the time I put into, say, Inquisition) but so far, I think it works fairly well.
That said, I would like (and do hope for) additional and very different content in the future. I've seen multiple suggestion for an ice region on the boards and I'd have to agree, that would be great. But for now, the design of what they made so far is already pretty spectacular IMO.

LOL plus the gameplay is essentially Andromeda 2.0....

How is it the most beautiful opening world ever if it has loading screens mid-traversal?
How is that an actual "open world"? Seems like it's gated with a loading screen to me.
This is a genuine question.

This is a genuine question. I think the main map is actually open, requiring no loading screens. Sub dungeons require one and the stupid thether when the game thinks you're too far away from the other players.

Just as the open world of Skyrim isn't gated with loading screens unless you enter a dungeon etc. Which is where you get loading screens in Anthem as well.

This is a genuine question. It's a big and pretty map (despite significant downgrades from the E3 trailer) for enemies and objectives to spawn in - "world" is really stretching it a bit there. Loading screens happen when you enter caves and dungeons, which is okay I guess, and also when you respawn or are too far away from the other players which is less okay in my opinion.

Thinking about it more, the dialogue with NPCs is definitely giving me the Bioware vibe. During ME3 the PTSD Asari and lost teen/C-sec Turian conversations were great background -- not part of the main storyline, but served to flesh out the world. The freelancer's conversations are similar except we are playing the part of the therapist/C-sec officer. I had several conversations yesterday with an old woman standing near the market in Fort Tarsis and the ending legit made me tear up.
I also appreciated that the conversations didn't lead you around by the nose by making quest markers pop up. I met a woman in the market who had a thing and later met another woman who needed the thing and just by talking to them both was able to get everything sorted without the need for "Quest: Go talk to so-and-so in the market about the thing." It felt more organic that way.

You know mundo, learn to comprehend. I haven't played this game. My question was genuine. God damn. Then I suggest you research the question better before jumping to conclusions. Why? Every other criticism I read is about fucking loading screens. You're playing. I don't need to research anything unless I'm definitely interested in it - I can ask you, or better the others that aren't Faction [HOSTILE] (which is most of the forum). For a champion of this game, you sure are inviting to others. I didn't cry "fake news", I didn't say Anthem Game Bad. I said, hey I'm ignorant of this, please answer my question. So, be a pal and answer the question, or kindly fuck off Otherwise you'll have to be moderated :thunder:

Then I suggest you research the question better before jumping to conclusions. Why? Every other criticism I read is about fucking loading screens. You're playing. I don't need to research anything unless I'm definitely interested in it - I can ask you, or better the others that aren't Faction [HOSTILE] (which is most of the forum). For a champion of this game, you sure are inviting to others. I didn't cry "fake news", I didn't say Anthem Game Bad. I said, hey I'm ignorant of this, please answer my question. So, be a pal and answer the question, or kindly fuck off Otherwise you'll have to be moderated :thunder: Loading screens only happen during the start of missions/freeplay or when entering "dungeons". There is no loading screen when flying or moving anywhere else. Also they have been significantly lowered from what others said with Day One Patch.
