People buy GTA5 all the time, because GTA Online. It's a never ending Live Service behemoth that more and more people flock to everyday. As for Rainbow 6? it's a very popular title, just released a new Season of content that brought in droves of new players. But please, keep making excuses to justify your opinion. I chuckled out loud at this. "Duck season, fire!" Classic Looney Tunes. Seems to be more grouse season.

Yeah, it's tough to be a #1 seller when your competition at the moment is GTA V and R6 Siege. Which we all know just came out last week and are thus selling like hotcakes. Jump force? Metro Exodus? Far cry: New Dawn?

Second person from the game industry that has dished out really crappy advice. Sure, in this generally time poor world the best way to spend that incredibly limited time would be to test every game, movie, tv show, book that you're interested in, because that's a 100% realistic goal. If that was an option to begin with people wouldn't read reviews. I would alternatively advise to find people who's opinions you trust, in the general community if you want, who has played the game and listen to them. And only if those people have you excited, to take the leap. Live play videos (to address the idiotic comments from Microsoft's vice president) are of limited and specific use, to watch only when you know exactly what you want to find out. Of course you are right, about the people whose opinion you trust. I was just generally saying how low the quality of the reviews are/were (I think they are still?). I still stand behind the best way to to know is play it yourself. Nobody else, and especially videos cannot tell you how it FEELS to play it + theres always the bias of reviewer. For me I will not of course test every game movie tv show - only those which REALLY interest me. They are quite rare these days ... Yeah tbh I think Biowaer's games that aer the only things keeping me going these days at least from a gaming perspective

Far cry: New Dawn? I don't even know what Jump Force is, so can't comment. But Metro was never a great seller and is more of a critical darling than anything else. And New Dawn is widely accepted to be tanking hard right now and selling really poor. So really not much of a competition out there.

Seeing as it is so supposedly easy get no1 without actually selling any significant numbers even a tanking Far cry should be able to shouldn't it? I don't really know much about Jum force either but according to the internet Buzz of negativity around Anthem it was one of those games that would prove that Anthems twitch numbers were low, sales horrible and so on and so forth ad nauseum.

Guys, no fan ever looks at sales numbers except to try and back up a position he already feels. It's a silly game, so why play it?

Firstly, I'm genuinely glad you like the game, OP. I kinda envy you - as a fellow gamer, I love trying and buying new games and having fun playing them. I hope you'll enjoy Anthem for a long time to come. That said, don't be like the few people on this forum that seem to be in complete denial of Anthem's flaws. It's okay to like flawed games. I like some severely flawed games too, but I'm aware of their flaws and not denying them. I think that's a more realistic attitude than the Oslo Effect that some folks here appear to have going on... or whatever that thing with the Scandinavian town is being called. Their line of thought seems to be "Critics are terrible when they don't like what I like, but quite okay when they pick my favourite game as GOTY. Then I'll quote them often." What about Mass Effect 1's flaw? Or Mass Effect 2's flaws? Some say they too are many. Let us look at a passage from Metacritic scriptures. How this ever became a series? Why it's a miracle, ye of little faith.

The bunny has been drumming like its batteries are sponsored by EA ever since being switched on. Which is fine. The game can only get better in the best case. But ignoring the overall feedback won't make it go away. Yet some say the feedback of Mass Effect 1 ruined Mass Effect 2. So who is really wrong?

I didn't know New Dawn sold as much as Far Cry 5. You must have access to data nobody else has Or is it possible that New Dawn isn't Far Cry 5 and the sales of the previous title mean nothing for the sales of the new one? If Anthem is trying to beat New Dawn, that means that Anthem's sales just need to be poor and not very poor
And Metro can be anticipated by the critics and it's fans, but I doubt that it sold 6 million copies total for the whole franchise put together. How much was Anthem supposed to sell in it's first month again?
And the competition to beat was always The Division 2. Which no doubt will release with slogans like "no loading screens", "loads of phat lewt", "many endgame activities" (or just "endgame" will be enough ), "PvP", "polished experience", etc.

Or in general? Because I just played the Private Beta and it felt much better polished than the full game of Anthem. The full game of The Division might be different story.

But what you DO see is a bunch of "I don't care what """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""critics"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" say, I love this game!" It's obvious who is being defensively irrational here.

I take it your aware that a bunch of those publications are owned by finance houses (groups) that also own competing games companies and there all upset with EA for refusing to join the group and being too expensive to just buy... so there trying their damnedest to sink the share price and buy them up... I actually think its funny just how hard they trash on EA games and then give fantastic reviews for other stuff thats not even half as completed (like NMS) * and yes I am aware of the problems that anthem has, some of them are downright annoying but in the main my biggest problem is with my pc /router causing connection errors (thats where the logs indicate is the biggest problem) many of those errors are caused by my router constantly being port scanned (again its in the logs) I suspect some of the reasons why the game is appearing buggy are also down to the connections getting overloaded in a similar fashion.... and some of the reasons are its just got some bugs in it like every other game out there (and lets face it TW3 and skyrim both had massive game breaking bugs some of which are still there) Complete and utter tin hattery right here. Are the illuminati in on it too? Just trying to keep a good company like BioWare down because they threaten the status quo man. Put down the joint. have you looked at the news in the last 20 years and seen who bought who when were and why? the company that owns Activision also owns more than half of the multimedia industry in the western hemisphere and its effectively a collection of 20 moneymen who hide behind the scenes and numerous shell corporations to disguise their ownership of the majority of the media industry (there in the shit legally for it in the EU although they have filled several appeals to try and get the judgement against them written off, they dont have a prayer since their pet macron had the rug pulled out from under him) as for the bollox about the illuminati, its an urban legend birthed to hide hte fact that a few very rich guys in London for nigh on 300 years controlled most trade on the seas, its now expanded its role as a convenient smokescreen behind which similar moneymen hide their activities from the public and every time they come too close to getting cornered yet another "secret society" gets unmasked (like the Templar's or Mason's or the Bilderberg's etcetera) for them to melt away back into the shadows yet again... theres a reason why so many billionaires dont appear in the rich list, its because unlike some media whores they crave the shadows not the limelight...

Truth be told, sales don't worry me. What worries me is that last week I had 20+ people on my Origin friend list playing Anthem almost at any time. Last few days? In the EU prime time I see between 2 and 6 max. Which I also feel in the content - I used to get geared people in GM1 activities and now I keep getting 2 people with 250-380 rating in each Legendary contract and Stronghold I do at GM1. This worries me. I see the same thing in BF2 where many activities I enjoy (Starfighter, Ewok Hunt) barely ever start outside of prime time due to shortage of players and even at prime time you have to wait. And BF2 sold what? 8 million? Well, that's... disappointing. I had thought I might pick up Anthem once they've addressed some of the more rage-inducing issues, but it sounds like it's already shedding players. Maybe they got frustrated with the endgame/loot issues and some will come back as that improves and more content is released? I certainly hope so.

I stopped reading reviews like 4-5 years ago, as one working in the gaming industry, it saddens me how crappy they've become generally. Best way is to test/play the game by yourself, you are the one playing it, not some person somewhere. My biggest mistake in recent years was to believe some hype/reviews of Witcher 3 and it fell more flat than ever after ~13 hours... Enjoy Anthem, I know I do I’ve found game reviews to decline into being more generic ambiguous wish-wash over the last decade with the writers using more and more subjective praise/gripes about the game they’re discussing. Plus if a person playing the game doesn’t bother trying to understand the game, they let their ignorance reflect in their review by citing “it’s too hard” or “it’s too confusing” or some such nonsense. Referring specifically to Ace Combat 6 and No Man’s Sky Next reviews.

Noone. But with all the drumming der batteries will need changing soon.
