What didn't last long? By your reasoning every game that has ever gotten a discount in the past should now be f2p? They clearly aren't. EA hasn't touched Anthems price yet. Or is it Bestbuy that decides wether EAs games should go f2p?
Trigger much?
That was obviously a sneer, and not meant as a realistic opinion.

A reseller will discount to clear physical stock, though this is EA's 'most digital game'.
I notice the pricing on Xbox remains unchanged.
Amazon prices range from $32 - $39, depending on platform and game version.

Amazon prices for physical copies are under €30,- in Germany now, while download codes are still full price. They just want to get rid of the [Pb] on their shelves. Download codes don't waste storage capacity.
I strongly doubt that Anthem will go free to play any time soon.

For the quarter it was released in, "Anthem" was only sporadically discounted $10 on physical copies through Amazon and it wasn't until two months after release that it saw it's first $39.99. Makes sense of them to significantly discount the "Legion of Dawn" edition since it's only skins, weapons that are pretty useless after playing halfway through the game and the digital soundtrack.
Now, it's about moving inventory of physical copies.

Are folks claiming doom and gloom over standard business?

Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of "Hmmm, discounted after 3 months, game must be dead" takes

Well, I play nigh-daily (for now), and I can confirm the player base is very much on life support. Don't get me wrong, whoever's there is usually a great player... but the amount of players has dropped significantly. Yesterday, Every game I started (and half of games I finished) had less than 4 players.

Well, with no new content, other than "The Sunken Cell", in a while, I think it's pretty standard for people to play other things until something happens. Whether you consider that a "death knell" or "standard ebb and flow" of a Live Service game is usually colored by your opinions of the game and BioWare itself. Lately, I've been busy getting my house in shape so I have only had limited time to play, meaning I get in a few Strongholds and Legendary Contracts before having to exit. Last night, I played three Strongholds and the three Legendary Contracts and, of the six missions, only one had to be back-filled (Yarrow's Contract). Maybe it's what I am choosing to play. That's not to say I haven't played some Legendary Missions solo or with one other person in the past week, but it's been rare.
In reference to the game going on sale, just like the waning player base, you are either going to view it as "uh oh" or "yeah, three months...that's about right". Selling the game's physical inventory at $29.99 - $39.99 doesn't seem like a desperation move, especially considering they had no major price adjustments until the middle of April.

Really?
The bits ive played in the past few weeks I can only say that rarely happens. Though I fully admit I am only doing 1-2 hours sessions at best due to my work schedule in overdrive at the moment.
Almost every run is at a full 4 or gets there in a few minutes.
I could just be lucky, it is on PS4 which seems to have a solid base of players. Or, its just timing and im not noticing.

Hey, whateve you're experiencing is a lie. So is my full lobbies, if some other random players says it's on life support then it is. Diablo III has been on life suppport for seven years now. Last time I played ESO I had trouble filling up some activities. That game is on such serious life support they had to expand on the servers and re add the cue system in europe a while back.

Good for you peoples that you still have full lobbies.
I can state objectively (as I've been playign since launch in the same time windows always) that for the first 2 months, regardless of activity, matchmaking never made a full circle and I always had 4 people at the start of a game; and that now matchmaking takes more than a circle 50% of the times, and I only rarely start with 4 people immediately.
Zealously sarcastify that into a doomsday view however the frick you like.

Andrew Johnson @untdrew If you've experiencing connectivity problems today in #AnthemGame, the team is working on it and you should start to see improved connectivity soon.

Well, Andrew, why did it break in the first place? Just curious.

Dusty5hadows @andyb117 @untdrew @darokaz @camerondayton can you guys help me with an ongoing discussion that's happening in my discord group? Does sacrificing Grabbits help with our leggo drop rate? Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest it does, but would like some confirmation from behind the scenes pls
Andrew Johnson @untdrew Plz tell me this isn’t a real theory...
jejezman @jejezman56 i'm not saying it's working…. but I got more legendaries after the big hunt

That sounds suspiciously much like information you're trying to attain.
We don't do that here anymore, didn't you hear? It makes them appear much more professional.

LOL,
Andrew is muzzled. No surprise there. However, we can infer that it's a problem created at their end. For the "team" to drop working on Anthem development and focus on the game's connection issue means it was serious or deemed so by mgt.
Morpheus: "know what happened happened and that it could not have happened in any other way".
Anthem doesn't appear to have conventional DLC's - everything will happen within updates, like the Cataclysm or new dungeons or else. And I think they're waiting with news about the Cataclysm till E3 EA Play.

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
In review of the some of the comments from devs who have worked at BioWare, it seems "crunch" like this was kind of standard for games like "Jade Empire", "Mass Effect", and the "Dragon Age" series. Jonathan Cooper, one of the animation leads on "Mass Effect 2" (he's now with Naughty Dog) said that game had minimal crunch and was among his best experiences shipping a game. On the other hand, Mike Laidlaw has reminisced about "Jade Empire's" brutal crunch period and how EA only gave them 16 months to ship a "Dragon Age 2".
Would I like for these guys to not have to deal with this work experience? Absolutely...
Does the market still reward this type of work experience? Just look at Rockstar, Epic, CDPR, Warner Brothers, etc
