Most PTS' I've seen are PC exclusive. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think its easier to do it this way given that any updates made to it (PTS) don't have to go through certification (like on Xbox or Playstation).
Entirely logical. Faster too.

Yep - it's also likely the reason why usually PC gamers get updates and patches a week or two faster than consoles. Elsweyr for ESO has been on PCs for 2 weeks now, yet it's still before its official worldwide/console release on June 4th.

So, are you saying that Anthem is still in BETA? I mean after all your asking the player base to do the testing for You? Myself I preordered the game I would not have done so if I knew I for the next ten years would have had to do your testing.

It's not in beta, but the Cataclysm has a beta.
Don't want to test?
Don't have to, just hang on 2/3 weeks until it's cooked.
Choices.

*sigh*
If you can't accept that Anthem is a long-living, live service project that will get updates over the years that will benefit from public testing then yes - Anthem is still in beta and it will almost always be in beta. Just like almost every online game with continuous updates, including Bioware's SWTOR or WoW that turns 15 this year is and yes - it has a PTS (or, in their case, Public Test Realm) where people test future updates... like they do in a considerable portion of other modern online games, including supposedly "released in excellent state right out of the door" Division 2. Oh, and Destiny community want Destiny 2 to get a PTS. I guess they want the game to be in beta...

UPDATE 2: We've made some changes so that matchmaking should be quicker. The max time that a player should be in matchmaking is 3 minutes. If you experience a timer longer than this please let us know over in the bug reports section of Answers HQ.

You're joking right? Other "not yet out of beta!" games I play are The division 1 and 2, Diablo 3, Elder scrolls online and last but not least - World of Warcraft. Yup, soon to be fifteen years in beta.

I would think it's also more useful on PC because there are so many different builds of PC, different settings, different graphics cards, CPU's etc. There's no way to test all of the combinations without opening up to the public.
Whereas with consoles all the hardware is a fixed variable. In general, if it works for one person it will work for everyone with that console. Not so much with PC!

Why would you even ask such a question? Are you a hater with an agenda?
Post release public test servers are usually a different kind of testing that a normal QA beta test. Here, players test how new or changed game mechanics work, how new items and enemies are balanced, how well the updated game plays and how much fun it is. It is not, or at least should not be, about testing whether the wheels still fall off whenever you take a left turn. Some dev studios want lots of feedback from test server players, others prefer to just watch the telemetry data they're getting from it and adjust the features being tested accordingly. But either way it is basically a collaboration between developers and players to shape the future of a game when it's done right. It's a good thing to have them, because they are a kind of tangible proof that the devs want to do right by their player base.

Sorry I did not reply sooner, but yes I was joking (just call it a family emergency) the board was so …..well quiet, so I threw out there a odd ball comment to see if anyone was out there and to be honest I got 4 comments the last was today, so... be as it may to be honest I don.t test simply because I do not need a (guessing) head start or a leg up on others so correct me if I'm wrong I'm not when it comes to MMO'S an elitist this game (4 toons) doesn't fit the bill but with that said if you all want to test I wont stand in your way I enjoy figuring out what has to be done to....well survive.

There's not much to discuss. There's only so many times you can say the loot in this looter shooter is broken and therefore fundamentally unsatisfying to play.

If that was a view held by consensus, perhaps. It isn't.

There’s a storm on the horizon. Something big is on the way. A Cataclysm is coming, and if you own the game on PC or are a current Origin Access Premier subscriber, you can get an early look with the new Public Test Server* – available starting June 4.
What Is a Cataclysm?
It's a season-long event with new enemies to fight, mysteries to uncover, and power to be gained.
What Is the Anthem Public Test Server?
It’s a way for Anthem PC players to share their feedback about the upcoming Cataclysm experience before it’s available to everyone. Currently, the Public Test Server (PTS) is only available on PC (and in English), to anyone who owns Anthem on PC or is an active Origin Access Premier subscriber.
What Else Do I Need to Know About the PTS?
Here are the key points:
When: starting June 4 (While we’re testing new content on the PTS, there will be occasional downtime for server restarts or maintenance, and there may be additional patches to download – see Twitter for the latest updates.) Who can play: all current Anthem PC owners or anyone with an active Origin Access Premier subscription. Where you can find it: visit your game library on Origin.com. How to give feedback: visit the PTS Forums. All eligible players will find a special Anthem PTS tile in their game library on Origin. Just click on the tile to start the download, accept the PTS Agreement, and you’ll be able to begin playing on June 4. That’s all there is to it, no additional registration or special sign-ins. Just download, opt-in for the PTS on the main screen by accepting the PTS Agreement, and play.
You won’t be able to bring your current javelins, currency, XP, or any other items into the Public Test Server, nor will you be able to take anything earned in the PTS back to your regular version of the game. You’ll enter the PTS at level 30 and with all four javelins unlocked, so you can focus your time and attention on the Cataclysm itself instead of worrying about leveling up.
While the Public Test Server is available, you’ll have a chance to explore new areas, take on tough enemies, and face some of the deadliest weather events the world of Anthem can throw at you. You’ll also have the chance to let us know what you like (or don’t like) about what you’re experiencing. Feel free to visit the PTS Forums to leave your feedback for the game team and discuss what you’ve seen and done with your fellow Freelancers.
Have more questions? Please visit our EA Help page for answers.
We look forward to hearing what you think of this preview of the first elements of a Cataclysm in the dangerous, ever-changing world of Anthem.
This is probably going to bite them in the ass, but at least the info will be out there.
They are being lambasted already by those who have decided it's probably shit.
So they may as well be judged for what it actually is.

Some games are so mainstream they don't need word of mouth advertising, like FIFA, or MADDEN, or NBA 2k all of which the word of mouth is really bad. But if you like basketball then you need to play NBA 2k, and if you like football you need to play FIFA, and there are a lot of basketball and football fans. So it doesn't matter if the gaming community thinks these games are jokes.
But if you're not really mainstream and are struggling with image and perception, then boy does it help to have a largish group of core fans to help spread hype, set the record straight, and help control the narrative for the devs. Good thing Bioware has actively been cultivating just such a fanbase cause otherwise they might really be in trouble ... *nervous laughter goes in here*

Except. It is.
I enjoy anthem, but loot wise it is unsatisfying. And that IS general consensus.

Which Legion of Dawn member founded the Dominion? What is the name of the first Freelancer? What is the name of the world of Anthem?
First to answer all three correctly is Loremaster for June. Nobody has all three yet. I'll post here when we have a winner.

I don't think we know the name of the world yet. Unless that is something specified in the comics?
