If the "thing" we are experiencing right now is the two week "warm-up" to the Cataclysm, then … Live update 1.3 is less than two weeks away. Just because I'm a bit skeptical … I'm still keeping the weapons, gear, support gear and components that have luck … I'll salvage them once I see how much armor we get in lieu of luck, also keep those few items that luck is just a small part of why I use them. On the bright side, getting rid of a bunch of items that had luck, across all four Javelins … will free up considerable space in my manifest … For all that cool new weapon and gear loot I'm gonna get.

u/AngryKFPandaThe server has shut down. First time playing ages, can usually manage around 15 minutes in freeplay before this happens, no warning just insta kick. Just me? UNTDrewWe are aware that some players have been experiencing more kicks from Freeplay recently. The team is looking into this and what might be causing it. (via reddit)

It's been squirrelly all day … not just freeplay, but in strongholds and LCs … plus the LM.
At times a bit laggy. Seeing lots of player turnover in matches … getting kicked myself in freeplay … several times.
Seems like they need some server downtime to do a little maintenance … especially before game-related things start to ramp up.
At various times, TPS had stability issues (like CTDs) … including last week, but after the latest patch, things returned to stable game play.

I tried to play yesterday for the first time in two months but kept getting kicked with the error message sever shut down so much for coming back to Anthem, guess I'll try again in another two months

For what it's worth. I haven't even been following Anthem news/playing it for over a month. I logged in today on a whim just to play for a bit, jumped into Freeplay to see Faye talking to me about Shaper Crystals and crap, like I already knew what it was. (thanks for the exposition Bioware <.<) And decided to fly around to see whats going on. I find a couple of events where I stand around shooting giant crystals for reasons that the game does not really bother explaining. Faceroll through all the enemies present because the games challenge has been neutered by never ending NPC nerfs. Then after playing for about 30 minutes and seeing absolutely no variety in the missions provided, even less than normal if you can believe it, I try to leave Freeplay....only to realize I literally cannot bring up ANY of the menus what-so-ever. I cannot leave freeplay, I cannot check the map, I cannot do anything except quit to PS4 Dashboard entirely. Then, after several minutes of trying to quit, just as I was about to quit to dashboard in a fit of rage, a loading screen appears....afterwards telling me the Server was shut down and I was sent back to Fort Tarsis....It was at this moment my anger and annoyance washed away and I started to just laugh in flabbergasted exasperation/ disbelief.
Still the same old broken ass game, after having not touched it in like 2 months...I'm so done with this crap.

Obviously, the two did not discuss.
I wonder if talking to NPCs after being away for some months is the only way to catch up on the world.

Yea, and how am I, as a player, suppose to know that Sofa, when I log in and see absolutely Zero Conversation icons anywhere, just like I have the last 3 months? Nor is is stated anywhere on their frankly pointless, unhelpful News Feed when you log in? Fayes Icon did not appear at all until I was literally 3 inches from her face, which was pure luck that I even got that close because I was checking the now pointless Job Board looking for these promised 2 new missions which aren't here.

Yea, and how am I, as a player, suppose to know that Sofa, when I log in and see absolutely Zero Conversation icons anywhere, just like I have the last 3 months? The way to miss it entirely would be by not going into Freeplay. But if you do, you'll inevitably bump into some crystals. Faye then asks you to grab a sample and discuss it with her. The conversation icon is on the Fort map reminding you to chat.

On PC … it is bugged … the conversation icon doesn't show up on the map … you have to walk up to Faye to get the bubble to trigger, then have the talk. Overall, it's a minor issue, compared to game and server stability, but if you haven't played PTS and you're on PC, you won't know to have that conversation with Faye … unless you stumble into it.
I don't specifically recall if this one was bugged in PTS or not … if it was, they didn't fix it before adding to the base game. That seems to be a thing … bugs identified in PTS not being fixed before going live. I'm not sure how BioWare thinks that is a good idea … I thought one of the motivations behind PTS was to help prevent these kinds of things.
Most of the conversations in PTS triggered the icon on the map … but there were also issues in PTS with conversations triggering, but not being able to complete them. After a while, the icon and the bubble above the NPC just disappeared (had one with Brin, one with Harken … both reported in PTS feedback).
Some conversations were out of sequence in PTS … but as the story progressed, they seemed to get the sequence sorted out … I attributed that to seeing the development process evolve and updating stuff in PTS as it became ready. We'll see if that's actually the case.
The game instability and server issues we are seeing now were also present in PTS … and they mostly got those sorted out … they tended to reappear with a content update, then additional efforts restored both game and server stability/reliability. Again, I thought part of PTS was to ID those issues and prevent them from showing up when the new content went live in the base game. I understand that not all the bugs could get fixed before going live … but some of the major issues identified in PTS … like server and game instability?? Not good. Not good at all.

The thing is, I was so pissed about having been disconnected from the server whilst having fun with the game for the first time in a month, I was still raging in my head while I re-logged on and saw the faye bubble. So I completely missed what she was talkign about...
Anyone got a transcript? (Or the gist of it?)

Faye had the arcanists study the samples the Freelancer got from the crystal structures. The samples are residue that is produced by the anthem. While not the same substance, it is similar to the embers created when a shaper relic is overcharged (my word) by the anthem and "boils over" … the residue is what is boiling over. So the Dominion, for whatever reason, is using some kind of technology/technique to cause the Anthem to boil over … like when they tried to start a cataclysm … but it doesn't appear that they are having a lot of success or that they control the outcome. The freelancer says something to the effect, "leave it to the Dominion to do something stupid."
