Madden 19 was the 5th bestselling game over the past 12 months ending July 31st...how disappointing
Are you quoting NPD figures? Madden is an American games aimed at an American audience and so American figures will tend to skew how well they did, mainly because Madden isn't anywhere near as successful anywhere else in the world.
Madden 19 sold maybe 8 million copies? Maybe? Anthem was aiming for 5-6 mil in the first month. EA was expecting Anthem to outperform Madden

Sure...
Poor phrasing on my part. EA was expecting Anthem to outsell this iteration of Madden (not all sport fans update every year)

Look, I don't buy it but my feelings are irrelevant. One thing about NPD though is they are not able to track Origin PC sales and both Anthem and Madden 20 have reported by EA as having a significant digital sales response. They may be "disappointed" but I don't their "disappointment" is enough to derail Anthem's short term roadmap nor the development of Madden 21

In 2018, after the first week of Madden 2019 sales, EA announced the franchise had sold cumulatively over the course of its history 130 million copies. This doesn't include mobile which has like, 70 million installs, but we're not talking about mobile. The franchise began pre 1990. That means over 30 years the game has sold 130 mil. Now of course through the 80s and 90s the copies sold would have been very low, but what this statistic also shows is that Madden is not FIFA (FIFA 18 sold 24 million copies).
Dammit. I really hope they put someone in charge of anthem who can lead cuz otherwise, just as i was getting hope again, it aint be looking too rosy anymore...

Ben Irving @benirvo After 8 amazing years at BioWare I have made the decision to move on and have accepted an exciting opportunity at another gaming company. Since the first time I played Baldurs Gate many many years ago, BioWare was the dream place I always wanted to work.
I will forever be grateful to all the people who gave me the chance to work on great products with amazing people. I believe Anthem has a bright future - there is a great team working on it and I look forward to following its progress (and playing it!) from the sidelines.
I have really enjoyed interacting with the Anthem community - Streams, Twitter and Reddit. Through the good times and the tough times. You all are in great hands with @darokaz and @untdrew (and have been for some time now). I wish nothing but the best for all of you. Ben.
Where did I stash that champagne again...
On the bright side - SWTOR slowly recovered after Ben was kicked upstairs to Anthem. Some hope here now.

So you think him leaving the company altogether is a good thing? I figured since he was one of the more prominent faces on Social Media and Dev. Interviews and he seemed to be a vocal advocate for the game, that losing Mr Irving would be a huge blow for ANTHEM and for Bioware, like losing Mike Laidlaw on the Dragon Age team

Losing the PR guy that only has fails in his resume as a lead? Not an issue I think. He was not even close to what Mike Laidlaw brought to the team. Irving's stint at SWTOR was easily the biggest disaster that game had to deal with. And he was a prominent face on Social Media and a vocal advocate for the game as well back then. Best thing he ever did for SWTOR was to leave it. And with the upcoming 6.0 update the game will be abolishing just about the last traces of the "exciting new RNG mechanics" Ben Irving pushed to introduce during his reign. So that's that.

Re: Ben leaving......That's a fair point. And as for Mike Laidlaw, yes I agree he was pretty big for the DA Team, it was sad to see him leave. Also, with regards to (Ben Irving's) time on SWTOR.....I never followed or played that game so I can't comment. I have watched the "movie cutscenes", which tell an amazing story, but that's it. I never followed (SWTOR) development as I have with ANTHEM, DA or ME, nor played the game so I can't comment on that part. As for any future Updates/Patches/ New Content that is in the works for ANTHEM even after his departure....well, we can hope for the best and see what comes.

Biggest criticisms I've heard regarding his time working on SWTOR was the implementation of the Galactic Command system. Something to do about having a massive amount of grind.
Tal Peleg @the_Ur_Quan Hope you all liked the story scenes in @anthemgame's Cataclysm the cine team @bioware has delivered in a short time span. ❤️ Here's an uncut edit of some them:

Paul Tassi @paultassi I declare with a straight face that Anthem is better than The Division 2 right now
Chris Schmidt @nighguy We worked really hard on content which we thought would surprise and delight fans while trying something a little different. Lots of ongoing work to do, and it's not the 'fix everything' patch, but a sign of what the team is capable of delivering. Check it out! #AnthemGame

We already discussed that first one...
The patch is indeed good. But until they make inscriptions changeable / craftable in some way, endgame won't be as it should. Oh, and buff storm ffs.

LOL !!
I bet they wish they had Blizzard's problem with WOW Classic. Server queues are in the 10K range.
