Anthem @anthemgameThe PTS is now live, Freelancers! It runs until the 11th, so play while you can! Details here: www.ea.com/games/anthem/news/play-icetide-early-on-pc-with-public-test-serverWhat Is the Public Test Server? It’s a way for Anthem PC players to share their feedback about upcoming content before it’s available to everyone. Currently, the Public Test Server (PTS) is only available on PC (and in English), to anyone who owns Anthem on PC or is an active Origin Access subscriber. What Will I Experience in the Icetide PTS?During the Icetide PTS, the Tyrant Mine Stronghold will be available for you to complete. It will include timers, score multipliers, Inversions, and leaderboards so you’ll need to be very tactical if you want to increase your score and earn Crystals for unique winter-themed rewards. You’ll also find plenty to do in Freeplay (the mode where you can freely roam through the world of Anthem) including more encounters with outlaws, localized Snow Globe Storms to take on and a brand-new event - a Freelancer Time Trial! The Time Trial race event will respawn every five minutes so you’ll have plenty of chances to prove your javelin is the fastest in all of Bastion. You may also want to spend some time enjoying the seasonal decorations around Fort Tarsis and the Launch Bay. When is the PTS Available?November 8 – 11 Who Can Play? All current Anthem PC owners or anyone with an active Origin Access subscription. How to Get StartedAll eligible players will find a special Anthem PTS tile in their game library on Origin. Just click on the tile to start the download, accept the PTS Agreement, and you’ll be able to play starting on November 8. That’s all there is to it, no additional registration or special sign-ins. Just download, opt-in for the PTS on the main screen by accepting the PTS Agreement, and play. You won’t be able to bring your current javelins, currency, XP, or any other items into the Public Test Server, nor will you be able to take anything earned in the PTS back to your regular version of the game. All players will enter the PTS at level 30 and with all four javelins unlocked, so you can focus your time and attention on the experience itself instead of worrying about leveling up. If you played in the previous PTS, all accounts have been reset to use the newest template. How to Share Your FeedbackYou’ll have the chance to let us know what you like (or don’t like) about what you’re experiencing. Feel free to visit the PTS Forums to leave your feedback for the game team and discuss what you’ve seen and done with your fellow Freelancers. Have more questions? Please visit our EA Help page for answers. Anthem is available now in both Standard Edition and the Legion of Dawn Edition for Xbox One, PlayStation® 4, and PC. Play the Standard Edition with EA Access and Origin Access Basic or the Legion of Dawn Edition with Origin Access Premier†. Make sure not to miss any of the latest info and sign up for the Anthem newsletter for all the latest Anthem news, updates, behind-the-scenes content, offers, and more (including other EA news, products, events, and promotions) by email. Follow Anthem on Twitter and Instagram. * PERSISTENT INTERNET CONNECTION REQUIRED TO PLAY. REQUIRES ANTHEM ON PC OR ACTIVE ORIGIN ACCESS PREMIER MEMBERSHIP (EACH SOLD SEPARATELY) AND ALL GAME UPDATES. YOU MUST BE 18+ & ACCEPT PUBLIC TEST SERVER AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN PUBLIC TEST SERVER PROGRAM. **Note: While we’re testing new content on the PTS, there will be occasional downtime for server restarts or maintenance, and there may be additional patches to download – see Twitter for the latest updates.

Prepping for another seasonal event it is then. Probably going to last for another 2 months like the Cataclysm. I wonder if BioWare is just bidding their time before making more permanent content additions in February; which would be a year after it's launch. It's pretty clear that the community is looking for more permanent additions to the game that doesn't just force them into FOMO (Fear of missing out) situations with everything they interact with from here on out.

Christmas is next month, so clearly we'll have seasonal stuff - we don't know what next update will bring tho.

Andrew Johnson @untdrew Please Note: If you’re playing on PC and don’t see the PTS in the Origin client, you might have to search for it on Origin.

Hm... No question this stuff is mostly seasonal. However, I wonder if Bio has a plan for Anthem 2 that is quite devilish. You see, they can't fix the core game without heavy disruptions to the remaining player base. So, I'm thinking, their plan is to work on Anthem 2 and incorporating what the players like from the PTS into the A2 design.
In the meantime, Bio will continue with the new drip, drip content while in the background Santa's helpers are feverishly working on the loot drops mechanism. Diablo IV seems to have it right.

Releasing Anthem 2 would be a bad idea considering the state Anthem is in. There's still glaring issues with the first installment, and you're not going to win over players by releasing a sequel to a game that still hasn't turned itself around in the publics mind. Both Destiny and The Division 1 had to undergo these periods before a sequel was released. In your example of Diablo IV, Diablo 3 - while starting off rough - ended up in a generally good spot; especially after Reaper of Souls and the loot update. I also - personally - don't think BioWare want to consider making an Anthem sequel at this time given how many other projects are likely on their plate. In time, DA4 is going to take up the bulk of their development crews.

I'm not a Dragon Age fan (Mass Effect for me) but if Dragon Age is going to take on the theme of GAAS as it is rumored, maybe it will fair better than Anthem since that world and characters are generally set-pieces already created with well-known characters in that franchise. Not that i'm a fan of GAAS, (i like linear solid story driven narratives with strong interesting characters) but just saying that i think Dragon Age might fair a bit better than Anthem. I also agree that it would be a mistake to create Anthem 2 before correcting the issues still plaguing this game. The folks at Bioware leaving the company and the falling playerbase for Anthem really doesn't bode well for the game's future....i've always liked the design of the javelins, but Bioware kinda lost me with it's GAAS approach and the story and characters are lacking a bit.

That's about the only communication we DID get. In any case, seems like just the cataclysm score introduced in the strongholds. Good way to recycle content, I suppose. Throw some snow on it, boom, winter event. Better than a winter cataclysm though. But seriously, puzzles and hidden items AGAIN?! Guh so bored with those. Might drop by or just not care, depending on how busy I'll bee in the winter. Not a great loss, doesn;t appear to be new items.

I like ghost stories … a lot.
As a kid, I probably read every book in the school library that had ghost stories … long or short.
As a boy scout, I used to tell ghost stories around the camp fire at night.
One summer, we were canoeing in Canada … setting up our base camp on a small island.
That night, I told the story of the monkey's paw. I managed to spook the adults.
I like ghost stories … a lot.

Anthem @anthemgameBrave seasons, Freelancers! The Season of Skulls is about remembrance, yes, but it's also about coming together. The story of The Fire Inside is about family and kinship, but it's also the story of a boy who wants to be a hero like you. www.ea.com/games/anthem/news/lore-the-fire-inside

Hm... given that in the DA lore women are also in the army, the story could also be 'a girl who wants to be a heroine'.

To be fair, BSN is a VERY small demographic of the Anthem playerbase (which is probably already small). A majority of the playerbase that tried it would probably agree that it wasn't that good of an experience overall. Even as someone who played it, I could clearly see the glaring faults this game had; and did not purchase as a result. My only question, based on this article, is whether Day 1 Anthem buyers have to pay ANYTHING for this Anthem 2.0? If BioWare/EA is looking to pull back some good will, they wouldn't charge. However, considering that the game hasn't received all that much in terms of content, some could argue that paying even as little as $20 would be a slap in the face for getting a game they should have had. Outside of that, this kinda brings me back to a topic I made about that Shigeru Miyamoto quote and how, while Anthem did poorly at it's first impression, there's is a way to right it's wrongs. If an massive overhaul is in store for the game, this is - essentially - BioWare's equivalent of a FFXIV: A Realm Reborn moment; assuming Anthem NEXT lands solidly. If I'm willing to assume it's overhauled version lands in a good spot, I still have to wonder about where they plan on taking the game, as well as whether or not they have the manpower to sustain content for it. I don't particular know how large the studio is for Austin, but I believe they're still trying to maintain content for SWTOR, so juggling it and Anthem (once Edmonton fully hands it off) is going to be a challenge for the studio. On top of this, the article seems to paint the same unfortunate picture that the studio still doesn't have a concrete vision for what they want the game to be. They merely know that certain systems aren't working to the players liking. How those evolve is going to be really important, and if they're serious about this they absolutely need to look at other games in the loot-based genre.

We may be a small demographic of the playerbase but some of us can clearly see beyond our noses. ... which is a good thing.
Next, CEO Wilson mentioned that live service games are here to stay... apparently it's an industry de facto money making scheme. So, mtxs of some form will remain along with paid subscriptions..
Finally, if Bio still has a blurry vision of Anthem 2.0, I agree with you that a poke of the competitors' loot and progression systems is a must. And, oh, don't forget the studio also needs to have a consistent schedule for new content, imo. The latter being small and frequent or large and yearly? I'm hoping for something this coming Feb 2020.... you know, to celebrate Anthem's anniversary.

F*ck BioWare for giving me hope again.
Although... If I search deeply in my feelings, I have no hope, really, I have nothing for bioware. But if they give me a free update for Anthem? Sure I'll take it. If it's not free I predict even less interestest in Anthem than there was before.

Bio is working hard to monetize Anthem.... seeing as I don't see the game mentioned anywhere in the Game Awards 2019 Nominees.

Wait?...BioWare is creating merchandise based on their IP?! That's so weird...they never do that! Also, I think there is 2 or 3 more threads you forgot to link the game awards in...
