I don't think, I ever asked this question here: but does anybody else find that Anders looks like a young Charles Dance? That was the first thing, that went through my mind, when meeting DA2 Anders. It's a good thing, since CD is one of my all-time favorite actors. So of course I romanced Anders first.

maybee you shouldn't have blown up a building that one time then? then again...*glares at Solas* you're going to destroy the world...aren't you?
but in all seriousness, I wouldn't mind seeing Anders again, at least to see how he's coping with the whole possessed/tainted thing and maybe just maybe if he figured out a way to actually separate himself from Justice like he promised Hawke , poor guy still needs a cat

They have cat and mabari too. Perfect fairy tale! (Wo needs Disney-prince, if can have Anders?) Now seriously, if they would bring back Anders, I'm sure many would be disappointed. But this is a tweet is cute from his VA. Adam Howden is a treasure... I love that fanart!

(but of course I can't find it anymore)
and you're welcome for the fanart ^^ for some reason I keep finding cute fan art of Anders, and he's not even my main romance, I have this weird love/hate relationship with Anders (in fact there's only a handful of characters I actively dislike)
Anders: *kitty eyes* me: yeah yeah *pats his head* you're a good one, crazy...but good

People say Anders' snark disappeared in DA2, but it's still there.
A good moment was when Emile complains about being a virgin and Anders says "Ferelden's Circle was a lot more fun. Everybody was kissing everybody."

People say Anders' snark disappeared in DA2, but it's still there. A good moment was when Emile complains about being a virgin and Anders says "Ferelden's Circle was a lot more fun. Everybody was kissing everybody." And you can see, how sarcastic it is, if you compare with this:
- Sebastian: You seem very angry.
- Anders: And here I thought the Chantry was against mind-reading.
- Sebastian: Did something happen to you in the Circle? I understand there were problems in Ferelden...
- Anders: Are you saying a mage can only be unhappy in the Circle if demons were involved?
- Anders: No, it's not about Uldred. It's not about being beaten or raped by a templar— that does happen, but I've been fortunate.
- Anders: It' s a larger principle: the freedom every man, woman, and child born in Thedas have as a natural right.
- Sebastian: You were given to the Circle. I was given to the Chantry. Hawke was driven away from home by the Darkspawn.
- Sebastian: None of us are free.

What happens if Hawke romances Anders and spares his life in Act 3? Happy ending? Depends. If they were in full rivalry, hardly, especially of Hawke forced him to fight against the mages – in this case, he's suicidal. He fears his Justice-part in this case, the rivalry isn't only between Anders and Hawke but between Justice and Anders as well. If Hawke can't accept him (Anders/Justice), their relationship remains just some unhealthy obsession... and as in the Inquisition Hawke, who disagree with him speaks, s/he stayed with him because of feels sorry for him. I can't call it "happy end". But if Hawke supports him, absolutely happy end. They go from Circle to Circle and help the mages in the final steps to rebel (DAI, Hawke). They are comrades, friends and lovers. The most satisfying fulfilled romance in the whole DA to me.

If Hawke was romanced and alive;
Anders has been freed from Justice, as Varric was able to pass on to Hawke the information he'd learned in JoH, that the Avvar know of a way to undo spiritual possession. We learn that Hawke and Anders eventually made their way to Stone-Bear Hold and were able to separate the two, returning Justice back into the Fade and giving Anders a new lease on life.
Thanks to rumours spread by Varric, people have slowly come to believe that Anders perished during the Mage-Templar war, allowing Hawke and Anders to have some semblance of a normal life. And to remain low-profile and put his past firmly behind him, Anders now goes solely by his birth name (meaning we finally learn it).
If Hawke was unromanced, or was romanced but left in the Fade;
Justice appears as an enemy boss, having subsumed Anders and his personality entirely. After the loss of his friends/lover, there was little Anders could do to hold onto his sanity, so eventually the lines between them eroded away until there was no-one left but Justice.
People say Anders' snark disappeared in DA2, but it's still there. Anders: There's something here that just doesn't feel right.
Aveline: You mean how mages are treated?
Anders: No... I think there's not enough dog shit.
Anders: So, I never expected to be palling around with the Captain of the Guard.
Aveline: We're not pals. Anders: We're not? What about that time we painted each others toenails?
Aveline: Do you want something?
Anders: Love, life and liberty. What more does a man need?
Aveline: You're in a jolly mood.
Anders: Well, when you're here, I know you're not leading men into Darktown to arrest me.
It's a shame there weren't more moments of this snarky, chipper Anders occasionally poking his head out.

Anders: Well, when you're here, I know you're not leading men into Darktown to arrest me. It's a shame there weren't more moments of this snarky, chipper Anders occasionally poking his head out. And, this is why I don't want him back. I like some of your ends, but I'm afraid, they would pick some scary version, like your last example. What naturally not absolutely excluded, but I think, he wouldn't lose himself, in some vengeance, he rather would leave the world – the hermit on that early concept art would Anders' end if he would lose everything. He doesn't want to hurt anyone anymore but himself. Hawke isn't a reason to turn on Justice/Vengeance. Hawke sacrificed him/herself, not killed by someone. So: if they would bring back Justice/Anders like some raging abomination, I would be very angry. By the way, according to Gaider, Justice's presence can slow down the taint's effects and slowly eliminate this. So: Justice absolutely not only bad thing. I would like to see, the symbiosis can works – like Flemeth–Mythal. This is also a darker version, than the Avvar separation, always a risk, but still interesting. Everyone has his own story with Anders. Let him peace with Hawke. Snarky Anders:Sebastian: I just want to say that I'm proud of the restraint you showed here. Anders: I'm not a monster. I'm not going to turn into a raging abomination every time someone commits a fashion faux-pas. Sebastian: I meant not taking advantage of a captive audience to proselytize about the fate of mages. But the other thing is good, too. Anders: You owe me fifty silvers. Isabela: You were cheating! Anders: So were you! Isabela: You had supernatural help. Anders: Excuses! Just admit it. I beat you at your own game. Isabela: Ugh. Anders: Fifty silvers.

After learning more about spirits in novels and DAI, I think Bioware took the "easy" way out with Justice by showing signs of corruption and "vengeance" where as no aspect or emotion can exist purely in the real world like it can in the fade. For a while Cole thought he was helping by killing. This is similar, perhaps more complex because Justice is simply more complex than Compassion.
In a black and white world where nothing matters but Justice, Chantry must be completely eliminated for what they did to mages. This is of course not the case as there are so many details that should be considered. But in the fade its much simpler.
Oh what I would have given to have Anders meet Solas and for Solas to help them co-exist. The issue of abominations was largely dropped in DAI which was rather disappointing...

The song used in this video is very fitting for Anders. Every lyric and every word is perfect.

Made me rethink possession and abominations in the DA universe. I wonder what would happen if Anders spent some time among the Avvar? - Also, I'm sure everyone here has already seen this but it's worth posting again as it's so thematic and well-edited and always gets me in the mood for DA2 drama.

Anders should be more open-minded. For example toward Merrill. The problem's he's too Andrastian Circle Mage (I know is weird, but true), and has his own prejudices and limitation. But as Hawke said before his personal quest (if cares about him): he has no problem with Justice in the last three years. So: Anders/Justice able to learn to live together, just have to question more and more the Circle's dogmas. It could be hard: he spend almost two decades in the Circle, and his parents were Andrastians too: his father from Andersfels, one of the most faitful country in Thedas. His faith is shaken, but too hard to get rid of everything... Don't forget FleMyth. We know: Mythal, the Protector is God of Justice – but the legends tell us: she acted as Vengeance as well.

I really liked what we got with the Avvar in Jaws of Hakkon, though. Made me rethink possession and abominations in the DA universe. I wonder what would happen if Anders spent some time among the Avvar? Someone did a short fic about Hawke and Anders going to the Avvar to help him be more at peace with Justice. I love that idea. They're probably done with the Avvar (sadly), but the Rivaini have a similar approach to talking to spirits and possession, given that it's close to Tevinter, I hope they include that in 4. The issue of abominations was largely dropped in DAI which was rather disappointing... I think Jaws of Hakkkon and some of the stuff Solas said were more like course correction. If Justice was really twisted then he (and Anders) would have transformed physically into a demon (at least when attacked). And Vengeance would not have allowed his host to be killed like that, he would have fought like Grandin's Rage demon.

If Justice was really twisted then he (and Anders) would have transformed physically into a demon (at least when attacked). And Vengeance would not have allowed his host to be killed like that, he would have fought like Grandin's Rage demon. Oh damn. You are right. Its been a while since I played Jaws of Hakkon. So I think its safe to assume Justice went through what Cole was going through when he first came to the waking world. But maybe he was close to getting twisted as well, due to killing (or almost killing) an innocent mage. That was neither Justice nor Vengeance, but a complete lack of control.
