Because it's stupid to present only half of sexual desire. They do not specifically represent sexual desire, they represent lust - the desire for the ephemeral, be that love, respect, belonging, authority, etc. Because sexual desire is an easy visual symbol for lust. As you said, all the other demons are based on visual metaphors. Well, you seem to be getting your wish. No doubt DA4 will continue to take the “safe” road.

Have no issue if they want to show a desire demon that's using a male form. As Nightscrawl suggests i think its way to problematic for it to be aimed at PC However they could easily have a scene similar to the Templar in the Circle in DAO.

I want DA4 to have interesting characters.
If you mean do I want tits and ass, those are always welcome but not in place of personality.

That DAO scene was a really interesting one and executed well, I think. I wouldn't mind more of that.

Oh please, if they wanted to make a desire demon that was an euphemism for lust, they'd just model a giant penis demon. No need for a sexy chick, just a penis monster. But they specifically went the succubus sexy lady route, and it's obvious why.
Also it's a fact that male desire demons are a thing in canon nevertheless, or '' male presenting '' whatever, and one's sexuality most likely shapes what form they take.

I always forget about that line from Dorian because it's such a throwaway, and of course you have to bring him on the mission to hear it. Considering Dorian clearly uses "he," I'd say one's sexuality definitely shapes what form they take.

Maybe because I keep taking Dorian in all of my playthroughs and I used to watch those '' all DA:I banter '' videos before going to bed when I was still completely fanatical about DA:I lmao. But yeah, regardless, male bodied desire demon's are a thing. Unless the desire demon was just inhabiting a human body, then idk.

Unless the desire demon was just inhabiting a human body, then idk. Well he says it was in the Fade, so no possession there. In fact, it tried to possess Dorian! Which would of course allow it to roam about in the mortal world.

I'm one of those that voted no just for spite. This debate seems to always stem from the opinion that Cassandra is not attractive in the stereotypical sense (long hair, revealing clothing, perfect skin, demure personality, etc) therefore she is ugly and a poor choice for a potential romance. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is cliche as hell, but it's true. Personally, I found Cassandra attractive because she did not fit that stereotype. Instead, her personality is the most appealing aspect to me. She's strong, she's firm in her beliefs but also flexible and level-headed enough to question those beliefs and even accept concepts that directly contradict them. Her hair, her armor, even her scar are testaments to her strength, sensibility and voraciousness in battle. Even IB praises her choice in armor for practical reasons.Maybe I'm the odd one out because two of my favorite characters happens to be a golem and a bald elf; one of my least favorite characters is a witch with her breasts spilling out of her bikini top.

The only time I could understand not really liking how Cassandra looks is in the epilogue slides. She looked super butch and swole in those.
But looking at her concept art, her tarot cards and her ingame model, she looks like a high fashion super model, and she is incredibly feminine outside of her voice being a bit deep and her haircut.
But I'm not the one romancing the women, so I have no interest or need to dictate what the female characters should be like. I totally think the straight/bi female romance in next game should look like a huge titty elf stripper instagram thot if that's what men want. I don't care as long as she keeps her hands off me lmao.

But there isn't a consensus on what [straight] men want, just as there isn't one for straight women or gay men or lesbians. There are plenty of men who like both Cassandra and Josephine's looks. There are men who like Cora as well. I've seen men be all over the idea of being carried away by a buff qunari woman LI; I highly doubt that Mr. Skull Overlay would find that appealing in the least. The problem is that happy people usually don't come on the forums to rave about how happy they are, whereas the unhappy people are all fired up about it and want to vent their spleen to someone, anyone, who will listen.

You are never going to get 100% consensus but you can clearly see all around us what a large portion of straight men consider conventionally beautiful. There are always going to be outliers in terms of taste but it seems sensible to have at least one romance aimed somewhat closer to that heartland than certainly inquisition offered.

Putting aside warrior-woman Cassandra with scars and short hair, can you explain exactly what is wrong with Josephine? I don't see how she can be deemed unattractive by any standard. A real woman with her looks would absolutely be TV/film worthy.

Why isn't your opinion an outlier, just as you claim of those men who do like her (and Cassandra)? As for the rest, this is primarily about physical attributes, and your post was about that, so the content of her romance is inconsequential to this discussion.

And in terms of Dragon Age, I don't think they've done horrendously in any installment. Though I AM raising my eyebrow at 4 straight female romances in Inquisition.

Yeah I can't really say what is wrong with Josephine appearance wise. To me, she looks and sounds like to girliest, most feminine woman in the entirety of Dragon Age, maybe even in any Bioware game. There are like no '' mannish '' features to her at all, unlike some other characters that are toted as Dragon Age/Mass Effect sex symbols...

I think Blackwall should have been bi. It's hard to say how popular he would have been among gay men, but I think it would have helped to give them another option because as much as I love Dorian's character, the sassy gay BFF is overplayed, and Iron Bull has the BDSM angle, which can be off putting. I know it doesn't mean much, but I saw a poll once where most straight women picked either Cullen or Solas, but Blackwall was popular among the gay men in the poll. Again, I know it doesn't mean much and it was an internet poll.
