I think the main issue is that the other studios (CDPR, Rockstar, "old Bioware") put out great games (The Witcher, RDR2, Mass Effect) while "new Bioware" put out, well, Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem So because they don't like the game is why they are standing up for the employees and not because the employees are being treated poorly? If that is the case makes it hard for me to side with people taking that approach. I'm not saying it's OK in one case and not OK in the other, I say, as an employee who is used to crunch time (15 years in software development, sometimes working 8AM to 3AM, and I mean 3AM not 3PM, to push out a release, then sleeping a few hours, and getting back to work at 8AM barely 5 hours later to deal with the first users), it's easier to deal with crunch time when you release something nice and get congratulations from the users and boss, than when you release something buggy and criticized by the majority And if I'm not clear (english isn't my mother tongue), I agree the type of hours I did at work to release products aren't "legal", at least in my country, and shouldn't be imposed to a human, either it's a developer, engineer, doctor, machinist, ...

I am not making the accusation that is how you personally feel and never read your post that way, but the way I read your comment is the only reason why the online posters are upset at BioWare now is because they didn't like the games and when it happened in the past it was okay because they liked the games. I also have plenty of those type of experiences especially the years around Y2K or when I am working under contract since working IT can be a hectic work schedule as well.

17 hour days are brutal. I have done a few of them in my day, longest at 22hrs, but usually we keep it to 12 or less.
However, that is at least 5 days a week, and often includes Saturday work and sometimes Sunday.
I have worked 23 days in a row for the sake of the movie, and my life has suffered for it. However, I was paid "well" for that extra time thanks to contracts that provide for overtime, meal penalties, forced calls, 6th and 7th day rates, etc. A Union made those contracts, and although they backslide every year and give away more of our lives for pennies on the dollar with every new ASA, our work environment would be more exploitative without their organization.
Any job that requires "crunch" should have some sort of organized labor. But that comes with some evils, I will admit. I don't cry like the devs do though when we get crunched, so take that into consideration.

In Germany, working more than 48 hours a week is illegal. So, if you work 10 hours for 5 days, that's already a problem UNLESS you get to take these 2 hours off within a certain time frame. Certain shift work allows for more than that, but again, the employer must provide time off to balance it out within the year at the very latest. So that on average you worked no more than 48h a week.
Of course off the record overtime happens all the time. But by law, employees are protected. At my company, all overtime has to get approved by our works council. Any non approved overtime by your own choosing is so strict that more than an hour a MONTH is not allowed. Our contract working time is 37.5. So, even if we wanted to work more for the extra cash, we wouldn't be allowed to.

You work for EA, you get sacked eventually.
What has been EA's biggest non-Sports team? Maxis probably. Those were basically shut down and re-launched as an EA studio that has put Sims on a Retirement plan.
At best EA closes the BioWare label and maybe a dozen people from BioWare Edmonton will go work somewhere else in EA while others continue to go to Impropable and various candaian Ubisoft studios.

Sorry Bioware but I'm done giving you the benefit of my support you have betrayed me twenty times over with the way your handling this game called Anthem you have a very long way to go to at least regain my trust not that it matters to you.

We can do the DA4 game ourselves if BioWare keels over before it is released. After all people like us saved Firefly. Love keep things flying!
Look at the number of members this site has. Between all of us there is bound to be oodles of knowledge, creativity and talent. We can totally pull it off.

mmogfails.blogspot.com/2019/04/bioware-as-we-know-it-right-now-is-done.html?m=1Not sure who the source is or if it's even remotely credible, but on the offchance it is, this is worth a read. A year ago this would have upset me, but frankly I now think there's zero chance of the studio correcting course, and it's best to open the possibility of shifting the IPs and ground-level talent to better managed studios within EA's portfolio (Respawn, maybe). if there really are talks about reorganizing the studio, it does explain the conduct of the employees lately.

It would hardly be surprising if ea are taking action after being burned twice by bioware. Reviewing/restructuring could be positive if it actually sorts out their project management issues but could clearly be negative if it’s the final nails into sp rpg focus.

Lol, a BSN developed DA. This forum couldn't even agree what color the sky is, let alone develop a game. Plus if the majority got its way the game would be better off being called Barney & Friends rather than DA4.

It would take some work, and also it would have to be run as an actual project. But it is possible to do. All it takes is a group of dedicated people. And okay, not every member can have a say what goes into the game. But if we form a group that was willing to collaborate, it is possible to do.
Just saying. It is something to consider at least.

Just saying. It is something to consider at least. Bioware games are made by teams of hundreds of people, production costs millions of dollars and right to the series belong to EA.
Also, besides dedication, you also need skill and I doubt there's as many as 10 people here that know anything about game development.
I assume you're very young

Not THAT young.lol I have written text-based multi-choice games with ChoiceScript and I've made an open world survival/explorer game using Unity so I have some experience in developing games both solo and with other people. But for a project like this I would use the DA Toolkit. I've seen some of the stuff people have made using it and it would more than suffice. After all, we all, or at least most of us, fell in love with DA:O not because it had shiny graphic and a flashy combat-system but because it allowed us to become a part of an amazing story. That takes writing and I can write.
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. And somewhere there's moders lurking that could help with the technical stuff.

Obviously I wouldn't sell it or earn any money from it. I would post it on Nexus mods. You can download and play fan-made adventures from there. A DA4-game wouldn't have to be any different.
I think BW released the Toolkit just so fans could make their own content for DA:O so I'm not sure they would mind all that much if I did just that.

Mods aren't games. Once you go out and declare you're making a game you'll be treading a fine line. Just ask the Star Wars game fans that got cockblocked by Disney and EA. They might have a couple of wisdoms to share.
