Yeah, I agree with a fair bit of the video--the concept sounds great, I like the idea of it, but the prices for everything is a little hard to swallow, the online system sounds atrocious, and even the initial game lineup doesn't sound great. Like, this is the first Zelda game I'm kind of tempted to play, I could maybe see myself trying out Mario if someone else has it, and Arms looks like it could be fun to play in multiplayer, but that's about it. I feel like it could be good, it has potential (I never thought of the potential indie market for it), but it's definitely going to be more of a Birthday/Christmas thing for me, if I even buy it at all. As for Andromeda showing up on the Switch--yeah, that seems next to impossible, considering what they're talking about in terms of gameplay, without some massive downgrades. Hell, I'm not even sure if Inquisition is possible--after all, the stated reason Bioware didn't port The Descent and Trespasser to 360/PS3 was that those systems couldn't handle it. I think at most, if they ever decide to remaster the Mass Effect original trilogy, that seems doable to port on the Switch--and the idea of having one of my favorite franchises available to me on the go is pretty tempting. Yeah, IMO, Nintendo needs to stop with the gimmicks and stop using obsolete technology (32GB of storage space? In 2017?) if they want to be taken seriously as a home console developer. Not since the SNES have they had a console that actually beat the competition in terms of performance, and that was 25 years ago.

Even to this day, Resident Evil 4 has never looked better on anything else but the Gamecube. That console was some of the best Nintendo dished out, plenty of good games on it too.

False, GC was superior then PS2 in tech. Except for optical disc capacity. Which was only a problem for multiplat games(which was a problem and no one can deny that) but exclusive games like Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, Rogue squadron or games that where built with the GC in mind like REmake or RE4(which saw an awful PS2 port that was heavily compromised to make it run on the system)where technical marvels in that gen and to this day, are still held in high regard and showed what the GC was truly able to do coming close to the xboxs best stuff. Each system that gen had its advantage which is undeniable but in terms of the overall package, it goes Xbox>GC>PS2>DC. Plus the GC controller is still to this date, one of the best controllers ever made.

Not since the SNES have they had a console that actually beat the competition in terms of performance, and that was 25 years ago. Here's what happened. They built the Switch on the cheap. It would've only cost a little more per console for acceptable storage space. But no, they built it on the cheap. Then they charge an arm and a leg for it, and even more for their accessories. $80 for another set of Joycons, are you kidding me? It is OBVIOUS that they are trying to make up for their WiiU losses. What they SHOULD have done: Made an affordable version of the Switch with acceptable storage space. Sell tons. Make up losses later.

Really, I just can't ignore the Déjà vu feeling of this being a Dreamcast 2.0. This is a terrible position to be in for a company Does not help that Nintendo keeps fucking up and is failing to sell me the system.

Don't strawman, the only competition that beat Nintendo in overall tech and by extension performance was MS that gen, not Sony. So yes it did beat one of it's competitors.

Well I'm excited about the Switch. I like all it's gimmicks look intriguing. I might buy the console but probably not at it's launch. I want to see how the game library will grow for that thing

Even when graphical fidelity and low memory size were console issues( N64 versus PS1 specs are a fair example), a cheaper price point from competing consoles was generally an advantage for nintendo. I think Breath of the Wild looks really good, Mario looks a bit bonkers but entertaining, and Splatoon 2 is great if you missed the first or really hunger for that sort of game. But I'm not spending near $400 to get the full package. The mobile feature doesn't hold any allure for me, but there's clearly a market for pure mobile devices and Nintendo's got a respectable and long-running history with them. Selling Switch as a pure On-The-Go device is a smart move, assuming they can set something like that up before Nintendo fans bring out the pitchforks. Really good idea.

How many people here actually play on this console?
I don't have one, but it certainly looks interesting. It's a shame that it is underpowered compared to other hardware, but the portability element is awesome. I hope they bring over games like Pillars of Eternity (although the ideal way to play would be on a PC, I know). I'd also love to see some Supergiant Games stuff on there.

Thing with Nintendo is they have great first party exclusives, and with Switch I’ve been getting such a steady stream of great content I haven’t turned on my PC in months. It’s funny reading some of these older comments complaining Nintendo’s hardware decisions because they’re all true, but despite those limitations the system is selling really well. I know not everyone can afford to buy more than one system, but to avoid Switch because of the hardware is just silly to me especially considering if you’re are interested in the software. Take XC2. Its my GOTY, but it has some graphical isssues. I didn’t buy a 360 for hd games and Live, I bought it to play Mass Effect.

I'm a bit confused as to why Nintendo still aren't addressing the whole lack of a virtual console on the switch. I hope they talk about it soon.

It does seem like they are making up for the Wii-U with more engaging exclusive titles now, also third party support but the third party support backfires due to the immense storage capacity they require.

I'm actually really enjoying my switch thus far. I don't have an SD card for it yet, and It'll be a while before I get one for it. I'm also, only playing zedla on it. But I"m enjoying the game so much, that I'm glad I spent the money for the thing.
Its also really portable. you might think 'well duh', but I mean I brought it with me last night, to a hotel room. Purley because the weather was bad, and I didn't want to drive the 36 ish miles home. And I was able to play zelda, in the hotel room, w/out worrying about lugging a big thing around, or losing progress.
Normally, I'd have brought my gaming laptop with me. But, sadly, I needed to prioritize clothes over fun. And, the switch still let me have fun, while I was away from home. All in a light weight package.
Its pricey, don't I know it, but last night and tonight, I have a game system I can bring with me on the fly. So I'm happy I bought the thing thus far.

I hope they bring over games like Pillars of Eternity (although the ideal way to play would be on a PC, I know). I'd also love to see some Supergiant Games stuff on there. I own a Switch and I really enjoy it so far. Bought it together with MK8 Deluxe because I do not own a Wii U, and it is a great party console to game with your friends. Still don't have Zelda but when it comes to singleplayer games I can really recommend Mario Odyssey, a great platformer in every way. The portability of the console is great, especially when you use suitable public transport (like trains), don't have a single place for the console to dock because you travel a lot or visit friends often. Several of my friends have a Switch as well and they can easily bring their consoles here to play some games. There are several impressive titles already but the game library is unfortunately quite limited so far though. However, Nintendo has already announced several very interesting titles, the console has quite strong third party support and several unannounced titles are practically a given, like Smash. All in all, the Switch has pleasantly surprised me. I was afraid that this would again be a gimmick console without any third party support like the Wii U, but it does not seem to be the case at all. I am already hyped for several titles due for release in 2018 and am looking forward to the addition of a proper online environment. If you like Zelda and/or Mario, I would buy it now. If that's not the case, I would wait until later this month. They often release a new Direct detailing upcoming releases in January, so that can give you a good picture about what to expect in the near future.

Looks like the Switch is getting 'Night in the Woods', which is apparently a pretty good game.
I'm still hoping for some great RPG titles...I know it has Skyrim now, but it would be neat to see more classics.
