Was running Tyrant Mine with my buddy, planned to farm it for a few hours more after this first one. Instead this fun glitch happened and I was disconnected back to the main menu after a couple minutes. I logged back in and opted to rejoin the mission. Prior to this happening I had 4 Masterwork items picked up. One from one of the Legendary Scar Scouts right at the beginning, one off a Legendary Scar Hunter that spawns before silencing the first relic, one from the Gatekeeper at the second relic, and one from the first chest. Plus the usual myriad of purple Epic and blue Rare drops on top of all that. When we finished the mission I received twelve items. Twelve. Only one Masterwork in all, and it was dropped by the boss. The second chest gave me three Epic and two Rare items (instant salvage) so no Masterwork there. I double checked to confirm by popping into the Forge after the mission, still just the one new Masterwork (which I salvaged after comparing to my current copy). I really enjoy this game and want to fall in love with it. Unfortunately, shit like this pisses me off. Playing Mass Effect 3 multiplayer for years, playing World of Tanks Console for years, playing Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer for years, I think I’ve just lost my tolerance and patience for bullshit. I shut down my PS4 and went back to my Xbox to start playing Dragon Age Inquisition instead.
Yeah, respawning is seeeeeriously unoptimised right now.
It's almost as if... they rushed to meet customer demands because of high pressure, without being given the time to properly finish the feature. Might just be an impression, though.
My favorite respawning fracas is in legendary contracts where you're spawned like half a map away after a long loading screen. You sigh. You start flying, and just as you're aaaalllmost there, you get the 8-second team join timer. And just before you reach the area, it teleports you (whilst screaming "nnnoooooooo") actually FURTHER AWAY then you were already, but still right in the middle of an enemy group.
It is at this point that I stopped bothering with respawning unless it's really necessary.
Or that time I was stuck behind a see-through barrier in heart of rage and I had to watch my friends get slaughtered one by one without being able to help them.
Or that time where the you are dead message wouldn't dissapear once I was revived, and I had to play the rest of the mission with the red triangle on my scren (couldn't see where I was aiming, lol).
Or that time when I respawned at the tyrant mine boss, but the door wouldn't be able to be opened, so I had to die again and again until the door became openable.

Always blame the players! It's all their fault.
P.S. Don't mention the 6 years. I did it once, but I think I got away with it.

Actually, I meant that as: They need to be strong enough to withstand such pressure and tell us to wait until it's done.
seriously though: this pisses me off royally as well... BioWare "owes" me over a 100 Embers (Sigils I equipped but then: the server or whatever couldn't retrieve the pilot data and I got booted back into the basement )

Surely your smart enough to understand that it's a catch 22 as far as this goes.
Everyone wants All Of The Things fixed right now this second, or else, basically.
So what, realistically are their options at this point? Rush it out to try and appease the mob at their door, or ignore the mob as the anger builds to make sure it gets fixed "properly". Either way, they are going to get shit on. Either way people will call them incompatent hacks.
Yes, it's fairly apparent that Bioware, from a design perspective, was basically fumbleing around in the dark for 6 years trying to figure out what to do. We'll probably never really know all the chaos, or reboots or overhauls or whatever else may have happend during that time. Yes, they should have had a better plan, they should have used those 6 years more wisely. It seems fairly apparent that they spent those 6 years in a Bubble from a development perspective, and if they didn't I would be shocked. But those 6 years are in the past, and harping on those 6 years now, at this point, will not change anything.
What matters now, is how Bioware goes about fixing the damage, and improving the product as is. In my mind the entire Loot system should be the #1 Priority for Bioware right now. It is frankly the most ridiculously designed system I maybe have ever seen in a game. It needs a complete rework from the ground up, imo. A Loot 2.0 if you will. Such an effort would require time. Possibly months. Now me personally, I would rather they take those months and finally get it right, once and for all, rather than rush some frankensteined togeather change to appease the angry mob outside. I hope that is why Chad said it would take a few months, because in their own words. They are not happy with the Loot system either.
That said, changes in the here and now still need to be addressed. Several of them. But if you want true improvement of quality, you must give it a bit of time, even for the here and now changes. Otherwise you get the problems they have now. Everyone is so eager to say the patches aren't working because Bioware is just not talented enough to fix things....But it is very important to note, no other Developer pushes patches out this quickly. It takes Bungie months to drop patches for example. My point is, I don't think ANY developer would have the god-tier talent required, to pump out flawless patches at the rate they are going. If anything Bioware is dropping too many patches, in their effort to appease people. Because if half the stuff in every patch does not work correctly, that tells me the patch isn't ready for release.
People around here love to throw around CDPR's "When it's Ready" as the standard all developers should live by, ignoring how totally impossible that is for 99% of Developers. (also ignoring how utterly littered with glitches CDPR games are day 1) The reality is, some of those same people, sit here and scream how Bioware needs to basically do a complete game overhaul and it needs to be ready right this second or else. No one around here is willing to wait for changes to come out "when it's ready". They want changes right now. Then when they get those changes right now, they complain even louder, because the changes weren't ready.
It's honestly a hysterical circus act, like watching monkeys ride a unicycle. Every game for the past 7 years has been "The beginning of the end" for Bioware. Every game for the past 7 years has been Bioware "circling the drain". Hell for some people around here, they've been "Dying and just not knowing it" since ME1. These people are not Bioware fans, and frankly imo never was. No, they were fans of 1 or 2 particular games that Bioware just happend to have made. I'm sorry but that is just the truth of it. No one can say logically say they are a fan of something, and sit around for 10 years or longer, saying that thing you are a fan of, is dead, devoid of talent, corporate shills and most importantly HOPING SAID STUDIO DIES because they aren't doing the thing you want them to be doing, and whatever other label people around here throw around. Yes, a fan is allowed to be critical, in fact I think being critical is a requirement to being a true fan. Because people who just mindlessly sing praises and try to shut down ALL forms of critism, is not a fan either imo, that is a sheep. But at the end of the day, this is a fan forum, for fans. This is a place for fans of Bioware, to talk in a calm, reasonable, respectful manner about their fandom. Everyone will have different opinions, and everyone will have complaints about something. But this is suppose to be a place where those things can be discussed in a reasonable manner, and not constantly trying to shout each other down because you just HAVE to be the one whose right. Everyone knows who these people are, because it's the same exact group of people that it's been for almost 10 years across the BSN. Honestly at this point, I seriously question why this group of people is still here. Other than to make other people around here miserable. You've been disatisifed and miserable with Biowares product for 10 years at least. Logically, if a studio has gone that long without satisfying you, then you move on, not sit around like a jilted ex shouting DOOM at everyone else who still DARES to enjoy Biowares product. I'm sorry that Bioware apparently no longer provides content that you enjoy, I know that feeling all too well these past 7 years. But seriously, if your that unhappy with the product? Do yourself a favor, and free yourself from this cycle of bitterness and find another forum that does not constantly remind you of disappointment.
seriously though: this pisses me off royally as well... BioWare "owes" me over a 100 Embers (Sigils I equipped but then: the server or whatever couldn't retrieve the pilot data and I got booted back into the basement )
Try switching guns. I hear this might update your pilot data.

Guess I didn't get away with the 6 years mentioning (a meme by this point) 😁 Only took that little to trigger such a desperate rant.
And the loot is just a small part of the problem. The gear scaling, inscriptions, all the mechanics in there seem broken in the core. By now it should be clear this can't be fixed by simple patching. It's either a FFXIV overhaul or nothing. And EA is not known to do such overhauls. So we are stuck with what we have. I accepted it, most players have accepted it too and it's time even the white knights accept it. But this doesn't mean we should stop making fun of Bioware's epic (pun intended) blunder. That way they can keep blaming the players for everything.

The scaling, the inscriptions, all of that, is all ultimately part of the horrific loot system. Which as I mentioned, is a complete disaster. And if you consider my above post "desperate"? Then all I can do is laugh, laugh at the fact you find a call for civility and respect for each other a "desperate rant". It also tells me your not really interested in discussion, your interested in "being right".

not sure what you mean... how can I switch my gun when I don't load into the mission at all?! I choose the mission, difficulty, equip sigils (=one time consumables), matchmaking starts, the server finds a match for me, loading screen, more loading screen and then back to the basement (where you start when you first load into the game) with the message: failed to retrieve pilot data...

If you get a pilot data error it may be best to close down the game (even Origin) and then start again. Otherwise the error seems to linger with a chance to happen every time you get to a loading screen.
Doesn't help, tried. At least with the custom appearance you can notice if the error is incoming at the mission start and switch to your second weapon to fix it.

Hmm, not so sure they can't fix it by patching. I mean, they did emphasize that they designed the game as such to make it very easy to plug in new stuff. Although it will be one mighty huge [patch, I reckon
I'm kinda real curious for in a year. How will anthem fare then? How different will it be? If I were to fast forward, would I be shocked as to how it looks compared to now? Curious.

It really depends what they meant by "new stuff". It's clear they can activate new events in Freeplay without patching. Maybe it's easy to add missions and such.
But! What I am talking about is the core design of the loot system, the core of the gear scaling and the core of the math that makes the gear stats work. That usually is so deeply designed into the game that you can patch it's behavior to some variables, but not really change it.
For example - using no Support item boosts your damage. Bioware will patch the variable for damage to include the fact you lack a Support item, but they most likely can't patch the fact that your damage is linked to your overall gear rating. Which means they probably can't really fix the issue that even a crappy Legendary gives a better boost than a great Masterwork. And this makes worthless every stat and number crunching meta.
Then the loot drop rates seem to depend on weird things like Luck (how and if it works is a mystery) and possibly the average group gear rating again. Bioware may be able to tweak the numbers, but not the connection.
This is why I think a complete reboot of the core mechanics might be the only way to see real changes. But that is equal to making a whole new game.

I may be a simpleton, but I fail to see how changing the formula of damage to something else is not something patchable. Even if it is deeply embedded, whether the pc calculates value X by multiplying with Y or Z, the pc does not care. But i know nothing of game design. It greatly depends on how flexible they created their damage formula.
Of course, this is technically. I'm saying nothing about the whole meta of balancing. That's... somethign else entirely.

The scaling seems flexible and might account for non-intended behaviours. The damage system isn't rigid as in 300 dmg on label (of gun e.g.) might not deal 300 dmg in game based on your gear, some average, maybe teammates and whathaveyou variable that might affect the scaling. Of course it's patcheable, but the more variables determine damage dealt, the harder balancing is.
However, if you build such a flexible system, I suppose you also build to tweak and balance it. It's just more complicated and probably more prone to bugs.

Holy shit TL;dr
Holy shit, TL;dr. Would have been a waste of time anyway. I skimmed long enough to be called a monkey.
And no saandrig, you didn't get away with it! How dare you?!
I'll go further - I think, from the top down, BioWare is a shell of its former self and every position across the company has been downgraded. Thus, we have talent flight. The boss is a former writer that ruined the best franchise they had with surprisingly few pen strokes. His number one lackey gets to be lead writer. The Watamaniuks can only do so much...
Have I mentioned that they're dead and we're just watching the death throes?
All those who believe in psychokinesis raise my hand.

Ok stop the bullshit.
You are the one that isn't interested in a conversation here. You tell me that I'm not a real BioWare fan, despite not being accurate about any reasoning behind the claim. You then name call an entire group. And somehow you think that was a "call for civility and respect?"
Seriously dude, what are you on? It has to be some good shit, and I'm interested in it. However, make sure it doesn't cause permanent retardation.

As the OP's fair rant has descended into the usual bickering, I think we're done here.
