I would be less upset by this than I would be by the return of the Inquisitor, but no.

I feel this thread still lacks one meme in particular With that out of the way, I guess it would never work out right. Hawke was a far more strictly defined character overall and their cameo was not pulled of too well. Apart from the limited possibilities to reproduce the facemorph (due to completely different engine), up to the point that the iconic female preset is almost impossible, we got Hawke viciously condemning Blood Magic at every possible turn, regardless of the choices we made in DA2, including a certain specialisation. So a Blood Mage Hawke either turns into incoherency stew or an utter hypocrite.
A good way to bring back the Hero is to remaster DAO. But no to having the Hero return in the next DA game This.
On the other hand, I've still got much to do in the original game. Like piecing together the perfect Dalish mage origin, including adjusted dialogues.

I remember Patrick chiming in on this a few years back... "The honest answer is, I wouldn’t want to go back to the Hero of Ferelden. I think the hero had a freaking awesome story — you had chance to die heroically, or you had chance to survive and ride off into the sunset with their lover.
But remember when you all asked for Hawke to come back, how are you people feeling about that now? So i’d say be careful what you wish for. If we brought the hero back, I'm not sure it would be a happy story."Was Hawke's return in DA:I really received that badly? I actually thought it was done pretty well. I liked their appearance.
That said, I wouldn't really want the HoF to appear in that way. Mainly because they weren't voiced, so all of a sudden, they'd have to get some voice I might not like or which might not fit. I also think it would be tougher to give them dialogue, aproriate to the personality you roleplayed in DA:O. Hawke kinda came down to 3 options, kind, aggressive or sarcastic. That was manageable but with all the dialogue options in Origins, you could go for much more character nuance which would probably get lost in a cameo.
And I think Patrick is right, the HoF had a very definitive ending (which wasn't the case for Hawke, for whom it made perfect sense to get involved again in the Mage/Templar conflict).
I do hope we'll meet the Inquisitor again in the next game though. Especially if the story goes in the direction they hinted at with the teaser last year, the Inquisitor should be involved in some shape or form.

I would bring the Warden back, just to piss off people real hard to be honest, it would be amusing to see the shitstorm. Well more likely the apocalypse to be realistic.

I just want confirmation on whether s/he found the cure for the Calling or not. We'll probably need to deal with the Black City in DA4. Who knows we even need the cure after that?

No. Don't bring back the Hero of Ferelden, or any other previous protagonist. It never goes well. Leave them and their stories alone. Well lets not be hasty. The inquisitor is awesome and with some blood magic he/she could get their arm back bigger and stronger. As for whether the hero of ferelden ever gets back I would prefer they didn't have us see them but something like they did in inquisition.

Does anyone care? Is anyone who cares about the hero of Ferelden left? It will be 14 years ago, by the time of DA4's release and no other Dragon Age title had them in any significant extent to be even relevant that many years later. So who will even give a fuck, at that point?

So who will even give a fuck, at that point? Says the person constantly going on about how Shepard needs to come back. I'm not arguing the irony behind this. But the Hero of Ferelden and Shepard aren't on the same league. Sure, the hero is important, the first DA PC, but they were only there for one title and, arguably, for the expansion. I didn't build them over three games. Same for Hawke and the Inquisitor. I've no vested interest in them and I didn't like them much, either. And even as I've said before, it's not Shepard singularly, per se, but its who comes along with him and that could only be accessible through him, the whole package, whereas there is no such limitation to Dragon Age where anyone left alive, or not, can turn up at any point, at any time.

I am happy not seeing my Hero of Ferelden again but I would like them to confirm whether or not they found a cure in the west and why exactly they though they might find one there in the first place. Sending them off to some vague far flung destination in search of a cure was a pretty flimsy excuse for why they weren't affected by the shenanigans with the Wardens in DAI but then to have them return if romanced by Leliana and still not have an explanatory codex about what was behind their actions was rather irritating. Meanwhile, those not romanced by Leliana are apparently still out there somewhere. So I'd appreciate a letter or codex tying up the loose ends.

Magic for everyone, and about nuking the world, well, it's not like the games had entirely consistent look either, so it would be just another world redesign.

As much as I love my Wardens, I prefer let them be. I'd like some mentions? Yes. A letter from old LIs telling they are together and fine somewhere far away would be enought for me. I'd love to know if they have found a cure for the tainting, tho. Would be a cute thing if, in a game set quite a bit in the future, there is a mission searching for the cure and is found in the papers left by our Wardens.

I wouldn't mind playing the warden/hawk/ as main protagonist in the next game. Bioware could give it as an option, start as The warden, start as hawk or start as a new hero, that would be so awesome!! I played inquisitor never made pass lvl 9.. bleh

I would not go as far as to say nuking Thedas is great, but the magic must come back. Everything that annoys the Chantry is good things in my book. If I had to guess I’d say the Veil is almost certainly going to be at the very least mostly pulled down, based on the various prophecies and foreshadowing since DA2, but the damage will likely be mitigated somehow, or maybe dependent on choices in the game. Personally I’m so down for that, a revamp of the world into a Fade-Thedas hybrid would be very interesting, and magic becoming commonplace could be cool. Possibly in future titles everyone will use magic and class will dictate more the means by which it’s channeled.
