Rather than just continually make sweeping generalized statements of your opinion (that you have even contradicted yourself on since Liam was apparently less well received than Peebee even by you), please factually back up your statements with the raw survey data that you feel would be appropriate here. Jacob was certainly not as polarizaring as Miranda Lawson for example, not many folks hated on him, and yet he was considered as the least liked and the most boring squadmate in absolutely all the polls unlike Miranda who despite all the hatred i've seen from vocal folks on internet ( called Michael Jackson ) was popular with the silent majority. The fact that nobody was vocal about hating on Jacob or despising him, didn't mean he was well liked. You two do realize why Liam and Jacob are the least liked characters.....riiiiight?.....*looks at SYV avatar*.... ..they're bla....ahhh nevermind... media3.giphy.com/media/an9qRijFlThiE/giphy.gif ....haha...j/k...i'm kinda shocked at how folks are kinda fond of Peebee....she was never part of my squad and she was incredibly annoying and her antics should have had her thrown off the ship....I only chose Drack and Vetra as my partners when out on missions...and that is not saying much....Andromeda's characters and overall theme was structured like an old Scooby-Doo cartoon....just bad... I would say them being black played a large part in them being boring or crazy, it put pressure on Bioware to avoid stereotypes. Honestly, I liked being able to play a laid-back character. It's more like my personal style, and Shepard's histrionics were starting to grate on me. So did I. Ryder wasn't Shepard but that was never the intention. In the vein of a new beginning and spirit of adventure, we got a protagonist who fit that theme perfectly. Ryder outright wasn't the person for the job. Ryder had no ability to command. I don't think this is in dispute by anyone. Ryder needed SAM to survive, at least early on. Ryder was more forgiving than natural born leaders like Alec and Shepard. That's just how it is.
I honestly think that had MEA not been branded as the "next" ME game, it would have been better received. Lots of people, at least the ones who were more vocal, wanted Shepard 2.0. They didn't get it. Therefore, it was bad from the start, and would have been even without the graphics problems.
ME is best when it's realistic and gritty. Ryder was a complete miss and didn't fit. The entire Andromeda initiative didn't fit. The fact that this was a project to save the species and it ended up shipping enough criminals that they could start a criminal empire is idiotic. Andromeda deserves to be creamated and never spoken about again

Simple guy to avoid stereotipes. Ey man where the white women at. Jacob is boring. His story is boring. Fits way better on a stay at home over-sheltered kid than some regular dude. He's Kaidan 2.0 painted black and given pimples. 75% of African Americans grow up without a father. There's a stereotype and then there's a fact. I found it endearing.

I think I'm the only person who actually liked Jacob.
Spandex outfit aside, he was pretty much the only "regular guy" on a ship full of over-the-top superheroes.

I liked Jacob OK if I was playing as BroSheip. What I didn't like was the way FemShep talked to him (outside of a relationship)... so I tried a relationship and some of Jacob's lines inside the relationship were really bad... and is the reason I just don't play a FemShep in ME2... which means I don't get to import one in ME3.

I pretty much don't talk to him outside of his loyalty mission after the initial conversation on the Normandy. It's just too awful.

That's what I do. Ignore Taylor throughout the game unless I decide I want to do his loyalty mission.

Well, that's more a FemShep problem than a Jacob problem. I mean when she talks to Garrus she sounds like she wants to tear all his armor off right then and there too.

I mean when she talks to Garrus she sounds like she wants to tear all his armor off right then and there too. Only with the flirt option. With Jacob, it's every option, flirt or not. Just asking to talk to the guy makes femShep sound like a raving sex addict.

well If they use some of my Player Character Ideas, they do fit different themes. C-Sec Officer that deals with a Serial Killer is a very Noir Detective game, Volus Infiltrator would be a Political thriller that deals with someone wanting to disturb the Economy before Reaper war, Turian Havok Soldier would be a Military Themed game that involves finding a Super Weapon. Cerberus Phantom Commander is very gritty and see the nastier sides of both humans and aliens alike.

They may eventually turn over the MET to another studio (like they have with Baldur's Gate). EA never had the rights to Baldur's Gate. Interplay had those and after they went under, I have no idea who got them. Did they go back to WotC? Anyway, I'm completely underwhelmed by the choice of Larian as a developer for BG3. Not to mention that the story was wrapped up quite nicely with ToB, I think. Not that nothing further can't be done or shouldn't, I just don't see the point to it. Well, maybe something new and inspirational will turn up from it, though I highly doubt it. Larian's choice of writing is ... interesting, let's just say. Yeah, we'll go with that.

Also, Baldur's Gate 3 is going to be set over a century after BG2 and use 5E rules, so it's pretty safe to say it will be a totally separate story and have nothing at all to do with the Bhaalspawn's tale, save in geography. After DOS2, I've got a good feeling. They make the kind of games Bioware used to.

You can also play through the suicide mission without a biotic for the barrier. Jack is killed because no armor upgrade and Samara isn't recruited. Miranda is the one to mention about using a barrier.

I figure that since she volunteers even when Samara suggests it, but is her dialogue sensitive to the fact that you don't have a tech expert or does she still mention that they need a tech expert after Jacob volunteers for the vents?

FWIW - the best way to avoid FemShep going ridiculously sultry is to simply avoid general conversations with Jacob once aboard the Normandy. Once the notice for the LM conversation comes up, you can talk with him about that specifically and keep it professional. All of the conversations with Garrus are friendly/professional, so long as you don't select a flirt line.
