I see no problem with a sample size of one thousand players. Political surveys over here often work with the same numbers and then publish the results as representative. Personal anecdote: I have about a dozen real life friends that are gamers, all of them on PC. No one had heard of Anthem. Everyone knew The Division and Warframe. Are you seriously comparing this to a randomised population study? The inclusion criterias for this survey are not stringent enough to draw any conclusions outside the particular group of people who actually completed it. The numbers mean nothing. It's like asking 1000 republicans who's going to win the election. Are seriously saying that Reddit only contains people with a negative attitude that is not representative? If so, who should have been asked instead of a subreddit dedicated to the game?

In the 1-5 ratings was 1 high or low? I’m assuming low.
The bugs affecting hardware is obviously bogus. It tells me the PCMR “muh cpu pegged 100%” crowd thinks that’s a hardware crippling bug.
But for the rest, I was honestly expecting a lot worse.

However, you can ask yourself the question, were you surprised by the results? Yes, the results are far more negative than I would expect from a typical player population. Without some reference to a credible source for its balanced collection, I'd view this as loaded clickbait, subject to such a source being confirmed or otherwise. And EA already has player-activity data from millions of players, so if there is cause for concern, this survey would provide EA with no new information to that which they have already. Why would it be clickbait? Which I have never posted btw. It's a poll of players. If I made a thread and referenced a poll from one of the threads in this forum would that be classified as clickbait? Or are just the polls with bad numbers click bait.

Most of the discoveries about the scaling, lvl 1 weapons doing the most dmg, drop rates, etc have come out in that forum, so people there have not only spent a lot of time playing the game, but doing analysis as well.

If you want to draw conclusions regarding a general population you have to have a sample population that mirrors it. It's that simple.

Or are just the polls with bad numbers click bait. I'm not saying the poll responses were not genuine, but my understanding is that this came from Reddit which by the nature of how it works has become a rather one-sided forum, to the point that those who were enjoying the game split to make their own subReddit. That makes the poll result rather one-sided and this 'clickbait' as a news article, would be my instinct. Whilst a poll of this forum would doubtless have its critics, it would also have its enthusiasts. I'm not convinced this forum is exactly a representative sample of 'player opinion' either, mostly because people who post on forums are not representative of most players.

It's fallen way off, and the game hasn't even been out two months. People have moved.

Andromeda traffic had fallen by 75% at the 2 month point Anthem traffic has fallen by 50% at the 2 month point Anthem will either gets its act together content-wise and activity will recovery, or we'll be more turning our gaze, eventually, to the next Dragon Age game. Time will tell.

To places like the lowsodiumanthem reddit, which has a staggering 8k subs compared to Anthemtheganes 190k. So obviously a large percentage. And the recent livestream thread on the lowsodium sub was still pretty negative.

To a place in order to get away from the constant toxicity that invaded this sub forum. To be fair, a game with so many launch issues is going to have a rough time. We have both our skeptics and enthusiasts here, but I don't think this forum has had the drastic 'collapse' in its atmosphere as say Reddit which has gone from fan-boy heaven to dumpster party. We have people (fairly) grumbling about the game and also those still enjoying it.

Anthem was never really for the majority of people who hang out on this board. It's a Bio game, but it's in a different genre from previous Bio games. A lot of us just don't play looter shooters. (I don't play them myself, but I do play FPSs on occasion, which isn't that much of a leap.)

Besides yeah the people expressed their disappointment but they didn’t go in conspiracy theory about the livestream compared to the main Anthem subreddit.

The graphics are pretty and the flying is nicely done, yes, but it does pretty much everything else, especially the looting, not nearly as well as any competitor that comes to mind. The only people I can see it appeal to are players who are interested in the genre but have no or little experience with it, or those who prefer a looter-shooter "lite" experience. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing of course, it just seems a rather small crowd to appeal to.

It'd be bloody useless because you'd land tons of non-gamers and of gamers you'd land loads of players who dont give a fuck about Anthem. You know full well that if you want a meaningful sample you need to draw one from a meaningful subset. And a subset of around 150K subscribers and 3500 concurrent online when I took a glimpse at it last evening appears to be suitable. Randomized my ass. I bet you'd sample London pop too if you wanted to measure commute times of Berlin citizens?

I read the original posting and source thread. Someone had to point out to the creator in the comments that it allowed people to vote multiple times and ask them politely to fix it. Professional polling companies and market researchers don't make these kinds of mistakes if they want the data to actually be useful. The post was deleted after one day (it was supposed to remain open for at least a week), but instead of reposting or sharing to other related subs, the results were simply posted the next day to a non Anthem related gaming sub, where it was promptly picked up media. What does that tell you. I would say the same had the poll been overwhelmingly positive. For some strange reason consumers are supposed to pretend like influencer marketing and clickbait aren't real things and not a multi billion dollar (and growing!) industry.

Large communities attract trolls like flies. You just have to account for that. Taking a sample at the reddit makes much more sense than going here. It wasn't a good quality poll, though. It tells me that it was lazy ass survey.

It tells me that it was lazy ass survey. If I'm being charitable, it was lazy and low effort by an anonymous gamer. If I am not, it was done in bad faith by a user with a history of shitposting. Either way the objective end result is the same, it's an iffy poll to be taken with a grain of salt (no pun intended ) whether we like the results or not. If we worry about GAAS being anti consumer we should be concerned about this kind of stuff being uncritically treated as legitimate by journalists.

Why would it be clickbait? Which I have never posted btw. It's a poll of players. If I made a thread and referenced a poll from one of the threads in this forum would that be classified as clickbait? Or are just the polls with bad numbers click bait.
You not agreeing with the survey pool doesn't make something 'clickbait'. Clickbait would be me titling the thread something like "SURVEY PAINTS GRIM PICTURE FOR ANTHEM'.
All I did was post results from a survey of what is probably the biggest Anthem community out there, and let people make of it what they will.
