The atmosphere of Po town is really good: it's like a combination between a prison and some post-apocalyptic town. Big looming walls and a town filled with broken Buildings and graffiti. There's even cars parked astray and what basically amounts to raiders hanging about everywhere. This game knows how to do atmosphere.

My Eevee in Pokemon Moon kept evolving in an Espeon and I didn't immediately realize why that was the case. See, I didn't spoil myself for the game so I wasn't even aware of time difference in Pokemon Moon. Which made for an amusing D'oh moment Oh and btw my team so far is: -Rockruff -Umbreon -Cutiefly -Dartrix Probably going to get Null Type as my fifth pokemon not sure about the sixth one.

You won't get Type: Null until after the post-game, unless you trade for one from another player. Rockruff is also awesome in Moon. It evolves (at nighttime) into Lycanroc (Lycanroc in its Midnight forme in Moon, evolve it during the day in Sun to get its Midday forme) and is actually super strong for physical attacks and has solid defenses. One of the Elite Four members and the final Champion battle pit you against Lycanrocs. If you haven't gotten a Magnemite yet, I would recommend one of them and evolve it into Magneton --> Magnezone. It's tremendously useful. I've had my Magnezone since I caught it at the beginning of the game as a Magnemite, and it's still one of my most powerful Pokemon, on par with Lunala (the Moon version mascot legendary) and my Decidueye (Rowlet's final evolution).

Oh good to know. I really wanted to use it when I saw that one trainer use it but I guess I'll replace it with another pokemon.
I know that Magnezone is amazing and I normally would use it but I've already used it twice, once in Platinum and in Black 2 and in my first runs in new pokemon games I always try to use new pokemon's.
But if you know about some other new pokemons I would love to know because I'm really not that far in the game yet so I really don't know where to catch most pokemons and how viable they are.

But if you know about some other new pokemons I would love to know because I'm really not that far in the game yet so I really don't know where to catch most pokemons and how viable they are. On the second island there are Magbys, and even wild Magmars that you can catch. I got lucky and caught a Magmar and it's been serving me well ever since all the way up through my battles with the Elite Four. Also in that same area is a new Pokemon called Salandit, which evolves into Salazzle at level 33 if the Salandit is a female. Salazzle is a very strong Fire/Poison type. If you encounter a wild Corsola, you can weaken it and get it to call for help (which is a new mechanic in this gen, wild Pokemon and Totem Pokemon call for help when their HP gets low), and there's a chance that it can summon a Mareanie or one of its evolutions. Mareanie and its variants are Water/Poison (incredibly helpful against the Elite Four and several trials/Kahunas), but getting a wild Corsola to call it for help is the only way to encounter wild Mareanie. If there's data for the Sun/Moon demo on your 3DS you can get a Greninja with the Battle Bond ability that boosts its stats when it knocks out Pokemon and turns it into Ash-Greninja. It's super helpful as a Water/Dark type. There is also currently a Mystery Gift Munchlax available for everyone for free that comes with the Happy Hour move (doubles the amount of money from trainer battles if used) and Snorlax's unique Z-stone. There are more useful early-game Pokemon, but these are probably the best that I can think of.

Thank you, it's a very informative post and I think I now have my full team for my first run. Salandit and Mareanie are going to be the two final members on my team.
I honestly just like their design and their stats are certainly not lacking. I've also never used pokemons with their respective typing.
Oh and on unrelated note, team Skull is so corny. I can't take these guys seriously, they always give me a big smile on my face when they do their stupid animations.

I suppose the dramatic tension of the walk up the altar stairs is somewhat undercut by me having Machamp carry me. He’s a champ, that one.

Champion Coffeé
Kaikunane (Primarina) - Met at Iki Town at level 5. Ahe - (Toucannon) - Met on Route 1 at level 3. Pu'iwa (Magnezone) - Met on Route 1 at level 8. Malama - (Mudsdale) - Met on Paniola Ranch at level 15. Hau'oli (Lycanroc) - Met on Ten Carat Hill at level 13.
I chose to not use any Zs in the League and I completed it without any Restarts. Time: 28:34 (for those curious)
The credit roll is wonderful! God, I love this game so much!
Note: I had Lunala, whom I named Nebby, with him as the sixth ranger for the League but I didn't use it. I didn't really have a sixth ranger since that spot was either empty or filled by a Pokémon I didn't end up using until very late in the game. The sixth ranger there was Dog!Zygarde. I adored that one.

You're kicking its ass in a battle so it calls for help, only to summon in its natural predator, and the Mareanie won't even focus on you, it will attack the Corsola. Carbink does the same thing by sometimes summoning Sableye. Sableye eats the gems that the Carbink is made from.

If you think that's bad, read the entry about its evolved form Toxapex: Toxapex crawls along the ocean floor on its 12 legs. It leaves a trail of Corsola bits scattered in its wake.

Oh my god, I had a zubat call for help ten times in a row and always getting it. At the rate it was going, I was thinking there'd be no more zubats in Seaweed Cavern, let alone on Melemele. I guess zubats are really big on being good samaritans to each other.

So I was lurking about on Pokemon Reddit looking for a theory thread and I found it. I thought I'd share it because something came up: Spoiler for Guzma's endgame content as well as indications of his past and main storyline:So on Route 2, there's a house where Guzma used to live with his parents. In the living room, there's broken golf clubs and Guzma’s father who says: “I tried to set that boy of mine straight, but when I did, I was the one who got beat.”
This line that can be interpreted as Guzma beating up his father when his father tried to talk to him buuut it can also be interpreted as Guzma’s father attempting to beat Guzma and instead being the one who was beat up. Alternatively, that Guzma beat him in a Pokemon battle.
Apparently there was no ambiguity to the Japanese dialogue if what I’ve heard is true: "としたらコテンパンにされましてのう"
Guzma's mother can be found in Guzma’s old room where you can find that Guzma earned a lot of trophies. She says the following: “I know that there were a lot of rumors flying about, saying our Guzma was up to no good but I know it was just lies.”
If we take the domestic abuse angle then she’s not just a mother believing the best of her son who cannot imaging he'd do something like that: she’s in denial and is likely also in denial about any abuse that took place.
Another dialogue bit from Guzma’s father has that Guzma ran away from home without a word to his parents. Given the domestic abuse angle, it makes it seem like he ran away to escape, not just for adventure, to see the world or such.
The domestic abuse angle makes a lot of sense when looking at Guzma and his behavior. An example is how Guzma always says this after he loses a battle: “What is wrong with you, Guzma?!” The dialogue with Hau's grandfather in the endgame suggests that Guzma is unable to see anybody but himself as responsible for his own losses. That he dosen't even see that his opponent is stronger than him and that is why he lost: he believes it is all his fault that he could not win.
Combine this with the domestic abuse, the trophies and the violent falling out he had with his father and it seems like Guzma was pressured by his father to be the best and was punished when he wasn't, blamed for any loss no matter why it happened. Guzma eventually snapped and fought back against his father one time when he attempted to beat him possibly with his father's golf clubs. Possibly this was because Guzma had run away or possibly Guzma ran away after this.
This is dark, yes, but Pokemon has always had some dark elements to it and sometimes it’s been more or less out of direct sight but not always especially lately. The last game had the villainous plot be genocide and did not try to disguise that after it was revealed. Ghetsis was deliberately manipulating his son and brainwashing him while keeping him emotionally stunted because Ghetsis believed it would allow N to summon the legendary because of a pure heart kind of thing. A common theory about Cyrus is that he came from a bad home as well due to remarks made. Basically, the parental abuse angle is nothing new to Pokemon. In this game, we even have a front row seat to verbal and emotional abuse delivered by Lusamine.

So remember that Mohn guy? Takes care of the Poke Pelago? Grows Poke Beans? Spoilers for the main storyline:Notice something familiar about his hair? Like a resemblence to another character's? cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/7/74/SM_Prerelease_Mohn.pngYeah... it seems heavily implied that Mohn is Professor Mohn and that he was the husband of Lusamine as well as the father of Gladion and Lilie. The game mentions a Professor Mohn who first discovered the Ultra Wormhole: "Th-th-that hole... Is that the Ultra Wormhole that Professor Mohn discovered?!"In the endgame content, Gladion mentions that his father discovered the Ultra Wormhole: "He was the one who first confirmed the existence of Ultra Wormholes and Ultra Beasts." Professor Mohn apparently disappeared sometime after publishing a rapport about the Ultra Wormhole. Professor Burnet mentions that he was the one who published a rapport on it. It seems like Mohn ended up with amnesia on the Poke Pelago and just remained there otherwise it would seem like he just decided to up and leave his family without a word, making his wife and children believe he'd disappeared into the Ultra Wormhole all the while he was sitting out in the middle of nowhere, eating beans.

Okay, my Primarina apparently really needed to get laid because I left him in the Daycare with a Ditto for less than five minutes and there's already an egg waiting. Either that or that Ditto had some sweet moves. Amusingly, I went back for him because I thought I might need the Oval Charm that you can win from the Game Freak battle.
And now, according to the egg lady, he and the Ditto don't like each other. What, was it a one-night stand that they are both ashamed of or did they have a fight about parental stuff?

I'm really taking my sweet time with this game so I'm only on the third island right now but so far I'm enjoying this one FAR MORE than GEN 6.
Hell, if it keeps up the same kind of quality it might be up there with BW2 and Platinum (HGSS will always be my favorite though).
