So! Spoilers for the Deception comics... House Danarius was mentioned!! Makes me wonder if we'll learn something new about Fenris's past, or perhaps we'll run into someone who's related to Danarius?

It should be noted that one of the writers said they would love their characters to meet Fenris, so maybe this will be how they do.

So haven't been in this thread much... need to stop by more, Fenris is my favorite DA2 romance I swear the Inquisition main board is my Hinterlands - I know I need to get out and explore other places more, but keep getting distracted before I actually leave, lol Don't mind my trip thru old posts... So I was wondering what you all thought of the markings regarding pain. And since this thread also concerns the romance, how that related to being touched. I think of it like how some people that have scar tissue that is extra sensitive or maybe increased sensitivity from something like fibromyalgia (I do not have personal experience with either condition, or lyrium tattoos for that matter, so just guessing here). The markings might not hurt all them time, but certain contact with them might be painful. I also think park of the pain might be psychological. I doubt pre-Kirkwall Fenris has much experience with someone being gentle/careful with him, so he's come to equate all touch with pain. And sometimes when you're expecting something to be painful, it makes it just that much worse (imagine getting a shot when you're watching and dreading it vs getting the needle when you're distracted). I think as far as a romance goes, Hawke would adjust their touch a bit with Fenris, trying to not touch him too unexpectedly and being extra careful when having to touch the markings directly. I can also image Fenris, with time, getting more use to and comfortable with Hawke's touch, being surprised when he looks down and see's Hawke's hand on one of the markings and being surprised when he realizes he didn't feel pain. I know that Fenris' lyrium tattoos were added through a special ritual, but I don't think it makes sense for lyrium's risks to be ignored. One thing I think it already affected was his hair (undecided if it was the lyrium itself or the ritual in general. Although I realize that some people have a difference in their hair and eyebrow color, I've always imagined Fenris to have black hair pre-ritual. I also wonder if Fenris' memory loss was a side effect of the ritual/lyrium or a deliberate spell by Danarius? Isn't lyrium actually alive in someway (haven't played the DLC yet that deals more with this particular bit of lore). Maybe the reason the lyrium isn't poisoning Fenris / cause him to become "lyrium addled" and why he's able to use the power in them is because something about him allowed the lyrium to essentially bond with him on a biological level. Maybe the others that died in the failed rituals before Fenris weren't able to make this bond, either because of mistakes in ritual and/or they lacked that "something"? Here's the thing. The opening of the sex scene can play out a bit differently depending on when you do his QB. The QB depends on the amount of friendship or rivalry. If you do it before his personal quest, when he comes to you after that to apologize for his behavior, if you pick the [img class="smile" alt="[3" src="//storage.proboards.com/6576594/images/bYmUqWGYNIhNE0GJanhP.png"] when he starts to leave, he will get defensive, glow a bit, and shove Hawke against the wall in a kiss. This is the "glowing kiss" option. If you do it after his personal quest, when he comes to you after that to apologize for his behavior he will just leave. Then you do the QB where he talks about his escape, and then he comes to the mansion later on, says he's been thinking about you, and asks if you want him to stay, leading to the sex scene. I can't resist talking to my companions at the beginning of the act, so never even realized there was a difference in how that scene played out. I'll have to hold off talking to Fenris next time and try for the non-glowy kiss... Fenris is a guy who can make you go "God, that's badass" AND "Aww, that's so cute". At the same time Finally caught up with Hawke in my current DAI play. About Fenris, he says, "Fenris would have killed himself to protect me. I didn't want to give him that chance." Anyone have a headcanon for their Hawke leaving him behind? Taking from Hawke's line, I imagine they made these plans to travel, then Hawke just leaves without saying anything. Fenris would be pissed. Hawke knows Fenris would be pissed, but also that he'd forgive him eventually. I can't really imagine them sitting down beforehand and having a reasonable conversation about Fenris remaining behind. It seems to me that Hawke knows Fenris would not accept that idea, so he resorts to that measure. My headcanon is similar to yours. For all of the other romances I imagine a discussion takes place (Isabela is doing her own thing, Anders has to worry about the false Calling and being a fugitive, Merrill is helping rebuild the Alienage, Sebastian is Starkhaven-ing), but I always imagined that Hawke in a Fenrismance straight up takes off in the middle of the night, leaving a note behind. Cue Fenris being furious in the morning. (But, Hawke helpfully notes, not dead!) In my own headcanon, Fenris and Hawke had a kid between the two games. It's the only way I can rationalize Fenris not being there with Hawke, he stayed behind to protect their child. Even if Hawke stuck away in the middle of the night (which I totally see them doing), I still think Fenris would track them down prior to Adamant. And some pretty pictures to end the long post Going through my Pinterest board, I realized I've either seriously slacked on my Fenris pins, never pinned ones I thought I did, or some of my pins have gone missing. Whichever the case, this must be remedied...

Any kids they might have would be human. And probably mages Most likely, but I wonder if the lyrium in Fenris would perhaps change the appearance of the child? I mean, who's to say the child couldn't be born with slightly pointed ears? (An old classmate of mine had ears that appeared slightly pointed)
but yeah, I think the children would be mages (especially if Hawke is also a mage), but I don't think he'd mind I mean, they're his children
(like so (no idea of the creator of this one, but its so funny)

Any kids they might have would be human. I know it's not canon, but I like to think that elf-blooded children (at least first generation) show their heritage if you know to look for it - ears that are little longer or more tapered than usual, slightly more delicate features...

But why? What narrative purpose does it serve? By establishing that Human/Elf pairings always create human children in Dragon Age, the writers debunk the image of fantasy hybrids (especially in Mary Sue characters )*, make their elves that much more alien, and and use the metaphor to explore fears of being lost in assimilation. If previously established rules are going to be broken, it needs to be fully examined beyond Rule of Cool . And yes, this is just harmless fan art, but that doesn't mean the DA writers couldn't create new characters for a new take on the Changeling Myth.
*One of the biggest reasons I've grown weary of hybrids is when the author uses it as lazy shorthand to explain why this particular is different from their typical fantasy race. An orc who is actually intelligent and moral? Oh no, he has to a half-orc. An elf who prefers technology to nature? One of her parents must be a gnome or dwarf. You know, as opposed to allowing such races to be fully realized and three dimensional, instead of stock stereotypes.

I once created a fan art of a Fenris + Hawke family myself, and their child had normal human ears
I'm not saying I prefer to see half elves in the lore (for that I'd go to a regular D&D game), but I also don't see why an elf-blooded child wouldn't show more of their elven heritage (we have Feynriel as an example)
... just realized that all the children from my canon world state would be elf blooded
I also think that it's good to break away from racial stereotypes in fantasy, but allow all members of the race to be so once I was working on a fantasy story where the humans of my world were dependent on water (they were amphibian) and always had to carry around a source of water my dwarves and elves had switched stereotypes where the elves were these warmongers and the dwarves were a nature worshiping shamanistic community (I believe I had a few more races but I don't remember what they were)
of course there would be individuals who would break away from the norm, but that's to be expected, it's what would make it interesting (this is my opinion anyway)

(we have Feynriel as an example) Feynriel was likely a mistake. Similarly, there is banter dialogue in the DAI files between Solas and Blackwall discussing elven beards, but that is also a mistake. Mistakes that go against established lore happen. People can have whatever headcanon they like, but that's all it is.

I personally don't mind seeing the elf-blooded characters as fully human (still feels a bit odd at times, but I can understand if from a certain perspective)
though I do wonder why most of the elf-blooded characters that we have seen so far are all blonde (except Slim Couldry (and Kieran if his father was elven) (possibly reading to much into it anyway )

The better question is... does Fenris cum lyrium?

The better question is... does Fenris cum lyrium? ...maybe? it would account for the fact their child would be a mage (I mean, both Hawke's family and Fenris' family (his sister) have magic)
I've seen a few comics on the internet where a mage Hawke was depleted of mana and by kissing him (Fenris) would recharge their mana

It's not hat I want half-elves or half-{insert race here} with special skills or whatever, or that I don't accept that the elf-blooded are essentially human, just simply that I imagine the kids getting physical features that are a little more of a blend of their parents. Wouldn't expect an elf-blooded child to have fully elven ears, or even ears that are halfway between elven and human - just that some might have, again using ears as an example, ears that are just slightly longer or more tapered than average. Not enough that if you saw them walking around the market you'd look at them and be able to go "Hey! That kid is elf-blooded!" from a glance. More of a, if you already knew they had an elven parent, you may be able to squint and go "I think I see it now".
It probably didn't help that the first elf-blooded I knew of was Fenriel, before I started getting more into the lore (somehow missed the fact that Slim was and didn't know about Alistair yet). His design may have most likely been a goof, but it still helped shape the image I have in my mind when I think of some of Hawke/Fenris's kids or Lavellan/Cullen's kids.
