Anthem LivestreamTime: 1:00pm PDT/3:00pm CT ( Timezone Converter) Speaking of the Cataclysm, you’re probably wondering when it is going to release. Rather than rush it out the door, we want to take time and get feedback from you and make changes based on what we hear. In order to do that we are releasing a Public Test Server (PTS) on PC, which will allow you to see the content as it is being developed and gives you the ability to provide feedback. While this won’t immediately solve all of the current issues, we want to continue to hear from you as we make improvements to Anthem – and the PTS is a great way to do that.
We’ll be diving deeper into these topics (and others) as well as giving a first look at the Cataclysm tomorrow...TWITCH REPLAY: … MIXER: mixer.com/anthemgame

Sounds pretty exciting although I find timed stuff in games tend to stress me out a bit, hopefully my blood pressure will survive the event

Sounds pretty exciting although I find timed stuff in games tend to stress me out a bit, hopefully my blood pressure will survive the event Sounds almost like a rift. Does it have long lasting effects in the area they appear? So the Cataclysm was just a different skybox huh? Happened in Rift, as well.

Of course you temp ban disruptive posters. They were just spamming the chat and preventing proper questions and views from being seen. Fortunately it wasn't nearly as bad as the previous stream.
The fact that the very first slide mentioned new or more powerful rewards (i.e. loot) seemed to have escaped them!

No, you ignore the spammers and the community manager funnels pertinent questions. Banning people for stating what they want is officially called "acting butthurt". And anyway there was very little interaction with the community in either livestream. TBH they should just make a video and pin it on their website or something.

If there's minimal interaction with the community, then there's no point doing a livestream. Also can someone tell me what the hell Jesse is doing on these? Other than, you know, looking like a giddy star struck lover?

Actually Ben Irving, the professional he is, touched on the loot in the chat and did a nice segue into the Cataclysm loot system. Because Ben Irving knows what he's doing.

Pertinent questions were funnelled but pointless and disruptive spam just makes it more difficult to spot the pertinent stuff.
It was clear from the start, to anyone actually paying attention to what was being said and shown, that more powerful loot was going to be coming and was on the schedule to be discussed, at that point just spamming the word "Loot" over and over again was just childish.
The "level design" posts were even less productive as the only point of them was to be insulting towards the previous stream.

That is literally Jesse's job, to act as a go between between the community and the developers. If it were an easy job they could fire Jesse's arse and program a bot to take his place. It is not Bioware's place to reprimand people over childish behaviour. Childish behaviour, by itself, isn't against any law and Bioware are not their parents. Also some of these people are children and it is a child's prerogative to act childish. The level design posts were not malicious in any way and could have been a source of interaction between community and developers. Instead banning those posts makes the community more disgruntled at Bioware.

People these days just use it as a catch all phrase to describe people they don't like. One article describing why trolls weren't worth listening to confused trolling with nerd rage. Made me want to bang my head on the table over and over. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Anyway onto the cataclysm: Timer - semi pass from me score board - bordering on a hard pass from me The cataclysm isn't for me. It doesn't get me excited at all. Some are wondering whether this will be like Destiny's nightfall? Personally, like most of the community, I'm far more interested in the loot . But I understand that's going to take about a year

Found a decent summary of the live stream on reddit: The Cataclysm Event • 8 week event • First 2 weeks: Pre-events • 3 new missions • New area: The Cataclysm • New systems: Scoring, inversions, leaderboards • New power & new rewards A new faction is formed from the remnants of the Dominion. They trigger the Cataclysm and the freelancer has to stop it. Pre-Event The pre-event will be the first two weeks of the Cataclysm. During the pre-event, gear will not be rewarded but new cosmetics will. The Cataclysm Overview The Cataclysm takes place in a new area of the map The objective is to get to the boss, Vara, and kill her before time is up. You earn a score along the way. There will be "arenas" where you can complete objectives and increase your score and extend your timer. Not every arena will be available from the start. While you're in this area, a storm is raging and you need to create "safe zones" to protect yourself from it. There will be secrets and mysteries to solve in the new area. There will be leaderboards so that you can compete with friends and the rest of the world. You will earn currency by playing the Cataclysm and that can be spent on warchests that contain gear. Warchests will rotate. A feature called inversion will be active in the cataclysm. Inversions are like modifiers to gameplay, e.g. increased ultimate charge rate, decreased ability cooldowns, certain weapon kills giving bonus points etc. Inversions will change from time-to-time e.g. weekly, daily etc. There will also be 3 new main missions that include new cinematics and progress the story. Cataclysm loot New weapons New masterwork gear (different Masterwork/Legendary variants of existing gear) Melee equippable slot (not items but variants, e.g. a detonator for Ranger rather than a Primer) Masterwork and Legendary Support Gear All NEW items will have a higher power level than existing items. Currently, the Masterwork and Legendary items are 5 levels higher. Public Test Server PTS will start next week. They are looking to run it for 2-3 weeks. It is PC-only. It will not always be up e.g. it may be up for a couple of days, then go down for a while before coming back online. If you own Anthem or have a subscription to EA Origin Premiere, you will have access to the PTS. It will be a separate client that you have to download. The first week will include the Cataclysm but not the rewards. It's a PTS, so it will be unfinished. It will be buggy and may crash. Patch notes will be made available for changes. Luck Luck has been removed from the game. All suits will now have max luck by default (90%). Any exisiting luck rolls will change to armour. As someone who really enjoyed there time on anthem, I’m looking forward to jumping back in again!

Hmmmm.....i don't want to seem negative here as this just may be a case of me not understanding how these looter-shooter games work. This event only lasts 8 weeks then it's gone? And i'm really not liking that these events are timed....again Anthem isn't my type of game, but it seems contradictory to say Anthem will have tons of content, and when you actually do create content, it is only here temporarily? Now if all looter-shooters (Destiny/Warframe) are like this then you'll have to excuse me and i apologize, ME3 MP was my first MP (phoenix vanguard..*flexes*... ) and i don't have an issue playing on those same maps every day (game is still a blast to play)....but i thought this cataclysm would be a permanent map/area...not something that is here for 8 weeks then gone. I would think that adding this and adding more content would help Anthem become a much more immersive and full rounded experience. For this to leave in 8 weeks, they must have something else planned immediately after to keep the fans interested, i would believe...again tho, if this is how looter-shooters operate then i will refrain from the critique of that particular design decision. Other than that....i think Bioware gave a decent showing here, much better than that last live-stream.....it's concerning that folks are waiting longer during the match-making due to the player drop off, but that is why i question why this map is only here for 8 weeks then its gone?....players will come back then leave again if there is nothing new after that.....

(Not an Anthem player) The Cataclysm event is for the purpose of any event in 'live' games - to give the feeling of 'fear of missing out' so you log in and play instead of wait until the game is 'complete'. It doesn't necessarily mean that all this content will be gone forever. It may return later in the year or next year as an event. It may return in a form nearly or mostly as large but in a permanent form. It may be reworked as part of a new system later. It does have story, so I'd personally highly prefer that it return for good at some point (and frankly, it doesn't look like Anthem will produce enough content that they should think they can afford popping content in and out...), but it doesn't appear to be the advancement of the *main storyline*. Its a large event for Freelancers to do in a meantime, that suggests other things to come for the story. While Cataclysm spins up (testing) and proceeds, I'd hope that missing features are in the works as well.
