Concerning Sovereign, that's the thing about going vague and portentious; people can fill up the emptiness with whatever they prefer, and until the emptiness gets filled they can be happy about it.
In my case it worked out fine; the moment Sovereign started ducking questions about why the Reapers do what they do, what popped into my mind was that he didn't actually know why the Reapers do what they do. They were just following a program, maybe a corrupt program, from millenia ago. Not too far from the truth.
That works out to, what, 80 or so capital ships? Depends on how many dozens are in that "dozens more."
Even if we lowballed it, and said "only" 50 Sovereigns plus destroyer escorts and such stormed the Sol system, that's more than enough to lock down the entire freaking system and make sure no one escaped.
Well, you can't actually stop ships from getting into FTL. Probably can stop non-stealth ships from activating relay transit, though. Don't ask me how Hackett got out of the cluster.

Going to FTL only helps if there is another system nearby. And only helps long term if there's either another relay or a defensible (for a given value of "defensible") system nearby.
Hacket escaped by sacrificing an entire fleet to cover his escape, and even then the Reapers were probably being dumb again and not securing the relays.

<- From respectively 2019 and 2018. I'm sure everything is going fine, and I'm sure Mr. Gamble worked really hard to become the new executive running the project.

I just saw a Kotaku article from a month ago resurfacing, with tons of supposed Anthem leaks and a mention that a new Mass Effect launches under the direction of Gamble. I think I believe it so now I have a question: what exactly was he responsible for in the past?

Google is your friend.
Project Director (2019) Lead Producer (2016 – 2019) Producer (2013 – 2016) Associate Producer (2010 – 2013) Development Manager (2009 – 2010)
All at BioWare and pretty sure all were from Mass Effect and Anthem.

Ok but is there any knowledge about which missions did he write? Which characters?

I dont think its producers job to write stuff?

Probably none, for that would be the job of the writers. This is the description of what video game producer does from the first one at EA.
Producers basically manage the relationship with the artist. They find the talent, work out product deals, get contracts signed, manage them, and bring them to their conclusion. The producers do most of the things that a product manager does. They don't do the marketing, which in some cases product managers do. They don't make decisions about packaging and merchandising, but they do get involved ... they're a little like book editors, a little bit like film producers, and a lot like product managers.

Yeah I think the jobs of producers aer really to oversee things not necessaril ywrite/create them himself just oversee the ones that do. Effectively a team management kind of thing.

Then who will be in charge of writing? Dobrow? Walters?
Mac Walters is a Creative Director under Casey Hudson but I'm not sure if it is specific to Mass Effect or if he helps guide multiple IPs. Mike Gamble is Project Director specific to the Mass Effect franchise. As for the writing, good question. There are some writers are specific to certain franchises while others seem to move around. For example, the lead writers on "Anthem" were Catherine Rootsaert and Jay Watamaniuk...Catherine was also a writer on Mass Effect 3 and Andromeda and this appears to be her first "Lead Writer" gig while Jay was a writer on the Mass Effect franchise since Mass Effect 2. Then, there are writing credits for people like Brianne Battye, Sheryl Chee, Sylvia Feketekuty, and Mary Kirby who have been on either Dragon Age, Mass Effect or both. And, finally, you have writers like Lukas Kristjanson who has been writing on the all the franchises in one capacity or another since Baldur's Gate. In looking at their various Twitter handles, some of the sub-writers on "Anthem" are now on "Dragon Age 4" with Patrick Weekes as Leads Writer but I think the next "Mass Effect" is so early in it's development that there doesn't appear to be a specific writer attached at this point.
So Gamble, Super Mac, and Hudson, the triumvirate that first created the whole endings debacle, then denied it, then blamed it on rabble rousing fans, then half-assed an apology via the "extended cut", and then shut down the original Bioware Social Network because they didn't want to hear any more real feedback - this triumvirate is somehow still in charge of the next ME?
Not to mention 2 of them were leadership for the whole Andromeda mess?

Hey I love MEA and IMHO it is everything the MET should've been. So if they give more of the sense of fun and excitement that MEA1 has and a LOT less of the grimdark space war drama of MET because I'm sick of grimdark space war drama. I can watch shows like Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, Torchwood, and The Expanse for that fix. Nothing wrong with it but I've had my fill and want some HOPE instead of despair look there is FAR enough despair in the real world and frankly I want to get far away from this dying rock we're stuck on but since I can't in real life I'll have to make do with fiction so pardon me if blasting giant robot squids and their allies is old news.
As Peebee said "Been there. Done that."
Now I want some new, fun, excitement, and most importantly HOPEFUL like all of the various Star Trek shows (and maybe to lesser extent all of the Star Wars movies). I'm sick of seeing characters wasting time wondering how they're going to defeat the stupid looking robot squid army from dark space.
That is why I want too see more of Andromeda with Ryder and company because I'm sick and tied of being fed a diet of despair in my media I need some fucking HOPE every once and a while and also I'm sick and tied of hearing characters argue about what goes with giant robotic calamari for dinner.
My personal mottoes:
1) I would rather be hated for being honest than being loved as a liar.

Couldn't have put it better. It's why I love MEA as well as it puts a different spin on the ME universe and does it without taking itself too seriously after the trilogy I think it was important to do a game like that if ME was going to continue. Becvause as good as the trilogy is every so often a house needs a fresh coat of paint to breathe new life into it and for me MEA provided that. Was it perfect hell no but it was what the series needed at least for me and like you Cyberstrike I hope they get the chance to continue because of this.

Isn't Mac the one responsible for the gloomy tone ME3 took ?

Isn't Mac the one responsible for the gloomy tone ME3 took ?
I am pretty sure its more then just one person that makes major decisions like that, I think it even goes through multiple departments from the concept art, to the writers to, possibility of other teams.

And no, multiple people should not be making the major decisions, that is for leaders and leadership. Or at least that's the concept.
But in light of Biower's travails in the last decade, that is as good an explanation as any - leadership by groupthink.
Yeah, he was the lead writer. That doesn't mean he decides the direction of the game alone. During a major project no single area is an island they need the input of different groups so they can make an informed and knowledgeable decision. He doesn't go tell the animation department what crazy and impossible task he wants to write in the script. He would talk to the lead animator and see what is possible and then write a script around that. If anything the overall direction of a game wouldn't even be his decision to make, he would more then likely have been told the direction and the key points they want to hit and it was his responsibility to write that content within parameters given.
Groupthink is normally when there is a discouraging behavior that prevents alternative ideas to be added the discussion or people are not allowed to contribute. I do agree groupthink was a problem, but that was because everyone over the years started to have similar ideas towards what should be done so there was no fresh ideas being presented which in my first post was to get the ideas and input from the other teams to make a better product. If anything having him be the only person that determines the tone is more of a groupthink idea then going around and seeking input from different disciplines.
