Hi everyone, I'm sure you've all heard of me by now (I'm the one ranting about BSODs as of late)....But I thought I'd take time off of that (as my PC seems to be running fine today I'm gonna take advantage of it while I can) and write a new discussion topic. Okay....here goes:
While the onboard soundcard/chip that is built into my Gigabyte Phoenix SLI motherboard sounds pretty good (to me) an though I don't have the system configuration to test this, it is my understanding that my onboard audio is capable of producing and handling 7.1 surround sound. Yet, there are times when I get split-second drop-outs where the sound cuts out for just a brief moment (this happened in DAI especially during the first mission where you're wandering around gathering supplies for the refugees), or maybe sometime, static. And I haven't used an actual sound card since the days of the SoundBlaster16 from Creative Labs, because the onboard sound has gotten just that much better- almost making the addition and need for a physical card obsolete.
That is until I heard about the NU Audio card from EVGA....and that card has got me wondering if I am missing out on anything. Would my games sound better with a card like that (or that one specifically) in comparison to my onboard audio? Does anyone have this card or any other physical sound card that can testify to the quality of the sound vs their motherboard's onboard codec or chip-based audio solution?
Just curious
