My fave Warden was my male Brosca. I end up comparing every other Warden to him - for someone so short, he set the bar high.

My canon warden is a warrior female Mahariel. She ended up putting Anora on the throne and running off into the sunset with Alistair (which really paid off in Inquisition )

I'm probably going to end up with 2 cannons, one Surana Female and one Dwarf commoner guy. But I chose Surana since she is my first.

I chose my Lady Cousland (Alistair romance, rules Ferelden at his side since she got him to do the dark ritual. Oh Ashe, what have you done ?), because that's my import run, but in truth my Headcanon has a squad of wardens, one from each origin. Ashelyn Cousland, Kalian Tabris, Cyrus Amell, Thoryn Aeducan, Harin Brosca and Gillas Mahariel. Gillas died killing the Archdemon, Cyrus is Kieran's father, my two dwarves romanced each other. So far only Ashe and Kali have completed the game, Cyrus, Thoryn and Gillas are at Ostagar and i think Harin's at Lothering.

Lady Cousland, who married Alistair. They rule Ferelden as King and Queen.

I consider my first playthroughs to be "canon" since they are the honest, "blind" ones without any sort of planning. Thus: Male Surana. Though which I actually liked the most was my Female Tabris. Her origin made her roleplay come really naturally and she remained consistent whereas my Surana was kind of all over the place, thanks to me being new to the world of DA. But hey, I can headcanon that he had some sort of personality disorder and an attention span of a goldfish. It makes sense that those who have lived their whole lives in the Circle have difficulties to function in the "real" world.

Same here. I love playing Amells. And Couslands. Their both a vital part of my favourite 'non' default world states.

Female Mahariel. Romanced Alistair and made him impregnate Morrigan :-P. No way she would sacrifice herself or Al for Ferelden (if there was a way around it). They can keep Anora :-D. Made the mistake of importing her in DAA. So out of character for her. Oh, well shit.

My Mahariel and my Brosca would ditch the Wardens to do their own thing, regardless of their tainted status. My Tabris was very very proud to be a Warden, so that made sense to do Awakening, and she was my first Warden. Cousland was Queen Consort, and just saw it as one more way to straighten up the kingdom. Surana did it as a favor to King Alistair; also, being a Teryna of Gwaren meant she was mostly staying put anyhow. Amell is gonna die killing the Archdemon. And in my head, my Aeducan was never made a Warden because she killed Bhelen and took the throne instead.

DAA will be perfect for her. My Canon is my first ever PT of DAO and I did all that entirely blind so the DAA situation was a shocker :-D. Apparently that whole experience sent her on a desperate quest to get rid of the GW thing! ;-)

It's not that my Brosca is ashamed of being a Warden, it's just... I dunno, I just see in my head that she'd stick to Leliana's side and do shady things together as Lel becomes the left hand. Staying in a country she was called on to save but isn't her home, leading a branch of an Organization? Like, she's a good hearted uneducated klepto, it's just not in her DNA to do something so... responsible? Alistair put her in the leadership position for their group, but she's a follower to the bones. But perhaps your Brosca is a sharper dwarf.

I haven't gotten him far enough yet to build relationship yet though. Might just steal that ;-P And I wouldn't necesarily say sharper dwarf, just more of a dreamer maybe? And she really, really, really wants to show them nobles that she is good enough. :-)

I haven't finished her yet, she's meant for Lel and they've flirted a bit. But I pretty much have the whole story wrote out before I play, although I get surprised a lot. or example, my Surana was supposed to be an Alistair romance who did the US. She turned into a Zevran romance that had Loghain do the US. But my Brosca is a definitely a ladies only lady, so that only leaves Lel as a romance option.

I don't have a canon playthrough and I've played dozens of times - all origins, all romances. This much is canon: Alistair is hardened and king, Loghain is dead, somebody did the US. I can't even say the Warden is lover, wife, friend, male or female. What else would be in my canon situation? Um, cured the werewolves, saved the Circle, defeated the Andraste cultists, and Vaughan Kendalls is dead.

I can't decide on just one canon. My first Warden was a F!Brosca and I loved her to bits, but I also love my M!Surana (who let Loghain do the thing) and the traditional Cousland Queen. Oh, and my current M!Mahariel who is going to be the first to actually die.

I picked the last one I played through. Which was my city elf. Rogue, with a dual weilding swords (by the end), and kicking ass.
I'm not a big fan of royalty in general, so the human warrior/rogue and dwarf noble beginnings/characters don't really interest me all that much.

My favorite and canon is a female Dalish (rogue). My second favorite is a female Brosca (rogue again ). Both ended up with Zevran and both did help Anora to become queen. The Dalish lets Loghain live and repend as a warden (in that playthrough Alistair married Anora and Loghain did the DR at the end - that's my imported world stat for DA2 and DAI), Brosca executed Loghain and left Alistair in the wardens.

My main Warden is a Dalish male for several reasons (besides the fact that I'm a big Dalish fan). While the most apt playthrough for DA:O vanilla is probably a female Cousland, with the DLC and subsequent games considered, the Dalish male fits better into the DA universe as a whole IMO. Here's why:
1). You can romance Morrigan (daughter of an elven goddess) who becomes a specialist in the eluvians and elven lore. I like the fact that DA:O (with Witch Hunt) begins and ends with an eluvian for a Dalish Warden. 2). Being Dalish adds more to your relationship with Velanna in DA:A and as such sets you closer to the Architect arc, particularly with the Seranni link and the fact that Velanna's comparison between the plight of the Dalish and the plight of the darkspawn (might) hit home a bit more if you're Dalish yourself (whether in agreement of disagreement). 3). The return of Merrill, the eluvian and the Sabrae Clan in DA2 makes the Dalish warden feel very relevant in that game and he's mentioned a few times. 4). I play Inquisition as a female Dalish that romances Solas as it feels very suitable given the events of Inquisition and the direction the DA series is taking. If you played as a Dalish Warden in Origins, the letter that the Warden sends the Inquisitor in DA:I has some great Dalish-centred dialogue which I thought was a nice touch.
I also feel like the Dalish origin is the best introduction to the darkspawn and being a grey warden: it's actually the only origin story where the darkspawn are the main antagonists and makes the fight against them seem more personal later on in the game (especially given Tamlen's tragic fate).

I go with Dalish elf. The whole thing about the mirror seemed most connected to DA:2 and the overarching plot of the series as a whole. It did also come back in Witch Hunt and DA:I.

Dalish elf was my "primary" canon. I really enjoyed how it made the story flow, and it fit the best, IMO, for a "pure" Grey Warden, since even the origin story was primarily focused on the Blight, and there weren't any other...distractions on the side (like Bhelen for a Dwarf Noble, Jowan for a Mage, etc). Dedicated to the cause, pulled from their home forever, kind at heart, but willing to be ruthless in deed if necessary. Everything that being a Grey Warden should mean, IMO. Dalish just suited it best.
I did also really love the City Elf origin; looking at the origins as standalones, it was my favorite short story. But I doubt I'll ever carry over my City Elf, since the way I played her creates kind of a plot hole in DA2/Inquisition.
