So I'm curious, as there doesn't seem to be a thread on here yet or much of a community online at all - have any of you started getting into VR gaming yet? I acquired an Oculus a few weeks ago, and my main intention was to use it for exercise. I'm not getting any younger, work in an office, commute, and spend much of my spare time gaming. I'm short-sighted, not remotely athletic, I hate sport, and if I go near a gym I have traumatic flashbacks to PE at school. I have to say this is the first time exercise has become fun for me, and something I actually want to do. I'm primarily playing Beat Saber and BoxVR. It's an absolute blast and I am getting fitter. Some of the experiences, especially the under sea and space ones, are pretty spectacular too. And it's mindblowing playing Skyrim in VR! Despite the not brilliant graphcs and weird clunky combat.

The only person I've seen around these parts playing VR games is AnDromedary , I think.

melbella : Thanks for tagging me. dingleydell : That sounds cool. Did you get the new Rift S? I have the previous model but from what i hear, as long as you can set the cameras, it doesn't make that much difference. Anyway, got into it by the beginning of the year. I actually don't much like to use it for exercise because I do that mostly outside (and I don't mind the gym as much ) but I can see why you'd want it for that. My problem with doing very physically active games with it is that the headset gets very uncomfortable quickly then (gets hot around the face, preassure on the cheeks and forehead). I actually rarely use it for more than 1-2 hours at a time. But in that time, I usually have a blast. I tend to use more for games I want to be immersive. Here are some of my favorites: - The new Vader Immortal: Episode 1 is fantastic for Star Wars fans. Being able to really "wield" a light saber is brilliant and reflecting lasers as well as fighting is super fun and feels "right". The campaign is very story driven and your control is often a bit limited. It's certainly more like a mix of a classic game with a great VR interface. - Skyrim VR: I loved the original and the VR version works really well. Best part is, you can mod it and there are plenty of VR specific mods that make it even better. Apart from the occasional sword swinging there isn't too much movement though. This is more about really feeling like you are in this giant fantasy world. - Robo Recall: This one should already be in your library anyway, 'cause it came free if you have touch controllers. It's a fun arcade shooter but with the additional fun of grabbing and throwing enemies (or just ripping them apart in mid air). If you want to play this right and get you highscore up, you gotta be fast and do a lot of dodging and flinging things around, so this may even also count as light exercise. Since it should be free, try it out. - Ok, here is a very simple game that I find totally addictive though and that's Eleven Table Tennis. I'll start it up and before I know it, I've already played 10 games and half an hour is gone. Get it on a sale for 5 bucks, totally worth that for sure. - Again, something more on the immersion side: Alien Isolation with the VR mod. Works fairly well and is a hell of a ride. Just be aware, no one might hear you sceam in space but your neighbors probably will. Superhot VR: A game where you have to force yourself to do slow deliberate movements. Not really exercise but maybe almost a bit like yoga. It's brilliant and lot's of fun though! Definitely recommend that one. Anyway, those would be top titles for now, I think. I haven't tried Beat Sabre yet (on the wishlist). I also just baught Gorn in the sale and am looking forward to trying that out. Let me know of you find any other good games, that you'd recommend.

AnDromedary, yes I got the new Rift S. I'm mostly playing Beat Saber and BoxVr which are loads of fun. I also like Knockout League - a cartoony boxing game which is a lot of fun. I'm loving VR Skyrim, heavily modded. I am incapable of playing vanilla Skyrim, so I was delighted it could be modded in VR too. I very much enjoyed Vader Immortal, though I was unsettled standing in front of Darth Vader! I've had a quick go on Robo Recall and was a bit disturbed by all the robots rushing me in the prologue! I am not going near Alien Isolation or any other scary games in VR. I think I would literally have a heart attack. I get freaked out enough by those games on a small computer screen. I had a quick go on Space Pirate Trainer yesterday, and that was a lot of fun. I keep reading Eleven Table Tennis as Elven Table Tennis?!
If you want to friend me on Oculus (please friend me! I have few enough gaming friends and no VR friends!) I am DingleyDell on there too.

I'll see if I can find you on Oculus when I am back at it. I don't have any friends ( ) and I am complete noob with anything multiplayer but could be fun to play a match of table tennis or something. Gotta get Beat Saber and maybe also try a boxing game one of these days. Could be fun.
Oh, if we do end up playing MP, I recently also got Sparc (the VR ball game). The training sessions are already pretty fun but it absolutely requires 2 people to play a real game (no AI). Would like to try it out some day.

I'm willing to give Sparc a go at some point, though I spent a fortune on games in the summer sale so I probably shouldn't buy any more for a few weeks. I wonder if it will matter that I'm shit at hitting stuff in real life though?! I'm sure you would have no trouble thrashing me!
I'm also pretty new to multiplayer other than playing a lot of Anthem. In case of any crossover current multiplayer/co-op games I have are: Sairento, From Other Suns, World of Diving, Seeking Dawn, Sprint Vector, Wanted Killer, Sky Duel: Tournament, In Death.
