Mostly Tutorial City spoilers Jonas isn't so much a cabin boy as a cabin young man. Now I don't feel like the devil. I didn't see a point where I could resolve the quest any other way than "not do it" or "return him".
Anyone else get different options?
Have confirmed that you probably can't switch coats fast enough to take advantage Kurt's jacket lockpicking skill and still maintain the disguise 😆 turned it off and back on again
I keep randomly or not so randomly side stepping side quest story as I fall into the end goal of the chain. Found my cousin just wandering around town, found the heretics without talking to the jailed guy.
Whoa, am I going to have to keep up with the web of lies I'm creating? Wondering how hard this will bite me later
I guess I've done it all. Time to leave Serene.--- oooo we're going to need a different boat... And all the menfolk run off like cowards , 😒
That was way too easy on normal 😅
Arrival was amusing. New Serene looks a sight better than Old Serene. I feel like I somehow don't have enough points in anything. Siora joining the group was super anticlimactic, it was a bit jarring. I guess I figured she was important enough to the story to warrant at least as much introduction as Kurt and Vasco. About laughed when my cousin said she and De Sardet looked like sisters.
Enough playing for today.

I do wish the male De Sarlet sounded like less of a wuss when speaking. It's hard to headcanon him as a political legbreaker when he sounds more like a bemused kindergarden teacher than any kind of officer or nobility bossing around his lessers even when threatening people and pulling rank. He feels like way too much of a nice guy.
How is the female VA? Equally gentle and polite even with thugs and fanatics?

I've preferred the female VA as compared to what I recalled of the male VA I watched for a few hours on the Twitch stream. Maybe it's because the delivery is better or maybe it's because one expects a woman to be softer in approaches by default so the mannerisms don't seem as out of place.

Still, the outfits are too gorgeous not to play the game for. I got to San Matheus. It's really incredible how big they've managed to make the cities look without them really becoming too much of a mouthful. Clever use of skyline and distances to give a disproportionate feeling of size really makes a difference for an in-game environment.

Goodbye magical rings. Hello stasis traps.
I replayed the prologue and put down the "wrong" trap (I wanted to use an elemental one) and "that" boss fight ended up over in 10 seconds, lol.
I also had the time to do a few quests in New Sérène, but I need some wildlife now. Too much city stuff early on. And no the arena doesn't count.

Not sure if there's a real difference. Although you have to remember De Sardet is a privileged noble person who's only just recently been given the role of legate. Don't think De Sardet was doing anything serious beforehand to make them Shepard-like in terms of gruffness. You're a diplomat, not a soldier. Their sense of tone and haughty colonial attitude makes sense.

Last night, I tried the flirt option you get with Siora right after getting her in the party. She wasn't impressed and now I wonder if her response is different at nice or friendly disposition...and if that screw up her romance or not. :/
I'm also annoyed by all the 2 lockpicking chests in New Sérène, the vigor requirements for a bunch of things, necklace all requiring Willpower and new gloves/boots requiring Endurance. Not enough attribute/talent points (one every 4 and 5 levels *sniff*). I think I'm too used to RPGs not checking these things these days...
Also, I tried the arena. Who need spells when you have stasis traps and guns! By the way, a saw a funky looking pistol with 3 parallels barrels, I think it shoot 3 bullets at the same time in an arc (I didn't try it though).
Oh and lore wise, I'm rather bemused by the Coin Guards running all the the forms of entertainments: brothel, tavern and fighting pits. They sound more like the mafia than guards the more I deal with them...

The game doesn't officially support mods, but we got mods anyway! I'm so installing the no camera bob one. It's annoying. Someone even made a mod to make your weapon visible when sheated, but it's a bit buggy it seems.

Finished the Tutorial City and will most likely start over now I have a better feel for everything. Went technical which is fun. Most useful equipment from the merchant is the cape that gives +1 charisma and the four barreled pistol as that made short work of a certain boss, though I was playing on easy. Oh and 'borrowing' Kurt's chest armour whenever I needed to pick a lock Also have a Nurts chest armour handy as it will make progress in some quests much easier. This will either drop as loot or the merchant usually has some for sale. Other things I noticed there are three groups of random thugs that will attack you. If you see a container glowing, loot it! Anything that can be looted seems to have a slight glow effect but even then you still need to keep your eyes peeled. Just before the boss of the tutorial city I was level 4.

That's valid for loots and harvesting nodes.

Just another way to make you mad you don't have enough points to reach somewhere

Points in intuition allow you to spot the glow effect more easily. That's valid for loots and harvesting nodes. Ooo! Should start collecting tips in the OP or something Maybe? Some more: - armor type affect attack speed, but there are swiftness potions to make you attack faster - game has a combo mechanic with attacks/skills a bit like ME...but I don't know the specific, only that it exist - sneaking can be improved via taking an haze potion - the blacksmith in New Sérène can craft stuff for you (cost money?, didn't try it) - armor doesn't seems to regen, I think you need to sleep or drink a potions for that - blunt weapons (like hammers/mace) apply all their damage on armor until it is broken, while bladed weapons apply to health with damage reduced based on armor left. Magic/poison bypass armor. Guns deal different amount to both health and armor. I need to check for elemental damage. - there is a resurrection powder consumable to revive downed companions, there is an antidote potions to deal with poisons...there are a lots of consumable - encumbrance affect sprinting, if your inventory weight is over the limit, you won't be able to sprint (and dodge? need to test it) - in PC using kb/mouse, the sprint button is actually sprint and dodge, while the dodge button is parry - science, intuition, vigor are used to block access to certain places via checks - intuition is also used to spot "loot" and increase loot chance - the codex has an image of the harvest node after you unlocked the codex for an ingredient. I think it even tells you where you can find them in some cases. - when in the tactical menu click the description button so you can know what all those consumables do... - you can assassinate people while sneak if they haven't seen you (default is "e" on kb). - you can "quick-sell" by pressing "e" on keyboard (apparently, I haven't tried it). - parrying parry everything if timed properly, negating all damage, but it might imbalance or stun you depending of your balance stat. - traps comes in magic, elemental, stasis, poison and "gun" (i.e. deal both health and armor damage) damage type and the require consumable are craftable via science. - merchant inventory "rotate" (not sure of the timing, could on reload) - lootable crates in cities respawns as does some enemies after a while (couple of hours in-game it seems). - faction reputation affect the quality of the loot they sell to you.

Since we give tips:
- Pressing Q on PC loots everything when a loot window is open. - with good timing you can parry even magic and gunshots. - high Balance score reduces the chance of you being knocked down. - with crafting you can add a Talent bonus to a chest piece. You can carry a few pieces of armor with different Talent bonuses in order to switch when needed. - You can craft/buy quest items even before you need them if you check the Quest item Tab at the crafting table and area Merchants. - You can repeat easier fights in the Arena for EXP farming. - Update the gear of your companions. Makes a huge difference down the road.

Finished Kurt and Petrus personal quests and i finally found Aphra. Kurt quest was quite interesting and my favorite out of the companion quests so far (haven`t got Aphra`s quest yet). And although I tried to romance Kurt he doesn't seem interested in my female D`Sardet while Vasco, who i wasn't trying to romance, is all for it (They both got the friendly status after i finished their quests). I guess i just chose the wrong dialogues with Kurt .

When I flirted with Vasco he said "and there you go proving everything I thought about nobles." Or something. I was like, ouch, pretty boy, ouch. Kurt has being upset about the Naut's kid contracts but I was left wondering how someone who trained De Sardet as a tween didn't already know about it.

OUt of curiosity, does anyone know if there's a level cap? If you play the game normally (i.e. doesn't farm XP to farm XP via arena or respawning monsters) you should end up around level 40, but the game cap at level 99 and you can unlock every skills/talents at around level 90 I think. Companion have everything unlocked by level 33 though.

I’m loving this game, but I found one of the worst quests that I ever played in any game. I had to go back to the palace in New Serene 3 times, search the archives underground 2 times and also talk with Madam De Morange 2 times to talk about contracts and I still have yet to complete this damn quest.
