I finally managed to leave New Sérène, but not before doing some stuff for Kurt and Vasco and dealing with more Guards stuff.
I ended getting some banter between Kurt and Siora too (it's quest related).
I also made it to Hikmet. Best guns on all of the island. I didn't even bother "clearing" all the maps on the way.
I'm also working on my trap-skills, as in when to drop a trap or not to avoid getting hit in the process or making sure enemies move over them. At least, you can pick-up your trap afterward if they didn't detonate.

I’m loving this game, but I found one of the worst quests that I ever played in any game. I had to go back to the palace in New Serene 3 times, search the archives underground 2 times and also talk with Madam De Morange 2 times to talk about contracts and I still have yet to complete this damn quest. By far the worst quest in the game. I wonder if it's a shout out to previous Spiders games where you did a LOT of these or it's just there to show you how much better the rest of the quests are
I am waiting for the mod that will give "quick travel from anywhere". Will be essential for future PT. I am 15+ hours in and haven't met Aphra yet, but I found some notes mentioning it and witnessed a ritual that might be related to this.
While there is no "random road banter", I think Spiders went for another solution - quest (and I mean even side ones) related banter. I get comments during quest cutscenes from my companions and right after the cutscenes. Often this even escalates to a conversation between the companions themselves and sometimes bickering (Siora and Petrus have an argument like every time I do something involving the natives or Theleme). It works well and I think I might give Spiders a few more points for the companion development.
I just saw someone use this description of an enemy in the game and I think everyone will know who it is about: Giant fat Davy Jones looking motherfucker

I haven’t been able to kill the thing at the end of the prologue yet. I suck at this sort of game. Lol Don't feel bad, it's a giant leap in difficulty compared to what you experienced before it. Just "kill it with bug bites". Dodge/move away when it lunges, hit it from side/back, move away and wait for another window.

Hmm, I think Aphra's loyalty quest fired a bit early. It's talking about the natives' transformations which I haven't heard anything about thus far. Where do you find Aphra? I need a motivation to keep me going!!!! I am struggling to get invested in any of the other NPC's yet (Siora has had no new dialogue since I started), finished Vasco's stuff (in Hikmet) as far I am aware and done most of Kurt's and hence now in the wilderness looking for the Phantom Company . Just got to Hikmet but then had to return to New Serene to talk to the ex Governor woman Morange or whatever her name is.

I expected to meet her in the same way as Petrus, but she seems to be hidden further down the main quest line. I side quest too much...but I really wanted the 8 meter wide AOE poison bomb as early as possible and didn't want to Arena grind
Anyone else had the same thought as me when first seeing Siora's sister? Sister swap? No, not in the kinky sense..well, but if they don't mind, I... "Native reputation drops minus 10 points".

I haven’t been able to kill the thing at the end of the prologue yet. I suck at this sort of game. Lol Parry blocks everything and there is no health loss. You can literally stay in its face doing parry -> attack-> parry. Stasis it (trap or the spell). You can place lots of traps before triggering the cutscenes and make it walk over it. Don't skip Kurt's tutorial.

I had an easier time taking down that beast with a mage, it might be the easier "class" in term of gameplay...until you run out of mana at least.

You can place lots of traps before triggering the cutscenes and make it walk over it. Don't skip Kurt's tutorial. I am normally a parry expert after years of AC but I can't get the timing at all in this game and have given up. How? It's easier to parry in GreedFall than previous games I played unless you can keep the "block" up all the time. It's pretty similar to TW3, with the major difference that getting a riposte is easier and enemies can knock you down in GreedFall depending on your balance stat (but if you parry it, you don't take damage even if you fall on your ass). The hardest thing to block are guns and magic... When I did the merchant quest that send you in the arena, I kept getting knockback by the monsters, but I didn't lose a single point of HP in the whole fight (I'm not always that good though). I think the hardest part of the combat is getting used to all the stuff it covers: - light dodge - double dodge (roll or lightning dash if you have the prerequisites) - alternate attack (blade: kick, heavy: power attack, ring: shadow impact) - parry - consumables (gun, potions, traps/bombs/flasks)

Advance the main plot to where you have met the Bridge Alliance and Theleme governors. And maybe after you have visited the ancient ruins (not sure about that part). You will eventually get a mission to locate an Alliance research party that has gone missing. "Scholars in the Expedition"

Loot all the stuff in Sérène. You should have around 10 elemental, 5 stasis and 5 poisons traps by the end. Note that traps aren't named traps in the inventory (or crafting table), you can see the amount of traps you have in tactical pause sub-menu.

Yea, I'm going full mage. And combat's a bit twitchier than I like. But it's gotten easier as I get more abilities. That creature is a PITA though.

I played as a technical character as well and I also found that thing super hard. It kills you with 2-3 strikes and you need about 30 to kill it. It's a little ridiculous. If you get behind it, you may get 4-5 blows in before it starts its 360 degree round swing attack. So I found, the best option is to not go for the back but rather for it's side. It will try to turn and hit you with a frontal attack but if you keep side stepping (use the evade/sprint button shortly), you can kinda keep at it's side and away from it's attacks without triggering the round swing. Just make sure you don't get too far behind it.
If it does hit you, run away, block it's projectiles if it throws one, drink a potion and go back (ideally with a furious attack). If you can, stay close to it though, especially after you take down about 50% of it's health. At that point, if you are too far from it, it will start some sort of running/smashing into the ground attack which I couldn't figure out how to evade at all.
This way, I finally defeated it with just my little stiletto knife, without using traps or ammunition on it.

Ha, minor, but predictable plot twist that any Bioware fan would appreciate...or be tired of The protagonist heritage is not what we are initially told. We are not the child of the De Sardets and our father's (that we never met or at least don't remember) paintings were altered to keep the illusion that we look more like him.

Major, severe end game final mission spoilers Honestly, I don't really see any reason to join Constantin OTHER than if you really love him. And that is the reason it's baffling that he is NOT a romance, you aren't even cousins in the end. I think you could've EASILY gotten rid of Aphra's, Vasco's and Kurt's romances and just doubled down on Siora and Constantin. I 100% would join him if he was romanceable, making this a pretty twisted love story, and also making his potential death even more dramatic and emotional.

Sadly I learned all this by talking to that former teacher /advisor during sone other missions. I had no idea where any of that came from. I think they assumed I’d be further down the main storyline at this point.
