Given the recent news that DA4 is currently working through pre-production, I thought it might be a good time to start a new poll! And as it appears we still have a bit of a wait ahead of us , what other games on the horizon is everyone looking forward to?

I put Fall 2021 with a pessimistic heart.
I'm looking forward to Greedfall.

I hate it that I have to do this...again...but you leave me no choice. I would have really preffered this poll to align with the financial quarters that game companies (or at least EA) seems to do. Because that really is my best guess. As much as I would like the game to come out Q4 2020...especially with TVN Nights coming out that same year...the increasing evidence is that TVN is more an appetizer for us to wait rather then a teaser at this point. So yeah...Q4 2021 I honestly put as the release date at this point. So late 2021 or early 2022 in RL terms. But if all goes well I am going to have two HUGE new games to keep me more then occupied. I mean I seem to overestimate such things but with the prevlance of live service these days they might be ALL I play. Really starting to get hyped for Breakpoint (don't let me down Ubisoft) and then Assassin's Creed: Likely Vikings is coming out soon. Hopefully by then DA 4 will be out...of course there is always old games to fill in the void too. And then Greedfall, Avengers, and Fallen Order are 'bubble games'.

I'm gonna go with 2022 (H2), though really any time after 2021 (H2) wouldn't surprise me. And this is a list of all the games I'm looking forward to I could think of... Greedfall (maybe) The Outer Worlds Death Stranding SW Jedi: Fallen Order Gods & Monsters Doom Eternal In the Valley of the Gods Ori and the Will of the Wisps Microsoft Flight Simulator (Time to dust off ye olde joystick ) Final Fantasy 7 Remake Cyberpunk 2077 Assassin's Creed: Valhalla(?) (There'll likely be at least a couple AC games released before DA4) Elden Ring Starfield The Elder Scrolls 6 (I wonder which will release first: DA4 or ES6?)

What's appealing to you about Death Stranding? With how Ubisoft is doing their Live Service for Assassin's Creed and maayyybbbbe Breakpoint (a model I hope BioWare emulates in one way or another...we'll see if I am right about how Breakpoint works.) I really doubt we'll get anymore then one AC game before DA 4 comes out. They'll release it, do a year or two of support of its LS, then release another game...so that would put the next AC game after 'Valhalla'out in 2022 or 2023 and again I'd be shocked if DA 4 wasn't in our hands by then. And we'll have DA 4 before ES 6 most likely.

I voted for 2021 (H2), because 2020 seemed a bit "early" if they're in pre-production. That said I'm looking forward to a lot of games/DLCs in the meantime already. - Dragonhold DLC for ESO - The Elder Scrolls 6 - Pokemon Sword & Shield - Iceborne DLC for Monster Hunter World

What's appealing to you about Death Stranding? It's just so... weird. I have to try it! AC has never gone more than 2 years between releases, and they've been developing 2 at a time for a while now, just staggering the releases. With ~13-14,000 employees, they're large enough to have quite a few projects in the works. So I expect the Montreal-led Vikings game out late next year, then the Quebec City-led game out either the following year (2021), or late 2022 at the latest. And we'll have DA 4 before ES 6 most likely. As long they're not released in the same time-frame, I'll be happy.

why we going with halves and not quarters? you know, like the gaming industry (and any company really) does. i thought it will be late 2020 early 2021, but since it's still on pre-production, i guess late 2021 to early 2022 is a more accurate estimate. well, this year we have jedi: fallen order in november, i wouldn't say it's a game i'm looking forward to, but i'm definitely planning to plan it, it seems fun at least. also this game coming this year, that i am looking forward to =D

I voted for 2024 because I don't want to get my hopes up like I did for an, ahem, Fall 2020 release date. That'll be the ten year(!!!) anniversary of DAI and the fifteen year anniversary of DAO. If it comes sooner than that, at least I can be pleasantly surprised instead of miserably disappointed.

I’d guess 2022 H1 at the earliest, and honestly I hope it doesn’t come out much before then because I want this game to have a solid dev cycle so we don’t get a repeat of DA2 where a game with great promise is bogged down by an all-too-short dev time.
In the meantime, I’m looking forward to Greedfall, The Outer Worlds, Doom Eternal, VTMB 2, and cautiously Cyberpunk.

Tbf it’s also partially Bioware management’s fault, if they’d had a coherent, reasonable vision for MEA or Anthem their dev cycles would not have been that same kind of hell. EA is absolutely hindering them further, though, especially with things like insisting they use Frostbite, which certainly contributed to the dev hell.

BioWare is much smaller than Ubisoft, I believe they're ~500-700 total. It's something like that. With BW Montreal (100-150 IIRC) merging into Motive, it's just the Edmonton & Austin studios now. And Star Wars is still in the mix for Austin. The big franchises can take 400ish people to work on when in full production, so that's going to tie up the bulk of your staff.

Yeah, once you see the numbers then it's easier to understand their release schedule. Still, 500-700 is nothing to sneeze at. On top of which there's work you can outsource as well. Though I wonder if they'll need to have a hit on their hands first before they'll be able to grow their headcount (significantly).

At a certain point, I don't care how pretty it is. I liked DAO perfectly well, just wanted more options in the Character Creator. So unless Newer Gen actually contributes to what I really play these games for... then I don't warrant it's worth the wait purely for this.
