It was the fact that Fenris wasn't given something specific other than Hawke didn't want him to get hurt. Your view of this is that it's lame, but I see the exact phrasing -- "Fenris would have killed himself to protect me. I didn't want to give him that chance," -- as perfectly representative of Fenris's personality.

I think my own Hawke's logic will be that Fenris feeling obligated to defend his love and best friend from capture by well-meaning knights and mage-hunters with whom he mostly sympathizes for years at a time isn't something she wants to put him through, not just so he can be with her. He's already damaged enough without having to live with that. 'sides, my Hawkes are all dead by Blue Wraith, if it's set post-inquisition. And Loghain LIVES! So Fenris feeling down and alone will suit my canon just fine.

"Fenris would have killed himself to protect me. I didn't want to give him that chance," -- as perfectly representative of Fenris's personality. I repeat, I have nothing wrong with the sentiment as it applies to Fenris' character. What I was questioning was the logic in which Hawke leaves Fenris behind (after all they have been through together) when Fenris had declared/implied before our final battle with the Templars that he didn't want to be parted from them in life or death. If Hawke was going into danger then Fenris would have wanted to be with them. So give Fenris a valid reason to be willing to be left behind. So Fenris wouldn't be more damaged by being left behind? I note your Hawkes sacrifice themselves in the Fade. So how would that impact on Fenris? He gets a letter from Varric telling him the bad news. Don't you think it would destroy him that he wasn't there, that he would constantly torture himself with the idea that if he had been Hawke wouldn't be dead, or at the very least he could have died with them? At least if they had given Fenris something definite he had to do, which is why he couldn't go with Hawke, it would have been better than simply he stayed in Kirkwall because Hawke told him to.

No, he wouldn't? Don't know how intensive your relationships have been, but in my experience living without the person you love, while definitely tough, isn't something that actually destroys you. Regularly having to murder people whose goals you ardently sympathize with, and constantly weighing that against aforementioned love though? That's a sick situation to be in, and completely incompatible with any kind of healthy romantic relationship. Over time it would drive any good person insane. And it's not like Fenris has a whole lot left to lose in that department. Besides, Hawke never went into anything with the intention of sacrificing herself. Thedas is a dangerous place. Everyone lives with the risk of hearing about a loved-one's sudden death secondhand. Fenris is just going to have to get over it and find other things and people to live for.

If Hawke was going into danger then Fenris would have wanted to be with them. Seems like you're making Hawke's point here. So give Fenris a valid reason to be willing to be left behind.... it would have been better than simply he stayed in Kirkwall because Hawke told him to. You're assuming this is what happens when the game makes no such claim. In fact, the player can have whatever headcanon they wish for how it all went down and it won't contradict the game's presentation. Aside from the fact that my canon has them not living in Kirkwall -- if they had been, I don't think Cassandra would have had difficulty finding Hawke -- my Hawke didn't give him much choice; he left alone. He did leave an explanatory note, and knew Fenris would be pissed, but he had his reasons, some of which you laid out above.
And you know, sometimes people do things that upset their partner. That's a real facet of relationships. Both my Hawke and Inquisitor have done things that upset or pissed off their partner, and the reverse is true as well, but they talked it out and got over it, as couples do in a healthy relationship.
At any rate, I suspect we will never agree on the matter, so I'll leave it there.

If I recall, that front will be fine too. He’s hunting slavers, not mages. It’s just most slavers in Tevinters are mages. Considering Francesca is the main character in this story and she’s a mage, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see how he draws a distinction (he does even in DA2 after all). We wrote him without any reference to romance, but definitely as if he stood with Hawke and his friends against the Templars in defense of the mages. But we also wrote him as if the group split up after DA II, and he was feeling a little abandoned afterwards. So we wrote him as no longer anti-mage, but definitely reeling from being alone once again. One quick point, though. Even if he stood in defense of mages in Kirkwall, it doesn't mean he has any tolerance and especially not any love for the mageocracy in Tevinter. Interessing i assume the Comic also won´t make any reference to Fenris Sister Variana and her master Ahriman? Edit: And can Fenris after all these years finally read?
And do you guys have any future plans for Calpernia and Tallis by the way?

Edit: And can Fenris after all these years finally read? In Act 3, he says he sent her a letter, so I think we can assume he learned sufficiently during the three year gap between Act 2 and 3.
And yes, I realize that he could have had someone write it for him. I choose to go with the former.

I thought Denarius was actually her master? And the whole Ahriman thing was a ruse/misinformation?

I thought Denarius was actually her master? And the whole Ahriman thing was a ruse/misinformation? Denarius had freed her and she probably did go and work for Ahriman, possibly as his apprentice. However, as she declares to Fenris, simply being free does not necessarily make for a better life in the Imperium. Then Denarius then made her an offer she couldn't refuse, to sponsor her advancement in the hierarchy of mages, allegedly with the promise of ultimately becoming a Magister. I always doubted the last bit as she was a liberati. WoT says that liberati can join the Circle of Magi and become an apprentice but that still doesn't qualify them as citizens, which would be a pre-requisite for becoming a Magister. However, it is possible she didn't fully appreciate this and thought the Denarius was powerful enough to promote her cause regardless of the fact that she was a former slave. So basically she sold out her brother for the promise of power, although to be fair I should imagine that refusing Denarius was not really an option.

Variana is not mentioned in Blue Wraith, nor do we discuss whether or not Fenris can read. No plans for Calpernia or Tallis - I'd love to write either, so maybe one day?

I never was really that interested in the comics in getting them. Was fine with just reading quick summery of each story. This cover however ... wowza. Am thinking I should go for it this time. Who knows, might enjoy the comics more than I would expect. Would it be fine if I would start reading from this one? Really like the cover, and it showing Fenris like this, always had a weak spot for him ... Bravo to the people involved with it!

I'm sure you'll still understand the story, but you won't appreciate it as much as you would if you knew more. It's like playing Inquisition before the other games.

Also, a Preview of Issue 1 is up. Looks good but i have one big problem which i hope won´t be an issue for the whole series.
Sorry but i don´t like the portrait of the Qunari. I really don´t want to see them only as the bad guys. So my hope for the future is that the comic party will interact with more friendly Qunari. Maybe Tallis?
