This was without a doubt the best shooting match ever. The theme, 70s/80s/90s. The costumes, on point. My squad had me; the gringo that doesn't speak the language down here, the CIA village burner complete with necklace made of ears and fingers, Snake Plissken, a good old boy, Magnum PI, old school riot cop and a few others. The stages were themed as well and thoroughly entertaining. We were all fucking around so much that for a squad of 9-10 each stage took an hour. Before we get into the videos, some context. This was a match where several of us, myself included, intentionally shot hostages for laughs. Our scores were all atrocious and we all had a blast. Prepare for some diabolically shit videos. Also, all my shotgun sections, save the last stage where Snake graciously let me borrow his SPAS 12, were dumpster fires because I was firing birdshot out of a rifled barrel. I knew it was rifled but I didn't know it would trash my shot pattern that badly. To hit anything I had to aim about a foot to the side and even then I really didn't have the oomph to knock down poppers. Stage 1 I don't have video of this unfortunately but I'm sure others got their runs, I'll link whatever I find as the other shooters post their stuff. This stage started with someone trying to steal your rifle. Start with a machete in hand, hack through the prop arm then grab your rifle and get to business. Stage 2 Hose down about 8 million rifle targets, drop your rifle, pop the boombox onto your shoulder, draw your pistol and cap the four targets in front of you. Stage 3 Throw some ninja stars at the approaching ninja, then grab your guns and get to work. Stage 4 Crack a Russian paratroopers head open with an entrenching tool, take his sidearm and put a few in him, then go grab your guns. I bayoneted one rifle target as I walked by, then a few seconds later I FUBAR'd my rifle badly enough that I had to redo the stage. Good thing since I completely forgot about four pistol targets on my first run. Stage 5 The video missed the beginning but you start with a chainsaw, hacking some dude up. At the buzzer you turn, pack three bags of yayo into a briefcase and pass it out the window to your buddy, shooting a few handgun targets as you go by. Then grab your shotgun and clear the rest of the hallway. Stage 6 Again the video missed it but you start by throwing a grappling hook over a wall, then you've got a whole ton of targets to clear. Stage 7 Nightstick a few hoodlums, video fucked up again, then grab your guns and finish the rest of the gang off. Stage 8 Throw the cherry on the roof, grab your shotgun and fight your way into the bank, then clear the robbers. Stage 9 Using a silenced .22 loaded with 5 rounds, shoot two bad guys who have a hostage between them. I made sure to kill each bad guy with one shot to make sure I had three for the hostage. I mean the witness. Then clear the stage as usual. That first pistol target after the silencer bit was mangled because my squad collectively agreed to stab it instead of shooting it. I did something slightly different. At the end you drop your rifle and fire a (bottle) rocket from a LAW. I nearly stabbed my camera man for missing it. At the end each division winner got a bitchin ass plaque, which I of course don't have pictures of. They also raffled off a retro rifle donated by Brownells and all the stage props. The guy who won the match happened to also be picked first, the bastard, so he got the rifle. I got exactly the prize I wanted though, the grapple hook. I cannot describe how much fun that match was, there really are no words. How did I forget, here's the thread that started it all: www.ar15.com/forums/General/70s-to-90s-Themed-Gun-Matches-Retro-Wave-Shooting-MATCH-DATE-SET-W-SIGN-UP-NOW/5-2173149/

You know nothing Jon budgee. I know what disturbs me. Neither you nor anyone else can convince me that this shit is wholesome or reasonable They're reasonably wholesome fun for the whole family, there's even halloween themed matches! I might dress up as Claire Redfield from RE2 remake for one of these since I have the same revolver she has in that.

Neither you nor anyone else can convince me that this shit is wholesome or reasonable Why would I want to convince you about anything?? Though you can always go ahead and form an actual legit opinion -without my help- by actually getting hands on experience instead of pulling opinions outta your ass just like that.

You only quoting half of what I wrote just perfectly shows how you judge and form your opinions, your response could not have been any better.

That looks fun! How expensive was it? Very. The match fee was $150, which for nine good size stages wasn't terrible. The real cost was equipment. I had to get a shoulder rig for $150 and three mags for $43 a piece. I burned through 310 rounds of 5.56, 144 .50 AE (which are $1.60 a pop) and about 80 shotgun shells. Not to mention the gas to drive 12 hours and three nights in a hotel. Worth every penny though.

LOL, my 3 gun loadout would be a double barrel shotgun, my Glock 17 in the Roni SMG stock (33 round magazines), and well, my pistol would be my RIA .45 1911. Problem is, here I don't even have a range that lets me practice with my shotgun (buckshot) so it would just sit around collecting dust. 1000+ bucks is a lot for a fancy dust collector.

For a handgun, I'd use my Taurus M65 .357 which is the piece I'm most proficient with, but if capacity is an issue, then there's always the Beretta 81 and the G19. The only kind of shotgun I could get in a hurry would be one of those cheapo single shot ones.

A plain AR15A2, a Mossberg 500 with the aforementioned rifled barrel that screwed me over and my Desert Eagle. Hence the absurd equipment and ammo costs.

And boy, was it accurate, making 3 inch groups at 25 yards was not hard. I would not go 50 though, too much hassle.
