Just a thought, with a short lore video:
TL;DW (It’s under five minutes!):
Items of interest:
1) The last known location of the Black Fox was the Arlathan Forest searching for the lost city.
2) The Black Fox was said to have 10 rings that together revealed the location of his stronghold. One of which could be found in DA2 and two others were held by Celene and Gaspard.
Arlathan was lost/destroyed after the Veil if Tevinter history is to be believed, so Solas wouldn’t necessarily have any special knowledge to finding it. So what if the ten rings are a MacGuffin we race Solas to find to uncover some secret of the Black Fox that allowed him to find Arlathan?
Not sure why, just thinking about how the Black Fox could be part of the plot.

Wow I completely missed the connection with Vivienne's lover.
If we get to go to the arlathan forest then i hope we find something Black Fox related.

Originally I thought the Black Fox was just the writers making a nod to the Robin Hood legends and he was some way back in time. However, the link to Bastien seemed to suggest that the Black Fox was part of a much more recent history (or there has been more than one Black Fox down the years). Then the fact that he was said to have gone missing in Arlathan Forest does suggest that the references about him were building towards some sort of involvement in the story going forward. So I would agree that there is a good possibility we could encounter the Black Fox or at least his last resting place next game, particularly as I would be very disappointed not to be travelling to Arlathan Forest at some point, very likely in search of the ruins of the city that Tevinter destroyed.

The codices even give us a birth date, so the Black Fox was probably active in the last two decades of the Blessed Age and perhaps the early Dragon Age. He’d be an old man but he could still be around. I’m a bit worried this bit of lore will be forgotten by the writers, just as I’m convinced they forgot about the Varterral when planning all those elven ruins in DAI. Otherwise though, it definitely seems set up to become relevant.

just as I’m convinced they forgot about the Varterral when planning all those elven ruins in DAI. It would seem like they conveniently overlooked the use of varterral to protect elven sites but may be the elven tale that they regenerated after being killed was wrong and after several millennia of intruders the supply of varterral ran out. This may also have been true of Crossroads section we were in where the Qunari likely killed any they encountered.

Another interesting video - I hadn't paid much attention to the Black Fox, but agree that there is every possibility that his tale may pop up in DA4. He could even appear in person - given that time flows differently beyond the Veil, I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't aged at all. I wonder if he could have had a hand in waking Solas?

This was a great and very informative vid. I just subbed to your channel last night. It's weird that I've been lurking around here since BSN went dark and never noticed your regular posting of lore related vids. Wtf am I even doing with my life.

Probably because I haven’t kept it up very regularly, I tend to release a bunch weekly then fall behind. These latest are the first after months.
