Gothic 1 Remake plus playable teaser right now

I loved Gothic and I'd love that remake. Based on the teaser, the visuals would look amazing. However, I hear the playable version did not get received that well. And I can actually kinda imagine why. In order for it to work for me, there would need to be a few things that would be absolutely crucial.
- Use the original German voice files again - well, that's easy
- Get a combat system together, that captures the challenge of the original without re-introducing it's horrible clumsiness - that's hard. I am not sure what kind of combat that flows well today would actually work well in Gothic. Maybe something a bit souls-like? In the original, you really had to time dodges and parries right, so a souls-like could work here. And you needed the proper gear (that should be easy to remake with the "no damage if enemy armor is larger than your weapon damage" system). Anyway, to make a good combat system is the alpha and omega of a game like this and I am not sure if that studio is up to the job.
- And now for the most difficult - the atmosphere. If they are rebuilding everything in a new engine, they'd also need to recreate the AI in order to capture the unique atmosphere of the original Gothic where NPCs had daily schedules, would do (fake) smalltalk around the campfire/market ("Es wird nichts so hiess gegessen wie es gekocht wird." ) and so on. They need to realize when you are sneaking into an area you shouldn't be in, etc. Getting all that right is a huge challenge if you have to rebuild everything from scratch.

So I am not that optimistic but still, I'd love to replay Gothic with updated visuals.
