Particularly so in my part of town because there is a licensing trust in action, meaning supermarkets can't sell beer and wine, so literally the only place to get booze is a licensed - specialised - liquor store. Thoughts and prayers, everyone. Thoughts and prayers. In all seriousness, it is a very bad idea to cut off alcohol supplies completely in situations like this. Setting up a scenario where every alcoholic in town has to suddenly go cold turkey with no medical support is not going to help keep people out of hospital.
Speaking of which, the main effect of all this on me personally is that the surgery I was meant to be having next week got cancelled today . I completely understand why they had to do it, but after three months of being essentially stuck in my house and in constant pain, it sucks that there is no end in sight. Yeah sad that's happened bu tunderstandable but I think we'er all going through the pain barrier atm. All we can d ois try to do our bit stay at home until the all clear is given. With any luck it won't be too long. Though I suspec tit'll be a therat to al of us at least until the summer given China's timetable as it's only now starting to look better for them an do fcourse as we al lknow they were the firstto be affected and it's taken them a tleast 4 months t oshake this off given the first cases hit in December which means it'll likely be at least June/July for the rest of us in terms of seeing any improvement.

Man, sorry to hear that. I hope its not something than can potentially be - or become - life threatening? Nah, it's unpleasant but not dangerous. Long story short: my gall bladder made a really big rock and now it's chronically inflamed and is apparently determined to stay like that, so it needs to come out. The frustrating thing is that it's completely routine surgery that would take around half an hour, but the hospitals are understandably assuming they will have more important stuff to do next week.
The stone is probably too big to move at this point, so it's unlikely to block something and turn into an emergency.

Optimistically, if these quarantine measures work well enough we might be able to not only stop coronavirus but also a couple of other deseases with similar life cycle. Imagine if we were to wipe out influenza by accident.

I've not caught anything, but my workplace has been deemed essential so I'm still expected to go to work as normal and do my thing.
Far as free time goes, I've been on le internets doing the normal thing; checking on news, keeping entertained, talking to friends, making sure people are doing okay.
And ran into phoray on Reddit which is why I popped back here after fricken forever hahaha

I wonder though, can't those stone be crushed electrically like they do with kidney stones? Is a surgery actually necessary?

My country is in lockdown too but i`m a healthcare professional working in a hospital lab so i have to go to work as usual. My main fear was infecting my family, since i`m more at risk of being infected, so i had to stop visiting my parents which was really hard since i`m used to see them everyday but it`s for their protection, and i still speak with them everyday by video calls. After work i go home into quarantine like everyone else and i have my games, books and tv series to pass the time.

I admit, it's amusing to me to see how people cope with quarantine. I've been close to housebound for 20 years due to my health, sometimes only going out once a fortnight. It's second nature to me and I've built up quite a few coping mechanisms. I had no idea, sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you manage so well. Problem is, when I go outside I just don't feel anything. Being surrounded by nature, fresh air and sun used to boost my morale a ton, but nowadays it just feels mundane, empty and boring like everything else. Its just that I have seen trees, grass and the sun a million times already, its just nothing new. But a couple of ideas popped into my head. I remembered the only times I have ever been truly blissfully happy was when I created something, which required my utmost attention and concentration. Maybe I will pick up painting again, or start a new woodworking project. *Bob Ross intensifies* My country is in lockdown too but i`m a healthcare professional working in a hospital lab so i have to go to work as usual. Its people like you that keep society from collapsing in times like these. Thank you!

Anyway, apparently my fellow kiwis have their priorities in order. People are demanding to know whether or not liquor stores are classified as "essential services" and are asking the question seriously. Particularly so in my part of town because there is a licensing trust in action, meaning supermarkets can't sell beer and wine, so literally the only place to get booze is a licensed - specialised - liquor store. Thoughts and prayers, everyone. Thoughts and prayers. My husband joked that the liquor store was essential. And then I told him that is was, and he was like, What?! I don't care what they say, I'm not going there. Got his beer at the grocery store. My Indian boyfriend just heard the news that the lockdown was extended another 21 days. Post office is closed there so now he can't send me letters and he likely won't get my letters either 😢

Some good news here for people with a mortgage who have had their income impacted by COVID-19 - 6 month interest and principle payment holidays. That will take more than just the edge off. Ive had friends look into similar around here In The USA and they say you owe everything at the end of the forgiveness period. Most people are like, if I didn't have it the first 3-6 months, what makes you think I have all 3-6 months of payments in a pile to give 3-6 months from now?

I wonder though, can't those stone be crushed electrically like they do with kidney stones? Is a surgery actually necessary? A kidney stone is a sign your kidney is doing it's job. It's filtering and for one reason or another, you had too much calcium in your blood. So like a shower head, it picked up some crusties. You Sonic shake it off and keep going A gallstone is a sign your gallbladder isn't working. It had calcium salts in it intentionally for digestive purposes, and it didn't squeeze them out when you are, so now its all clumped together into a rock. And the rock rubs up on the soft tissue = swollen angry tissue. So yes, you could Sonic it, but it would just happen again and again because your gallbladder isn't working properly. So take the thing out

Its affected me of course. I work for a supplier for the Big Three. We were originally laid off for just this week, but our very own governor Moombeam decided to shut the state down as of midnight last night for three weeks. Only essential jobs are permitted to be open and you are only allowed to go to the grocery store, gas station, medical help otherwise you are to stay home.
Personally they're making more out of it than what it should be. We don't shut down the system over the flu (high death rate among the elderly and children I may add) or other contagious diseases. And when I was very sick last month, the nurse told me there had been a lot of flu/cold type illnesses with the pneumonia. Hmmm sounds like Corona to me. All this happened before everyone decided to get excited about Corona in the US. Sounds to me like it came here before our government knew or they just didn't take it serious and withheld that info until it started to become a problem.

Welp, it may be mundane but it gets the body working. Ah, some creativity! We can get the arts and crafts thread going again and start posting what we make, I'd be interested to see you come up with. . . . It's going to be a gun isn't it. With a gas mask on.

Yeah Ithink mos tgovernments hav ebeen a bit slow in responding to the therat tbh. You could understand it with China due to them being the firs tto ge thit but mostof Europe and the US probably should have reacted quicker once they realised it was spreading. Especially as most of the European cases started only popping up and spreading in the last month or so so they can't say they weren't warned/. I definitely feel though that ther should be protocols in place by government that allows them to act quickly in the event something like this does happen again. I do hope it doesn' t though.

Actually, I can make a whole lot more than just things that go boom, I just like to talk about those the most. I have a whole little workshop. It's different here. You still accumulate interest, but other than that - meaning it will take longer overall to pay it back - you aren't penalised in any way.

In all seriousness, it is a very bad idea to cut off alcohol supplies completely in situations like this. Setting up a scenario where every alcoholic in town has to suddenly go cold turkey with no medical support is not going to help keep people out of hospital. You had to go a ruin my little joke with facts. So rude. Speaking of which, the main effect of all this on me personally is that the surgery I was meant to be having next week got cancelled today . I completely understand why they had to do it, but after three months of being essentially stuck in my house and in constant pain, it sucks that there is no end in sight. Really sorry to hear that. I found it very hard to sleep during my first full lockdown day in the UK, I'm in a city and the silence and quiet is really bugging me, I can usually sleep with a bit of background noise but there doesn't seem to be any animal noise, IDK maybe the silence and lack of activity has spooked the birds and other urban animals. I've been in the countryside on many occasions in the past and even when it's quiet or an isolated place there's usually some kind of noise, usually a member of the crow family but this nothingness is weird, It's a really eerie feeling.

They just postponed the Olympics.
😖 This flu season better be fucking epic.
P.S. I only say this because the news and politicians are building this up like it's the flupocalypse. Now, I'm all conflicted... like, if the outbreak isn't so bad, should I be underwhelmed? So confused.

They just postponed the Olympics. 😖 This flu season better be fucking epic. I think the point is they want it to be way less epic 😅
I want this flu to fizzle like it's 2000!*

Th eolympics isn' tth efirst sporting event to fall to this problem anyway it's just the latest. But given the circumstances there's no other option atm. Especially as all sporting events are in suspension anyway right now.
