Anyone into flying and or racing simulators? I have a basic Hotas setup for elite dangerous and star wars squadrons. Fun but I'm struggling particularly with Elite Dangerous. Had the itch to try sim racing so just purchased a Thrustmaster T300, TLCM pedals and a thrustmaster shifter. It's considered entry gear but still very expensive. Looking forward to trying it on assetto Corsa with the new gear

Aces of the Pacific was one of my favourite games of all time, but I haven't played it in about 20 years.
I'm just now remembering that you actually had to fly from the carrier/airbase to the mission location manually and it usually took about ten minutes. Of course you had to fly back and land successfully, as well. I'm not sure that game mechanic would "fly" today. I loved it, tho'. I used to pick the horrible torpedo bombers just because the tension when flying into a battle zone was unreal when you only had one mounted .50 to defend yourself with.

Its funny 10 -15 years ago while I was still in University I was content to just play arena shooters, fighting games and the odd action/RPG game. As I've gotten older I just can't play those games without getting bored real quick. I need to have a story-based game with lots of RPG elements and micro management. The closest thing I come toin terms of arena shooter these days is ME3 multiplayer and that's just because there's lots of tinkering I can do. I've never played aces of the Pacific in fact I've never played a flight simulator before until I got Elite Dangerous and with elite dangerous the complexity comes from the menu system and the various buttons you have to learn rather the ship movement itself (I imagine the game you are referring to is complex because of the controls?). I'm more experienced with racing sims having played Grand Turismo 1 on the PS1 up to GT4 in the PS3 and Forza 2 on the xbox. Fun games that I played with my brother but I found with a basic controller that I couldn't get the full emersion that I wanted. Hoping it will be a better experience now. Wait another 10 years and I'll be playing bus/train/farm simulator 🤣

I have a HOTAS for Elite Dangerous on PS4. There's only 2 models, one by thrustmaster, another by Hori. Both are shit apparently. I've got the thrustmaster one, and I've taken it apart more times than should be necessary because of roll and thrust issues, but I have to make do with what I have. It's still so much better than the dualshock controller.
I have a few other flight style games - Ace combat and Squadrons, but I haven't been playing those much / at all.
I was looking into getting a decent one for when I play on the laptop, but deciding whether I should go with something not too pricey because it's unlikely I will use it terribly often, or shell out while there are sales on for some more decent equipment.
I used to have the whole steering wheel set up for the older generation consoles, but have given that away to a family member. Maybe I'll get back into it one day, but flight sims are more my style.

It doesn't necessarily make you better at these games, its more to do with trying to replicate real world racing as much as possible. I've come to realise that this can be a very expensive hobby (looking at how much some people are willing to invest to get an authentic feeling)

I got the same Thrustmaster Hotas as you only mine is the xbox variant. Its all plastic and feels like a toy honestly but its functional and performance wise I dont think there would be a huge difference between this cheapo baseline pair and the top end Hotas which is several times more expensive. Like racing sims it boils down to authenticity more than anything. The top end Hotas are mostly metal and modeled off of real world fighter planes. Its my understanding that for a lot of these flight sims, VR is a bigger game changer than the more expensive controllers. I was looking at the oculas 2 headset because its quite cheap for VR but zuckerbot forcing people to use Facebook or Meta or whatever the hell its called these days put me right off.

I have the ps4 vr kit, and I love it. I've not played E.D. in it yet, just Skyrim and the demo disc. I'd use it more, but its a pain in the butt to keep setting up as I have young kids who will destroy it and everything else instantly in a 3km radius. The only thing you have to be careful of is motion sickness, which luckily I don't get.

Yeah, what exactly do you need?
I've recommended people get the T16000M before. Pretty good stick. Been using two separate iterations for maybe eight years now. Sort of expensive, but probably the best stick on the market short of Hawg/Hornet and VIRPIL/VKB.

Shame, TM makes some of the best sticks on the PC. Does crossplay even work on ED?

No, no crossplay. Maybe one day, we can dream I know, I was super disappointed with the ps4 / thrustmaster mash up. Seems to be luck of the draw, mine is manageable, just annoying.

They do but the top end hotas that they offer is like 5 times the price, not sure if its worth it for something that is functionally the same. Does the Warthog come with rudder pedals? I think I read that the flightstick can YAW which the baseline cheapo model can 🤔

You at least have a good manager who has organised the team well Kind of but we hav ewon some trophies over the years htough it has been a while since our last one but wi thConte in charge now I'm cautiousl yoptimistic he can get us winning one soon given he's won trophies everywhere he's been. But then the asme thing was said about Mourinho but then I never thought Mourinho was going to be a good fit at Spurs given werpla ywit ha more attack minded style whereas he's always been a more defensive minded coach. But yeah neither of our teams are having that great luck this year. Though our luck might be turning considreing we just held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw today

They do but the top end hotas that they offer is like 5 times the price, not sure if its worth it for something that is functionally the same. Does the Warthog come with rudder pedals? I think I read that the flightstick can YAW which the baseline cheapo model can 🤔
T16000M uses the same sensors. With the buttons on the Hawg and Hornet in much more convenient places, the design overall being metallic (or so the claim is) as opposed to the plastic nature of the T16kM... I could imagine it being worthwhile. However, the price of admission is considerable for the stick alone. The full on HOTAS definitely runs a little higher as a result, but once again, I can tell the user friendliness is going to be significantly better than he TWCS. Unfortunately, there is no matching throttle for the Hornet (Hawg has an actual A10C throttle, but there is no equivalent of an accurate F/A-18C throttle). Pedals are then completely independent, and while I find the TFRP sufficient, I did find myself wondering about the pendulum rudder pedals they offer. However, those are straight up impossibly expensive.
Also, what the fuck. Are you seriously being an arse over someone liking another team?!

In case you aren' t aware Spurs and Arsenal are rivals BIG RIVALS!!! in the Premier League as they're both based in North London. Though I don't presonaly take the rivalry too much to heart as to me Arsenal are just another team in the division but there are some fans that do.

I would have loved to have him at Arsenal
